I got this case for the new computer I was building. I was looking for an all aluminum case with a nice style. I ran across this on sale, tho the price was still a little high, I thought it was worth the little bit extra for the uniqueness and quality. I upgraded my rig to the ASUS Rampage III MB, Intel i7 930,Tuniq tower 120 extreme, LG Blu-ray burner, XFX 850W Black powersupply, 2x Raptor 150gb 3gb/s hdd in RAID 0 (may upgrade to the 6gb/s model at a later time). Reused my old graphic cards (2x Radeon HD 4870), old dvd-rw drive, 12 in 1 sd card reader, 2x 1tb wd hdd, d-link wireless n wifi card.
Pro: All Aluminum, Good design, most of the case is tool-free. Plenty of extras. Wheels to lift it off the ground and easy movement. The box also came double boxed. It was a joy to open and unboxed. Also came with a T-shirt, briefcase with paperwork, certificates and manual in it. A water-cooler housing, water-cooler access plate for tubing. A couple of extra fan housing.
Cons: Only came with 2 fans. The rear fan wasn't LED. Low quality fan.
Final Thoughts: Price was a little high but you pay for the quality and uniqueness. The art work on the case was very beautiful. The finish on the case was durable and since it's automotive paint, I can't wait to wax it and see how bright and shiny I can make it.

ASUS MT276HE - 27" Wide LCD Monitors - Black Review

ASUS MT276HE - 27 Wide LCD Monitors - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this monitor to use specifically for gaming as my current PC monitor just wasn't fast enough for gaming. My main monitor is designed for photography, graphic design or similar uses where color accuracy is more important than speed. Before I go into detail, let me just explain why I gave four stars instead of 5. I feel perfection should be hard to get. Now back to the review. The monitor is well packaged. When I received the monitor, I first tested my PS3 games and no surprise, games look fantastic. I do not really see any ghosting which I do see in my Dell U2410. Contrast and colors look great. Blu-ray movies also looked great. I was surprised at the audio as it was louder and cleaner than I expected for a 3 watt speaker. You can not turn the bass all the way up to the highest setting because the audio starts to distort but it does provide decent bass a couple of notches down. Fortunately my monitor arrived without any dead pixels. The mesh covering the speakers are an interesting choice. Nice if you like flowers but you don't really notice it unless you are paying attention to the detail.
Now the next test was connecting it to my PC. This monitor has three inputs, two digital (HDMI) and one analog (VGA). I tried the HDMI input and no surprise, the colors don't look as great as my Dell U2410 but that is to be expected since this panel is a TN 6-bit panel. It doesn't look bad but it is definitely IPS quality. The screen is a matte screen and not glossy which helps if you work in a room with direct sunlight. Glare sucks on glossy screens and so I avoid them at all cost. Glossy screens do add more contrast but in my opinion, the contrast on this monitor looks amazing.
The monitor runs pretty cool. I used to own a Dell 30" monitor and in the summertime, it made my office get really hot. Since this monitor also has an LED panel, it should use less electricity than a traditional CCFL panel.
The game I play most often is Street Fighter IV (but in a month, that will change when Super Street Fighter IV comes out). I just love how clean and smooth it looks on this screen. There is literally no lag on this monitor. I also tried Unreal Tournament 3 on my PC and wow, the game looks terrific on this monitor. This monitor is definitely my favorite monitor for gaming.
Keep in mind that since the two digital inputs on this monitor are HDMI, you may have a problem initially when you connect your PC to this monitor as it may detect it as an HDTV instead of a PC monitor. You will need to turn off overscan correction on your graphics card settings. This will get rid of the black bars on the side of the screen
The bezel on this monitor is a bit big which means those with ATI graphics cards who want to try out Eyefinity may not want to go with this monitor.
The monitor includes a handy little remote. I am personally not a fan of the credit card sized remote controls which the Asus monitor includes as they tend to get lost easily and due to its size, you can not put a great description of what each of the buttons do. The HDTV does have a slot to hide the remote but I would have rather preferred a slightly larger remote. I sometimes forget what each symbol means but I am sure after a while, I'll get over that.
The monitor includes a 3 year warranty which is rare for computer LCD monitors. Hopefully I won't have to use it but its good to know its there if I need it.
Now for some cons. First of all, I generally like to view my Blu-ray movies at 24 frames per second since that is what movies are generally filmed at. This monitor does not support 24P, or at least when I set it to 24P on my Sony Playstation 3, it loses sync when I play a Blu-ray movie. Since this monitor came out in late 2009, I was expecting it to support 24P. Also the monitor stand can not be tilted. Since I use this as a second monitor, it doesn't line up with my Dell 24" so tilting would have been nice. For the price this monitor goes for, I was hoping it would allow tilting. The volume also does not go low enough. This is a problem because it is in my office and my walls are not thick enough and so I have to wear headphones to make sure I don't wake up my 2 year old son when he is napping. All of the buttons are on the top of the Asus monitor except for the power button. All of the HDTVs in my house have the buttons located in the same section so when I want to power on or off the Asus monitor, I sometimes accidentally reach for the top. I know this is a minor detail but I just wanted to point this out.
Overall I really like this monitor a lot and am happy with my purchase. There are some other features to this monitor which I haven't mentioned yet but its nice that it has a headphone jack for when you want to game at night when everyone in your house is asleep. It has SPDIF output for when you need thumping audio through an audio receiver or a sound bar. I don't expect I'll ever use that but its good to know its there. It is not a very portable monitor but since it doesn't weigh much, you could technically use it for lan parties and such. This monitor is a keeper and I hope it lasts me a long time. If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer them. If I could give a more accurate score for this monitor, I would rate it a 4.5.

