Let's face it, these bags are $$Expensive$$. So expensive that I lied to my wife about the exorbitant amount of money that I paid for it. However, it saved me money in the end. Because I was moving I needed to be 100 percent sure that I would see my computer on the other side. My mac was packed with two tons of books and furniture in a 5*6*8 box and my computer came out fine! So, if you have an extreme case like mine, do it! It is cheaper than paying for another mac!

Tamrac 5552 Black SpeedRoller 2 Rolling Photo/Laptop Case (Black) Review

Tamrac 5552 Black SpeedRoller 2 Rolling Photo/Laptop Case (Black)
Average Reviews:

Great design, suitable for air travel and most overhead storage. The rolling wheels are well balanced and roll smooth. The 'laptop' area is not very well padded and rather large - good for just bringing the laptop from point a to point b, though I wouldn't check the bag or store for long term with the laptop in there. Material seems to be durable, the extendable handle is sturdy and collapses smooth. Would definitely recommend.
Photo of my gear in the bag: [...]
After going through a few bags over the years, this is probably my most favorite. Though not a replacement for a backpack if you plan to hike - this is definitely great for keeping in your car, moving from job to job, traveling, and general storage.

Gator Cases GR-WH4B0921TD-9U 21-Inch Deep Sectional Wall Mounted Rack with Vented Glass Front Door Included (Black)

Gator cases are my new favorite. I have used lots of other brands, I don't think I need to mention them as if you are looking at this product you know who the competitors are.
I have to say the I have used at least four of these units so far and each was received in very adequate packaging and were well protected.
The glass doors on these units are very solidly constructed. Ventilation is totally awesome, there's plenty of it along the sides, the front door, and vent fan cutouts and mounting holes in the top are standard.
The front door has a push button lock mechanism that pops the handle out and with a simple turn unlatches the door. It does come with a set of keys to lock the front door.
The side panels are removable and feature pre-drilled holes for installing standard cabinet locks in case you want to lock up access from the sides like I did.
Mounting is a snap. Just position the back piece (hinged) against the surface where you want to install it and trace the mounting holes on the surface you're mounting it too. If you've mounted these types of cases before I don't have to caution you to make sure you mount it according to the weight requirements of the material you are mounting it to.
The mounting holes are decent and in my opinion could be spread out a bit more towards the outer corners as to provide a little less flexing of the metal when the unit is fully filled with switches, etc...
I always drill out new mounting holes for added stability.
Overall, and excellent product that I would highly recommend. I hope the price doesn't sky rocket. Competitor products go for almost and additional 50% to 100% more in price.

I got this case for the new computer I was building. I was looking for an all aluminum case with a nice style. I ran across this on sale, tho the price was still a little high, I thought it was worth the little bit extra for the uniqueness and quality. I upgraded my rig to the ASUS Rampage III MB, Intel i7 930,Tuniq tower 120 extreme, LG Blu-ray burner, XFX 850W Black powersupply, 2x Raptor 150gb 3gb/s hdd in RAID 0 (may upgrade to the 6gb/s model at a later time). Reused my old graphic cards (2x Radeon HD 4870), old dvd-rw drive, 12 in 1 sd card reader, 2x 1tb wd hdd, d-link wireless n wifi card.
Pro: All Aluminum, Good design, most of the case is tool-free. Plenty of extras. Wheels to lift it off the ground and easy movement. The box also came double boxed. It was a joy to open and unboxed. Also came with a T-shirt, briefcase with paperwork, certificates and manual in it. A water-cooler housing, water-cooler access plate for tubing. A couple of extra fan housing.
Cons: Only came with 2 fans. The rear fan wasn't LED. Low quality fan.
Final Thoughts: Price was a little high but you pay for the quality and uniqueness. The art work on the case was very beautiful. The finish on the case was durable and since it's automotive paint, I can't wait to wax it and see how bright and shiny I can make it.

I have built dozens of HTPCs over the years. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of using this case in a build. Out of all the prefab HTPC cases, this is the only one I have run across that would be worthy to be used in my own system. Everything is remarkably thick and is built heavy duty. The case is tall enough for nearly any aftermarket cooler. Be forewarned that extra long video cards and power supplies may not fit so measure accordantly.

