LG L246WP-BN 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor Review

I suddenly found myself in need of a monitor with more inputs so I purchased this one. The HDMI input is particularly well done: there's a standard headphone jack on the left edge (next to the two USB ports) for listening to HDMI audio. I tested this with my AT&T U-verse DVR's HDMI output successfully. I imagine that the HDMI audio feature of the new ATI 2xxx-series video cards will work too. LG includes a HDMI-to-DVI monitor cable and a VGA cable. Should you need a HDMI-to-HDMI cable you'll have to purchase it separately. I bought a Monoprice 4-port HDMI switch and assorted cables to let me share this monitor between my DVR and PCs, an arrangement that works reasonably well. I have the component input hooked up to the DVR as well so I can watch TV using the monitor's PiP feature, though I've yet to use that much.
There are two tweaks that you may need to make. The default colors were way too dark from my PC, which I corrected by setting Picture | CSM to sRGB. That let me turn down brightness to a much more comfortable level. To view HDTV video without the picture being stretched vertically, set Screen | ARC to 1:1 instead of Full.
I'm very happy with this monitor. If you need a do-everything 24" monitor, buy this one.

Acer AL2223Wd 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor Review

Acer AL2223Wd 22 Widescreen LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

Overall I am very pleased with this monitor and would definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget. You'd be hard pressed to beat it for the price. However, it is not perfect...
PROS
- Screen is very bright (I had to turn it down), and very clear at native resolution
- Mine has no dead pixels
- "Ghosting" effect while paying fast-paced games is very minimal
- Comes with a DVI cable (many don't)
- GridVista software included is a handy tool that allows you to arrange open windows in a grid on your screen so you don't have to constantly switch between them.
CONS
- I can notice a *slight* change in brightness from the top of the screen to the bottom, even when looking straight at the screen. When I tilt the screen up or down, this difference becomes more apparent. But it isn't so bad as to be distracting as long as you have the monitor facing you perfectly.
- The screen is only 6-bit, which is below the ideal 8-bit. What this means is the monitor can only display a limited number of colors. Most users may not notice the minor dithering this causes, but to those who are into professional photo or video editing, you should probably cough up more cash for a monitor with an 8-bit screen.
- The stand is difficult to adjust and doesn't allow for much customization.
- The connectors are located in an inconvenient spot behind the stand.
For me, the pros far outweigh the cons. If you aren't looking to spend a boatload but want a large, impressive widescreen then this is the monitor you want!

Mitsubishi WD-57731 57-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV Review

Mitsubishi WD-57731 57-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I dumped my old Mitsubishi CRT-based rear projection HDTV when we moved to another house. That TV was a back-breaker to move. To replace it, I found this one after much research on the Net and with visits to Fry's, Circuit City, and Best Buy. I found no independent reviews of this model on the Net. However, the specs for this TV impressed me. What I most wanted was the ability to receive 1080P sources natively and connect to a PC with a DVI connector. This TV seems protected from early obsolescence with the plethora of connectors: HDMI, ieee1394, and component video. I did confuse the specs with those of the other TVs I researched. I thought that, like other similar Mitsubishi models, this one has memory card (SD, MMC, etc.) slots and USB connection. I was disappointed to find out when it arrived (in late July 2006) that it did not. However, this was not much of a loss for me. I was impressed by the quality of the picture. I was worried about the quality of rendering standard 480p DVDs and standard def TV. However, watching DVDs was a joy. The color was well saturated and accurate. The picture was bright. It was definitely an improvement over my old HDTV. Watching standard def TV was tolerable, though one could definitely see its lack of detail. My small children seemed to enjoy watching their cartoon shows on the standard def channels, though. With cartoon drawings, the graininess of SDTV is much less noticeable. Watching 1080i HDTV was very satisfying. But I'm too cheap to get HD cable, and I don't watch TV that much, anyway. I'm waiting for the HD-DVD or BluRay players to become more available and affordable.