Ok, this is the fastest laptop I have ever owned. I actually bought the one with the p7450 2.13GHz, but I upgraded to the P8700 myself. I bought a Refurbished Asus G50VT.
With Vista on it is ok, but with Windows 7 on it its awesome. It can play Far Cry 2 and Call Of Duty MW2 on the highest settings. When playing these games, the video card got to 86C after an hour. My frame rate was in the High 20s mid 30s on the highest settings. The hottest the CPU ever got was 72C. Before I upgraded the CPU, it would idle at in the mid 30s(C). After I upgraded it and used Antec Formula 5 it now idles at 27-29C. The GPU idles at 42C and gets to around 50-55 while surfing the net or watching a video. This laptop runs cool compared to other laptops.
Some people have asked if it can handle 8GB of ram. After little research I found that it can take up to 8GB of memory. 8GB (2x4GB) on eBay costs about $240. Now for battery life.
On power save with the screen on the dimmest I get about 3-3.5 hours of life. Some people think that the light and design on the lid look bad, but I think it looks cool. I just wish that you could turn them off sometimes. Hard drive transfers at about 22 MBPS with Windows 7.
Overall its an excellent laptop. I paid $700 for mine on eBay. 5 Star Laptop!
Pros:
Fast Processor
Good Video Card
Big HDD
Long Battery Life
Fast Wireless Card
Excellent frame rates in latest games
Runs very cool
Cons
Lid Design looks bad to some
Screen slightly low resolution
Can't put a quad core in it

I have had this laptop for almost a year now, bought it July '08 over at Best Buy. It's a great laptop for several reasons. A big plus is the fact that there are two different buttons for powering on, one for 64-bit, and the other for 32-bit. 64-bit is a must, because it unlocks the full potential of 4GB memory, and being a gamer, it truly helps. The HDD is partitioned into two drives, one with the OS (149GB) and a clean partition (140GB). The e-SATA hookup is there physically, but not virtually. What I mean by that is that there is an e-SATA port, but there is not yet drivers for it. I called up Asus and they told me to uninstall/reinstall JMICRON drivers, all in vain. Another con is the processing power, would have liked to see this push 2.0GHz. The screen resolution is considerably lower than most laptops, but it does have Asus Splendid Utility, so there truly is a trade-off there.
All-in-all, considering this being nearly a year old with no visible or virtual wear and tear, I give this a rating of four stars. In the near future, I plan to swap HDD's, because this model makes it possible to do so.