I bought this case after returning a thermaltake case that arrived dented. I was going to buy another thermaltake but saw this one. Im glad I did this one is quite a bit sturdier and I like the looks better. I think its all aluminum where I think all but the face plate on the thermaltake was steel. Fit all of my components nicely and matches my onkyo reciever well. Setting up the display was dificult at first but I found a nice tutorial.

Lian Li PC-V1200 - Mid tower-silver or black - extended ATX - no power supply Review

Lian Li PC-V1200 - Mid tower-silver or black - extended ATX - no power supply
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Short and sweet, this case is really nicely done. Quite roomy for a mid-tower, which is, oddly enough, my only complaint. The case is bordering on huge. Sure, it's nice to have SIX hard drive bays and FIVE accessory bays (CD-ROMs, etc.), but does anyone really need all that space in a mid-tower? If you're going with a liquid cooling system and want space for a radiator, etc.., then great, but otherwise, I wish the case was a bit smaller. Hence my 4 star rating. This is the smallest case that features the 3 zone cooling system, so if you want that, then deal with it I guess.
Anyway, great build quality, but it is a bit over-priced in my opinion. The materials are ~good~, but for $200+, they should be great. It's a shame when you have to overpay to get this kind of quality, but make no mistake, there's not a better case for the money out there right now. I'm justifying the expense by keeping in mind that this case is not disposable, but instead, will be used again and again.
Oh yeah, I got the Antec 480 neopower PS, which is pretty big, and it fits like a dream. Fact is, I've not seen a PS that wouldn't fit in this case.
Obviously the case is meant to mimic the Apple G5, which it does pretty well, but if you want to see an _excellent_ case, check out the G5's. Quality of workmanship to materials used, the G5 is head and shoulders above this one. But, of course, the G5 case is not available by itself. :-(
Anyway, the case is quite good and looks great sitting next to my G5. One of the nice touches that Lian-Li put on the case is a G5-like DVD/CD-Rom bay at the top. Instead of the door sliding down, it flips open, but it's a very nice touch regardless.
Pick this case up for your next project and you won't be dissapointed.

Corsair Obsidian Aluminum Full Tower ATX Enthusiast Case CC700D (Black) Review

Corsair Obsidian Aluminum Full Tower ATX Enthusiast Case CC700D (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this case because I wanted an all black - in and out - case and I wanted one that would allow for plenty of expansion for either air or water cooling. And, I did not want a window on the case. That said, I never strayed in my search far from this case simply because it looked so good. I considered the FT02 from Silverstone and Antec's 900 and 1200, but this case was it. It is cavernous in the space it has. The rubber grommets for cable management are well placed and abundant - inside is very clean regarding wiring. Bottom power supply has a segregated chamber to isolate heat as do the HDDs. HDD racks come with rubber grommets also to keep drives quieter. It comes with three 120cm fans (one may be 140cm) and room for at least three more up top. I am air cooling at this time and it easily houses the Noctua NH-U12P SE2. plenty of room for long graphics cards. The air is pulled in from the bottom, so placing on thick carpet is not a good idea. I put it on ceramic tiles to keep the air flow optimal (on carpet). The case fans are very quiet. I do not hear them until I place my ear abot a foot from the case. The front I/O items are what you expect. No eSata. The aluminum front is nice also and the only light you see is a white LED on the power switch and the occasional HDD activity white LED. I do not like colors swirling around and lighting up my office area so a simple, classy case is what I wanted and this delivered. I recommend it and unless you have to have the space, there is no need for the 800D. No regrets.
The only issues I have are minor. The I/O panel does not open/close smoothly. It is less elegant for lack of a better word and seems too cheap for the overall case concept. Visually though, nothing is a problem as this is how it feels when you open/close it. Removing the front aluminum block could have been engineered to be easier. It is screwed on, but it seems too much of a hassle to get it off. The filter is also rear-accessed which does not work when this case is pushed into a niche as I suspect most will do. But, pull it out, clean the filter, put it back and problem solved. I will be using this case for a long time as CPUs and Mobos come and go.