Mitsubishi amps up your home theater viewing experience with the 57-inch WD-57731 1080p digital light projection (DLP) television, which combines the TurboLight150 lamp system and the latest 1080p DLP chip to produce a big, bright and bold picture with unsurpassed detail. Because 1080p provides twice the resolution of the high definition 720p or 1080i displays found in most HDTVs today, you'll get more vivid pictures--no matter the scene or content. It delivers stunningly detailed images thanks to the high-speed Plush1080p video processor (with a 6-segment, 10,800 RPM color wheel), which up-converts 1080i signals to 1080p producing four times the resolution of traditional line doublers. The WD-57731 also features a cabinet with a simple, clean design with a compact footprint that will fit virtually any home theater furnishings without taking up a lot of space.
It includes dual HD tuners, a QAM tuner that's fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception, and a wide variety of digital inputs (including two HDMI, three component, and a Firewire port). And the set's CableCARD port means the set will also receive digital cable television systems services directly from a compatible cable operator without requiring a bulky, external cable box.
The WD-57731 has a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and compatibility with 480i/480p/720p/1080i video sources. It includes six 4:3 aspect ratio modes and two aspect ratio modes from 16:9 sources. Other convenience features include color temperature controls, full-screen image freeze, two tuner picture-in-picture (PIP), split screen, V-Chip parental controls, and a sleep timer.
It pumps out audio via its integrated 20-watt speaker system (10 watts per two channels) and also offers Mitsubishi's Level Sound Dynamics Limiter features, which evens out the sound of programs--even during loud commercial breaks. The IEEE 1394 (also known as Firewire or i.Link) multimedia connection provides simple, high-bandwidth, real-time audio, video and data networking between this Mitsubishi TV and digital video camcorders and compatible PC systems, enabling you to record SD or HD digital video with plug-and-play ease. This set features the following video and audio connections:
Composite AV (RCA): 3 in (1 front), 1 out
S-Video: 3 in (1 front)
Component Video: 2 in
HDMI: 2 in (with 2 audio inputs)
RF: 2 in
PC DVI: 1 in
Analog audio output: 1
Digital audio output: 1 (Coaxial)
Firewire: 2
CableCARD: 1

Proprietary Mitsubishi Features This television includes several exclusive Mitsubishi technologies that enhance its picture as well as ease of use.
Most important is Mitsubishi's Plush 1080p collection of imaging technologies, which up-convert lower quality images from every video source--analog and digital broadcasts, DVD players, digital cable and satellite, game consoles--to HD quality. And for a 1080p HDTV like this model, even the high quality 720p and 1080i HDTV signals being broadcast need to be reformatted. The Plush 1080p feature set scales the picture precisely, with minimal side effects. And 1080i, currently the most common form of HDTV signal, is spectacular at 1080p.
Rather than provide standard color and tint controls, Mitsubishi's PerfectColor technology enables you to adjust the screen's color palette with six independent color controls (magenta, red, yellow, green, cyan, and blue).
The patented 150-watt TurboLight lamp system focuses light more efficiently onto the DLP chip to improve image brightness 10 percent over conventional lamp systems.
Mitsubishi's 4D Video Noise Reduction system provides a cleaner, clearer picture from nearly any source by analyzing multiple frames to identify and remove video noise or snow caused by distortions in the video signal. This effectively keeps detail in the foreground and eliminates background noise, even in fast moving scenes.
Finally, the ClearThought set of features includes all-digital audio output (which converts analog audio signals to digital audio) and the NetCommand single-remote control home theater operation system (which allows you to set up and control components using simple on-screen icons). It also provides the TV Guide On Screen 8-day program guide system, which makes it easy to sort through all the television listings to find your favorite channels.

Digital Cable Ready You can connect your cable television directly from the wall to this DLP TV without going through a cable box to receive all of your cable channels, including premium channels, and get an even better picture by doing so. This set has a slot on the back for a CableCARD, a device that descrambles subscribed channels. With the CableCARD (available from your local cable TV company), the TVÕs internal tuner will tune directly to the subscribed cable channels, eliminating the need for a separate cable box.
When a digital cable TV channel is received via the CableCARD, it is decoded and remains a digital video signal all the way to the screen. Standard-definition digital channel signals are up-converted by the advanced processing capability in the set (see more about the Plush imaging feature below), giving it an HD-quality picture. The resulting image has the best possible quality, with maximum bandwidth, and minimal noise and distortion.
What's in the Box DLP TV, multibrand NetCommand remote control (with 2 AA batteries), IR emitter cable
Warranty One year on parts. One year on labor. Carry in service.

ASUS VE246H 24" LCD Monitor - Black Review

ASUS VE246H 24 LCD Monitor - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For starters this is a terrific monitor at an equally nice price point. Great performance, stout on-screen menu (OSD), setup was a breeze, simple as that.
But about that fatal bug...you use that on-screen menu to change input signal sources, natch. But the problem is that you must be connected to the currently-selected signal source to pull up the menu at all...IOW the menu doesn't live in flash memory somewhere like it does on many monitors (many older monitors at that). If you decide to switch from VGA to DVi, you need to be operating with a valid VGA signal to bring the menu up...otherwise you can't make the change. That's a problem if you make hardware changes to your computer and don't have the former signal source available anymore. What you'll have is a dark monitor waiting for you to pull up a menu that's disabled.
Usually not a problem with today's multi-format graphics cards, but here's the real-world kicker: This monitor doesn't see my Asus EN210's HDMI port. (Also reviewed.) Switched the signal source to HDMI with the OSD, but the card and the monitor weren't on speaking terms. The hitch...you can't change the input source back until you solve the HDMI signal problem. With a dark monitor. Strange design feature on an otherwise excellent piece of gear. Fix that menu glitch and this device is a shoe-in for all five stars.