I have two of these CPUs on an Intel S5000Xvn motherboard and they are BEASTS! I get about 25,000 points a day at World Community Grid folding@home. I can have two or three modern PC games open at once and easily alt-tab between them in just a couple seconds, literally. The CPU usage will run about 40% with Batman, Bioshock 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 open all at once with absolutely ZERO stuttering. The CPU headroom is just insane. I recommend getting a dual-socket board so you can add a SECOND one if you desire in the future. Also, utilize all the memory slots because this beast has QUAD CHANNEL memory!

I like this laptop. Picked it up for work. I've tended to stick with HP prodcuts as I've not had many issues with them. I've owned 5 HP laptops in the past 10 years.
This one is nice, had it customized from HP. The LCD is nice and bright when it needs to be, so far batter life is where i expected it, I put windows professional 64bit on it, fun!
I do wish it had a DVI port so I can use my dual LCD screen while at the office, but i'll have to look into getting a vga port splitter and see if that works. i'll repost later.
Sadly this laptop has one less USB port than my DV7000, but this one DOES come with eSata... but now I have to look into getting something with that connection.
There is one HDMI out, haven't tested it yet, but I will. The graphics card is nice, does the job. Seems to have enough power (ATI 512MB) to do anything I need so far (no gaming yet).
The sound SUCKS. Dolby is better off than on. No clue why its even on there? I tried turning it on for various kinds of music and movies... I can barely hear a different, maybe a subtle volume increase but honestly not worth my time. I have an old audio enhance on my Dv7000 (SRS Audio Sandbox) so I just installed that on this thing and bamn way better, big improvement on sound. I'm into how things sound... even if its on crappy tiny laptop speakers.