CPU: Core i7 930

Average Reviews:

This case is pretty good for the money. Depending on your needs, you may prefer the Antec 300 for about the same money.
Pros:
1. Side cooling holes for cooling mobo and videocard
2. Top cooling vents
3. Bottom-mounted PSU -- PSU can be mounted rightside or upside down.
Cons:
1. HDD cage holds 4 3.5" hdds
2. Need to buy more 3.5" cages to hold more than 4 hdds
3. Lack of extra fan mounting screws.
4. No reset button
Compare Antec 300 vs. CM 590:
Antec is better at handling hdds: 2 hdd cages x 3 hdd ea. = 6 max. CM is 4 max because of only having 1 hdd cage.
CM is better at handling 5.25" DVDs: 9 vs. 3 (Antec).
Both have bottom-mounted PSU, but CM can mount PSU right/upside down.
CM has 2 side vents: Antec only 1 (for videocard).
CM has 2 top vents: Antec 1.
Antec has reset button; CM no.
Bottom-line: Get Antec for system w/ 3-6 hdds and 3 max DVDs. Get CM for system with 4 max hdds. Both are solid values.

Zalman GT1000 Gaming Chassis (Black) Review

Zalman GT1000 Gaming Chassis (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this case, because my son had one and I thought it was very attractive, made installing peripherals easy, and was very quiet. After receiving the case, it was quick work to install my computer components into the case, and for the most part I was very satisfied with it.
Pros: Very attractive with two 92 mm fans lit with red LED in the lower front of the case and a side panel with a clear window. There are double doors on both sides of the case with the left side secured with thumb screws and the right side doors secured with allen screws. The doors on either side are also secured with a magnet so the screws are only needed if the case is going to be moved. The back of the case has a very quiet 120 mm exhaust fan that is also lit with a red LED. Expansion cards are held in place with thumb screws, and hard drives have well padded holders and are secured with thumb screws. The padding eliminates vibrations from the drives. The case is fairly heavy and constructed of quite thick aluminum, which helps with sound proofing. Zalman provides a special cable for the two fans in the front. The cable has four connectors -- two black and two white. Two connectors allow the fans to run at full speed -- about 3000 rpm, and the other two reduce the speed to about 1200 rpm. The rear fan seems to be very quiet regardless of its speed, but it can be controlled with your motherboard's bios or software such as speedfan. Since I use liquid cooling, nothing inside the case gets very warm and I could do without any case fans, but I like the look with the LEDs. The front panel includes a large (about the size of a quarter) silver on/off switch, a small blue power on LED, two small red hard drive activity LEDs, a small silver reset switch, speaker and microphone input connectors, two USB connectors, and a fire wire connector.
Cons: This baby is expensive at around $400. This probably is more than it is worth, but if this is what you want, you will need to dig deep into your pockets. Both my son, who also has a GT1000, and I have experienced a problem with the little blue power LED indicator. At first the LED stayed lit while the power to the computer was on. After a few weeks, it would be on part of the time and off part of the time with the time in each state ocurring for random time periods. Finally, the LED on my case went off and stayed off, while my son's is still flashing on and off the last I heard. I've dealt with Zalman Tech Support in the past (I also have a Zalman Reserator XT hybrid liquid cooling system) and they are very pleasant to deal with. I couldn't be happier with how they handle problems, but I haven't contacted them about this yet.
Additional Comments: I have been using this case for more than a year now and have not had any additional problems. The blue light problem described above miraculously disappeared and hasn't come back. Consequently, I have no problems and couldn't be happier with this case. I'll leave the rating at 4-stars based on the price. (3/14/10)

Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) Review

Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
Sleek design. Great for overclockers and water coolers. 3x120mm radiator area on the top under the grid makes it GREAT for cooling. Previously owned Cosmos 1000.
Comparison:
Slightly lower quality side panels and all around quality. (that's slightly).
Front audio headphone port no longer makes faint clicking noise when listening to sound through headphones and hard drive is accessing.
Comes with 1x120mm top fan (out of 3) instead of 2x120mm from the Cosmos 1000.
Doesn't come with bottom 120mm fan that Cosmos 1000 came with.
Comes with front 120mm hard drive cooling fan and intake (Cosmos 1000 lacked)
Lots more ventilation and airflow intake and outtake capability (compared to Cosmos 1000 which used negative inside pressure to cool components... a bad idea for gamers with graphics cards that needed air to push out the back).
Lighter than the Cosmos 1000 by far.
Cons:
The side panel is more flimsy. 200mm side fan is great, but make sure nothing touches it. The fan will easily break if something pokes it while it's in motion. Mine did (which Cooler Master gracefully replaced). Not as much noise reduction as the Cosmos 1000 but still it's a gamer's case. Paint comes off easily on the top handle bars and feet (semi-knife scratches will do the job)
Other Thoughts:
Tested with: video card: eVGA 8800GTS G92 512mb Overclocked to 800/2000/1000 Idle 45c Load 52c
Processor: Q6600 @ 2.92ghz on Zalman 9700 @ 38c idle 55c load

Processor - 1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 / 2.66 GHz ( 1333 MHz ) - LGA775 Socket - L2 12 MB ( 2 x 6MB ) - Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been building a number of systems lately, and needed to put together a few of my own too. So in addition to building several servers based on newer Xeon chips, I also have had the pleasure of building two core 2 quad systems recently.
Intel's entire lineup of new chips have some real positives. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Quad-Core Processor, 2.66 GHz, 12M L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB, LGA775 is a great chip in particular that offers you some of the benefits of a server CPU at a home PC price point. It's also very compatible with the types of boards and set-ups that most gamers or heavy application users (read Photoshop :) ) will want in their rigs.
Like the Xeon Quad-core - X3350, the 9450 also gives you the 12 MB of L2 Cache, which is the largest easily available through retail channels and 50% larger than the 6600. True, for $200 you can get the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 here on Amazon. It has a very similar clock speed (easily over-clocked) and a respectable 8 MB of L2 cache, which is nothing to sneeze at. Like I said, I used that guy in my personal box, but I did find that it was possible to locate the 9450 at a similar price. So while Amazon's price does vary, if you do your research you can get the larger cache and slightly faster clock speed of the 9450 for the same price as the 6600.
People building a home server that is pulling multiple duties or running multi-threading apps like Adobe Photoshop CS3 will benefit from the extra cores. Not to mention, if you have gotten away from 32 bit OS and moved to 64 bit (Either Vista x64, Linux, Solaris, Suse, or another one) you will definitely be able to squeeze some extra juice out of the extra hardware.
Unlike the Xeon, this guy isn't compatible with the 3200 board architecture that gives you ECC DDR2 800 ram and some other extras. So while that makes the Xeon better for server specific applications, the 9450 is definitely comparable in performance for all other functions.
The LGA775 architecture is somewhat standard for Intel's core-2 quads. You get support for a 1333 FSB. Once again, with a 64 bit OS you get to take advantage of much more RAM too.
If you are a home user or are building a workstation, it may make sense to go down to the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. But if you have a system running processor intensive functions, the extra cache of the 9450 can come in handy. Similarly, if you do your homework you can get it for about what the 6600 will set you back.
Check it out and do your research before you decide.
Enjoy.

Quiet 4U Rackmount Review

Quiet 4U Rackmount

This is a very nice case. I am building a server for doing audio recording at home, and wanted something quiet and rack mountable. I have never built a PC from scratch before, so I was concerned with I opened the box. Case came with a bag a screws and miscellaneous parts (including a clear plastic window with adhesive strips, etc.), but no manual, no warranty info, no packing list - nada. Fortunately, my motherboard documentation was comprehensive. I still had to figure out how to hook up the SATA2 drives, and to use standoffs to raise the MB off of the floor of the case. However, all's well that boots successfully. Note, the power switch on the front does not stay in the on position, but that's by design. The support people will respond by email.