ViewSonic VG2427WM 24-Inch Widescreen HD LCD Monitor Review

ViewSonic VG2427WM 24-Inch Widescreen HD LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't get me wrong. Prior to this experience I was one of ViewSonic's number one fans. I have previously worked for an authorized reseller of ViewSonic and have placed literally hundreds of units into service. I've often heard it said, however, that the true measure of a company only comes when you've had the opportunity to see how they support their products. Now that I've had that experience, I'll never buy another one. Here's why:
For Christmas I purchased a VG2427wm monitor for $250. Once it was unwrapped from under the Christmas tree, we were able to use it 3 times prior it failing to detect a signal from any CPU. I contacted support, they confirmed it was defective and despite my request to have the unit replaced with another new unit, I was told my options were to either repair the defective unit or replace it with a refurbished one. I wasn't wild about the refurbished idea so opted for a repair. Unfortunately, on the return trip from ViewSonic, the unit was damaged in shipping and sent back to their attention in California before arriving at my home. At this point I was less excited about having a new, repaired, and now crushed unit than trying a refurbished unit. I requested and was provided an advanced exchange because by this point we has been without a monitor for nearly a month. The advanced exchange was to be shipped 2nd day and I should have it before the weekend. The weekened came and went and no monitor arrived. After reviewing the RMA number on their web site, I found the unit hadn't even shipped. I contacted them AGAIN and was told they could not ship the exchange unit until they received my original unit back at their location. I expressed my dismay at this as they already had the tracking number and could see it was enroute to their facility but was told that this was policy and I had to wait. So much for "advanced exchange". I watched the tracking information and called days after its receipt when I found they STILL hadn't shipped the replacement. I was assured that the floor supervisor would unbox the replacement unit, test it and send it out ASAP. When it arrived at my home, it worked, but it also had an inch long scratch gouged into the display. GRRRRR!!!!!
Back on the phone with ViewSonic. This time they made me complete the paperwork for another advanced exchange along with my credit card number before shipping out another refurbished unit. When I finally received the unit, IT WAS DEFECTIVE!!!!! I'm now 49 days, 10 phone calls and who knows how many hours into this ordeal. It isn't until now that I find out that had the origianl unit failed within 30 days of purchse it would have been replaced with a new unit. Mine sat under the Christmas tree for 3 weeks and failed 21 days after being opened. Now I'm going after a new replacement... no questions. I've had enough.
I finally get escalated to a manager and rehash the whole disaster for literally the 10th time. They eventually agree to replace my unit with a new one BUT they don't have any VG2427wm units available. Instead, they are going to UPGRADE me to a VX2433wm. After a little research, I find that the specs for the VX2433wm are slightly better than the unit I purchased but it sells for $50 less than what I paid and does not include the adjustable base like the VG2427wm. I place ANOTHER call to ViewSonic and plead my case. Any reasonable person would feel entitled to some sort of "compensation" for what is truely the worst customer service experience of my life. ViewSonic sees my replacement of a $250 unit with a $200 unit as fair compensation.
So in the end I paid $250 for the unit, approximately $50 to ship it back for repair, spent 49+ days waiting, made more than a dozen phone calls, a total of 3 trips to the local FedEx store and HOPEFULLY will get a $199 unit with fewer ergonomic features than what I originally purchased. If you're willing to gamble, I just pray you don't end up having to call support.