First of all, we all know this is one powerful card and it's up there with the high-end cards, but before you get too excited about getting this...
MAKE SURE OF THE FOLLOWING:
--------------------------
1. This card is huge, and I don't mean the days of how high-end AGP cards looked like (it's getting pretty ridiculous - makes cards like the 8800GT size look normal and everything else tiny), so make sure you have at least 9.5 inches diameter of clear space in your case.
* Most importantly, if your SATA ports are directly near, or right underneath, the PCI Express 16 slot -- with the ports facing towards you (looking at it from the front body/face of the motherboard) -- then most likely, this huge card will block your SATA ports! I had to forfeit two SATA ports for this card; I'll have to upgrade to a better motherboard, that is designed for big cards like this, if I want to add more SATA devices.
However, if you already have a really good motherboard, that was actually built with large graphics cards in mind (such as the EVGA X58 SLI Mainboard, then you shouldn't have a problem, since the SATA ports would then be facing towards the side direction (towards the right of the motherboard) away from the PCI Express slots.
2. Make sure you have enough wattage on your power supply! NVIDIA recommends a minimum of 550W with 38A on the 12+v line. You can probably get away with a good 500W power supply, depending on what other components you have (use a power supply calculator), but it'll be cutting it close.
3. The card requires TWO 6-pin power connectors to be powered. (The GTX 480 requires an 8-pin and a 6-pin) If your power supply only has one 6-pin power, this card comes with two PCI Express 6-Pin to Dual 4-Pin Molex connectors.
--------------------------
I was a bit worried of claims about the fan being really loud, but I did not find that to be the case.
I'm using EVGA's Precision utility to monitor the card.
When idle, the fan speed stays at 40% and is around 43C stable.
When playing StarCraft 2 (heavy playing/max settings at 1920x1080 - seems to only be using 50% of the GPU power)
the fan speed rises slightly to: 45%
temperatures rise to about: 70-75C (using stock fan and side panel 80mm fan)
The temperatures definitely do get up there. NVIDIA claims this card can still run max to 105C!
--------------------------
In comparison with the GTX480: (First number is for GTX 470; Second number/higher number is for the GTX480)
--------------------------
CUDA Cores: 448 vs 480
GPU clockspeed: 607 vs 700 (MHz)
Processor clockspeed: 1215 vs 1401 (MHz)
Memory clock: 1674 vs 1848 (MHz)
Memory size: GDDR5 1280 MB vs 1536 MB
Memory interface 320-bit vs 384-bit
--------------------------
Considering cost/performance, I would stick with the GTX470 over the 480. I've switched betwen ATI/NVIDIA back and forth, and so far I've ended up with NVIDIA. Mainly, I needed the CUDA cores to take advantage of CS5 Premiere's Mercury Engine (more CUDA cores the better, and at least 756MB memory and above is required to use that engine); it works great after a really simple hack. Also, I like that NVIDIA has better drivers and the card actually scales correctly on my HDTV - my ATI card has a problem with this. Lately, I've been more impressed with NVIDIA's presentation and innovations. The card has a mini-HDMI out, and the package includes a mini-HDMi to HDMI cable, as well as VGA-DVI. The EVGA GTX470 is one nice looking card as well (they have the best skin). EVGA has become one of my favorite manufactures of NVIDIA cards (#1 seller in US), not some generic unknown company, and this card has a lifetime warranty after registering within 30 days or purchase. This card is future proof with DirectX11 with tessellation capabilities.
I bought my GTX 470 in July 2010 and it came with standard brackets. EVGA later released a "High Flow Bracket", which has a little bit more opening, claiming it would reduce up to 5 degrees lower temperature (however, most buyers have claimed less) -- it makes you wonder why they didn't simply make the brackets that way in the first place? (smaller hole - less heat gets out; wider opening - more airflow. Duh?) It's really silly and nothing really amazing when you look at the "High Flow Bracket" design. Although EVGA states the bracket is "free of charge", for buyers registering their product (until the end of August), they still charge $5 to ship a small piece of metal; might as well be saying the bracket is $5 and they'll ship it free! (they actually sell it for $10 and free shipping under their accessories shopping page).
Personally, I think that is a silly "upgrade" and more of a profit gain gimmick by EVGA. Also, this card does not have a backplate (it's not necessary, but it adds a better overall look to the card and safety, by not having the PCB exposed on the other side. Now, it probably would be worth the Free-but-$5 shipping if they included the backplate as well. I believe the GTX 470 SuperClocked Edition comes with the backplate and bracket already installed, but it's an additional accessory that one would have to purchase separately for this standard GTX 470 (EVGA sells it for $19.99 under accessories - no, thanks). If EVGA is listening, they should provide the bracket and backplate to GTX 470 owners free of charge (without ridiculous shipping fees) - now, that would be amazing customer support.

this laptop is a beast for the price. i got it on sale at a different online vendor (the egg of course) for $400 and what can i say. for $400 i got a laptop that can play resident evil 5 and bioshock 2 (mostly low settings, maybe a few medium at 1280*720) at around 20-35 frames per second. it boots fast and as ddr3. the stickers are easy to remove from the wrist rest surface. I replaced the stock 5400 rpm hard drive with a 7200rpm WD scorpio black 320gb which probably has something to do with the quick booting and reasonable gaming. I also reinstalled windows 7 64-bit to instantly drop the bloatware that comes on the laptop. the keyboard doesn't sag at all so the heavy typers out there will be pleased. the trackpad is great, the surface allows your finger to glide without friction ( a rare feature on most laptops). plus it has hdmi out so you can watch movies in hi-def on you LCD or Plasma Or LED tv's. the screen is bright and has great color. it has gigabit ethernet and wireless N. No bluetooth though, its no biggie. For $400 i got the best deal in the world. Just buy it, even at the price offered here its still a great buy.