Tamrac 5263 Black CyberPro Express Rolling Photo/Laptop Briefcase (Black) Review

Tamrac has done it again...
This bag is the answer to all of your SLR & Computer travel needs. First off, it is very well protected with heavy padding. This particular model can EASILY fit your SLR system...including 6 lens and a flash...and you'll probably still have room to spare. Inside compartment comes equipt with NUMEROUS removeable sections. Heavy duty velcro allows you to organize it in whatever way you deem necessary. Laptop section easily fits oversized laptops (mine's a gaming grade Alienware). Section also has a protection pad on the bottom of it that flips up so that section will collapse when not in use.
In addition to all of that there are two outside flap pockets on the side, one portfolio type zipper pocket on the front flap, and an additional organizational section in front of the laptop section that is equipt with numerous pockets... Read: plenty of room for PDAs, paperwork, gadgets and gizmos. :) Other points of interest include a well made telescoping handle. It locks in place when you need it to lock, and it collapses when you need it to collapse. No more struggling with handles on this bag! ...and when the handles is not in use it fits into another zipper section. Rolling casters roll in all directions...not just forward and backward. You can literally spin this bag in a circle with only the use of one hand. This means that the bag won't tip, even if your pulling it behind you, off balance whie running thru the airport to catch a plane. :) Bag also has a removable shoulder strap with heavy duty hardware, and another handle for hand carrying on top.
Bottom line is.... Tamrac was not fooling around when they designed this bag. Nothing was skimped on. It's very well thought out and very well made. I have absolutley no complains about this bag. It's perfect! Buy with confidence!

A front accessory pocket with internal paraphernalia pockets organizes CDs, a phone, an MP3 player and pens. Behind this pocket is a foam-padded laptop compartment with a plastic, foam-padded bottom to protect laptops with up to 17-Inch screens, including Apple's 17-Inch MacBook Pro. The main compartment features fully adjustable, foam-padded dividers and an accessory pocket inside the top lid. A weather-protected Speed Pocket on the front flap keeps filters, tickets and small accessories within easy reach for quick access, while large side pockets hold AC adapters, cables, cords and other bulky items. The telescoping handle locks open or closed with the push of a button and stows away in a zippered pocket when not in use. Ball-bearing, in-line skate wheels ensure a smooth, stable ride. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Quad-Core Processor, 2.66 GHz, 8M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, LGA775 Review

This is a quality product. It's packaged well, it installs easily and it works flawlessly. The included thermal solution (heatsink and fan assembly) fits well and keeps the CPU temperature nice and low without making fan noise. The heatsink has factory pre-installed thermal compound, so you don't need any "heatsink grease" during installation.
A few "facts" about this (and other Intel Core 2 Quad) processors:
* Performance speed is better, but not a LOT better than a dual core. This is because most Windows programs only use one core anyway.
* Programs that are written for a multi CPU system (such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom) will be screaming fast when run on this chip.
* A quad core CPU is actually 2 dual cores in one package.
* This CPU is "locked" (it cannot have it's clock multiplier changed for "overclocking").
* To get an "unlocked" CPU, you must buy a $1000+ "Quad Core Extreme" chip (i.e. a QX6700).
* This CPU is not supported by older motherboards. MAKE SURE you have the right board AND BIOS updates to support quad core before buying this.
* LINUX users will LOVE this chip, since Linux smoothly uses all 4 cpu's.
* This chip supports "AMD-64" mode - meaning it will run XP and Vista 64 bit editions, as well as Linux AMD-64 edition.
In summary, this product is high quality and it works great. I highly recommend this CPU as a fine upgrade to any PC (be sure your system supports the chip though!).

Lian-Li Armorsuit Aluminum Gaming PC Case PC-P80 Review

Lian-Li Armorsuit Aluminum Gaming PC Case PC-P80
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: High quality materials, construction, fit & finish. Huge interior. Easy opening side panels and the removeable mobo tray is very useful. Great airflow. Worked well with my Coolmax 1350W ps, Foxconn Destroyer mobo, AMD Phenom X4 9850 & fancooler, WDHDs, Lite-on DVD burners, 4 Nvidia Tesla C1060s & 16GB Micron DIMMs. Also easily accommodates the completely redundant Mac Mini I planted within on the bottom at the back, cut the fins out of the P80 rear bottom vent and the mini rear panel fits perfectly there. Cooling not an issue; I did replace the stock rear fan with the (louder & higher CFM) spare LED fan that came with my mobo, but did not need to. This was my first build and the PC-P80 made it SIMPLE.
Cons: price is steep but hey, you get what you pay for and this is worth every penny.
Other Thoughts: Also I installed the transparent side panel LI W-75 BT from Lian Li, well worth the 75 extra bucks if you like watching the fans spin and the leds blink.