This Laptop computer has its ups and downs. For any one who plans on using the laptop for games yet to be released, please consider this.
The laptop has a nice 4Gigs of ram and a great screen, but it has integrated graphics which can be an issue on the more intense games. For example.
World of Warcraft-Runs Perfectly
Mount and blade-Runs well, 35 FPS with Medium-high settings.
Dragon age 2- Runs... Thats all, With all settings at the lowest, it stutters frequently and can be a turn off. but its playable, if only just.

i have not had any issues with this projector, it is my first one and i love it, my movie and gaming experiance is awesome. everyone that sees the display that it puts off is usually shocked by how good the quality is. they were not expecting any thing like it. its one and only flaw is that it does not have an HDMI hook up to it. you can only use the regular red whit yellow cables, component cables (red green blue cables, those are the ones i am using) it has an s video jack, and you can hook your computer up to it. i forget what they are called but its the same cable used to hook a computer up to any regular moniter. besides it not having the HDMI jack. THIS THING IS THE SHI@ !!!!! i have had it for over a year and a half and am still pleased with it.

24" Widescreen Full HD Led LCD Review

24 Widescreen Full HD Led LCD
Average Reviews:

Great product. I bought this to serve as both a monitor (primarily) and a TV (secondarily). It is hooked up to my PC and to the DirecTV HD satellite receiver through HDMI cables. The PC has an ATI 5770 graphics card and is used for high end gaming as well as the other normal functions most PC users do. The gaming requires a monitor with a fast refresh rate and high resolution. The HD programs I watch either from DirecTV or DVD player requires an HD TV and this monitor provides 1920x1080 resolution and full 1080P HD in TV mode. This AOC product handles both the monitor and the TV chores without a hitch. And if that isn't enough, it comes with an actual 8 1/2" x 11" manual that is written in reasonably sized type and in a style that is very easy to understand. No need to go online and download a manual in tiny type or view one from a CD. After reading this manual and recently experiencing painful sessions trying to decipher Sony, Samsung, Onkyo, and LG (the worst) manuals I can say that AOC ought to be writing the manuals for all those other manufacturers. If you are not familiar with AOC they have been in business a long time and have been making electronic products for other companies who sell them under their name. AOC bought the old U.S Admiral electronics company in the late 1960's when Japan Inc, was running RCA, Zenith, Admiral and other U.S. companies out of the home electronics business. In recent years AOC, which is based in Taiwan, decided to sell TV's and monitors under their own name. This is the first AOC product I have purchased and I am impressed.

The Sony VAIO f136 fx was not my first choice, but am glad I got it.
I was looking for a new machine to replace my HP6226 for doing 3D animation
(using Carrara, VUE, Cinema4d)
Almost got the ASUS G73JW-XA1, but bought the Sony from Fry's (same price as Amazon, but
already had an account to get the 0% 6mos financing)...Caution: just applying for a new
card, eg Bill Me Later, can lower your credit score.
The ASUS has more room for ram, 2 HD's, and a better graphics card, but is also heavier,
and a little too "gamey" looking.
Although the Sony was my 2nd choice, I'm very happy with it so far. BTW, the only other machine I'd get
now would be the HP Envy 17-1181nr.
I could still return the Sony, but would get hit with a 15% restocking fee.
The HP Envy has a better graphics card, bigger screen, better resolution, better sound quality,
and more durable exterior. But it's also a 1 lb heavier...a lot to lug around and the cpu is slightly slower.
That said, this is why I am happy & will keep the Sony:
1. i7-740qm cpu...hyper-threads when rendering.
2. nice screen...1600x900, 16.4" diagonal...a good size for me.
3. back-lit keyboard...good to type on...has a good feel to it.
4. very quiet (only noticible when it revs up in auto-over-clocking mode when rendering an animation)
5. good looks
6. Sony quality
7. seems lighter than it is.
Cons (minor criticisms)
1. the left/right "click" buttons on the keypad actually click...aren't smooth like the
alpha/numerics...would have liked them to be right of center vs left, too.
2. The finish is very stylish...a dull dark grey with the VAIO logo...but is easily
marred...in contrast, the HP Envy has an embossed surface that should look good much longer.
I'll just have to be more careful.
All in all, the Sony VAIO F136fx is a great laptop that should last me at least 3 yrs.
BTW, my HP Pavilion 6226 is still working amazingly well...it was only $700, and will still use
it as a backup, and for rendering parts of an animation.
But the Sony is 3-4x faster and will save me a lot of time.
Plan to add 2 more gb ram (8 total), and replace the HD with an Solid-state drive
down the road. But it's working great as is.
I still give it 5 stars. =)

Lian-Li Armorsuit Aluminum Gaming PC Case PC-P80 Review

Lian-Li Armorsuit Aluminum Gaming PC Case PC-P80
Average Reviews:

Pros: High quality materials, construction, fit & finish. Huge interior. Easy opening side panels and the removeable mobo tray is very useful. Great airflow. Worked well with my Coolmax 1350W ps, Foxconn Destroyer mobo, AMD Phenom X4 9850 & fancooler, WDHDs, Lite-on DVD burners, 4 Nvidia Tesla C1060s & 16GB Micron DIMMs. Also easily accommodates the completely redundant Mac Mini I planted within on the bottom at the back, cut the fins out of the P80 rear bottom vent and the mini rear panel fits perfectly there. Cooling not an issue; I did replace the stock rear fan with the (louder & higher CFM) spare LED fan that came with my mobo, but did not need to. This was my first build and the PC-P80 made it SIMPLE.
Cons: price is steep but hey, you get what you pay for and this is worth every penny.
Other Thoughts: Also I installed the transparent side panel LI W-75 BT from Lian Li, well worth the 75 extra bucks if you like watching the fans spin and the leds blink.

I recently purchased this machine because I needed a machine with greater power to do some high end rendering of my 3D artwork. This machine has more than filled this role, in fact it has surpassed it. I'm now able to render in mere minutes, what used to take days. I don't game, so this was never a consideration, but videos and streaming media play flawlessly. I've been able to multitask where previously I've had to use multiple computers. Windows 7 is a vast improvement over Vista, but still has a few minor incompatibilities, nothing major, and I've not yet bothered to research a fix for them, so they may be easily resolved.
All in all, for the price, I could not be more happy with the system. It runs quiet, and the built in wireless was a nice touch, as I've run out of ports on my router.

HP Pavilion DV2-1110US 12.1-Inch Entertainment Laptop Review

HP Pavilion DV2-1110US 12.1-Inch Entertainment Laptop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just one week after I buy this notebook from Amazon, the price falls by $27 and Amazon refuses to match the price drop. Quite disappointing in that regard. I ordered this on a Wed, Amazon shipped on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday with free shipping. So that was good.
On to the notebook. First the pros:
Build quality is good and it feels expensive compared to most sub $500 note/netbooks.
Large keys on the keyboard while not as spacious as a regular keyboard works better than than those from Acer that use the chicklet size keys. One of the reasons why I chose this over the Acer Timeline series.
Screen is bright and sharp.
Small compact and lightweight since it doesn't have a built-in DVD drive (uses an external drive). Design looks clean and modern with none of that clunky look from the low end Lenovos or Toshibas.
Uses Vista 64 bit edition
Has HDMI port to plug into HDTVs
Dedicated graphics processor and memory.
Now the cons:
Battery life is average 2-3 hours
Uses single core AMD Athlon Neo processor which is underpowered for Vista. There're occasional lags when running basic things like browsers, Word, etc. The CPU is maxed out at 100% most times.
The initial applications and drivers installed seem to make the notebook run really slow. I tried to watch videos on Hulu.com and they were jerky and slow. After installing updated video drivers and IE8 and Firefox, it worked better. Strange for a notebook professing to be an "Entertainment" notebook to be that bad at video until the drivers were updated. Despite the dedicated graphics processor and memory, video performance is just average and can a bit slow at times.
Bloatware. There are several but not too bad.
HP MediaSmart: this is pretty useless since the notebook already has Windows Media Center. The software itself is nothing great and eats up additional memory and CPU cycles.
Bottom line: This notebook is just barely able to run Vista 64 since the CPU is underpowered. It's a compromise between a full blown notebook and netbook since it has a decent size hard drive and screen. To make it perform better, you'll have to remove all the bloatware and unnecessary applications, and download the latest software updates and drivers. I'll be upgrading to Win 7 when it arrives so hopefully, that'll improve the performance further. Also probably look into upgrading the 2gb ram to 4gb.