If you just have to have the latest and greatest, look elsewhere. If you want a terrific value for your money, this is it. This laptop has all the features you could want, at a really excellent price. This model has been available for a year now, so it's "last year's technology", but I don't see where the "latest and greatest" is that much better. Why pay nearly half again as much money for only incremental improvement? I did a great deal of research before I picked this one as being the very best combination of features and price. The only thing wrong with it is the truly awful substitute for a mouse that it has. Maybe it's just that this is my first time using such a thing, but I think it's barely adequate. It's like trying to thread a needle while wearing boxing gloves. I ordered an MX 1100 wireless mouse that I'll be using instead. Other than that though, I am VERY happy with my purchase. Big screen, big hard disk, big battery, Windows 7 Professional, not the "Home" version. Even an eSATA port. I love this thing. :)

ASUS MT276HE - 27" Wide LCD Monitors - Black Review

ASUS MT276HE - 27 Wide LCD Monitors - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this monitor to use specifically for gaming as my current PC monitor just wasn't fast enough for gaming. My main monitor is designed for photography, graphic design or similar uses where color accuracy is more important than speed. Before I go into detail, let me just explain why I gave four stars instead of 5. I feel perfection should be hard to get. Now back to the review. The monitor is well packaged. When I received the monitor, I first tested my PS3 games and no surprise, games look fantastic. I do not really see any ghosting which I do see in my Dell U2410. Contrast and colors look great. Blu-ray movies also looked great. I was surprised at the audio as it was louder and cleaner than I expected for a 3 watt speaker. You can not turn the bass all the way up to the highest setting because the audio starts to distort but it does provide decent bass a couple of notches down. Fortunately my monitor arrived without any dead pixels. The mesh covering the speakers are an interesting choice. Nice if you like flowers but you don't really notice it unless you are paying attention to the detail.
Now the next test was connecting it to my PC. This monitor has three inputs, two digital (HDMI) and one analog (VGA). I tried the HDMI input and no surprise, the colors don't look as great as my Dell U2410 but that is to be expected since this panel is a TN 6-bit panel. It doesn't look bad but it is definitely IPS quality. The screen is a matte screen and not glossy which helps if you work in a room with direct sunlight. Glare sucks on glossy screens and so I avoid them at all cost. Glossy screens do add more contrast but in my opinion, the contrast on this monitor looks amazing.
The monitor runs pretty cool. I used to own a Dell 30" monitor and in the summertime, it made my office get really hot. Since this monitor also has an LED panel, it should use less electricity than a traditional CCFL panel.
The game I play most often is Street Fighter IV (but in a month, that will change when Super Street Fighter IV comes out). I just love how clean and smooth it looks on this screen. There is literally no lag on this monitor. I also tried Unreal Tournament 3 on my PC and wow, the game looks terrific on this monitor. This monitor is definitely my favorite monitor for gaming.
Keep in mind that since the two digital inputs on this monitor are HDMI, you may have a problem initially when you connect your PC to this monitor as it may detect it as an HDTV instead of a PC monitor. You will need to turn off overscan correction on your graphics card settings. This will get rid of the black bars on the side of the screen
The bezel on this monitor is a bit big which means those with ATI graphics cards who want to try out Eyefinity may not want to go with this monitor.
The monitor includes a handy little remote. I am personally not a fan of the credit card sized remote controls which the Asus monitor includes as they tend to get lost easily and due to its size, you can not put a great description of what each of the buttons do. The HDTV does have a slot to hide the remote but I would have rather preferred a slightly larger remote. I sometimes forget what each symbol means but I am sure after a while, I'll get over that.
The monitor includes a 3 year warranty which is rare for computer LCD monitors. Hopefully I won't have to use it but its good to know its there if I need it.
Now for some cons. First of all, I generally like to view my Blu-ray movies at 24 frames per second since that is what movies are generally filmed at. This monitor does not support 24P, or at least when I set it to 24P on my Sony Playstation 3, it loses sync when I play a Blu-ray movie. Since this monitor came out in late 2009, I was expecting it to support 24P. Also the monitor stand can not be tilted. Since I use this as a second monitor, it doesn't line up with my Dell 24" so tilting would have been nice. For the price this monitor goes for, I was hoping it would allow tilting. The volume also does not go low enough. This is a problem because it is in my office and my walls are not thick enough and so I have to wear headphones to make sure I don't wake up my 2 year old son when he is napping. All of the buttons are on the top of the Asus monitor except for the power button. All of the HDTVs in my house have the buttons located in the same section so when I want to power on or off the Asus monitor, I sometimes accidentally reach for the top. I know this is a minor detail but I just wanted to point this out.
Overall I really like this monitor a lot and am happy with my purchase. There are some other features to this monitor which I haven't mentioned yet but its nice that it has a headphone jack for when you want to game at night when everyone in your house is asleep. It has SPDIF output for when you need thumping audio through an audio receiver or a sound bar. I don't expect I'll ever use that but its good to know its there. It is not a very portable monitor but since it doesn't weigh much, you could technically use it for lan parties and such. This monitor is a keeper and I hope it lasts me a long time. If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer them. If I could give a more accurate score for this monitor, I would rate it a 4.5.

HP W2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor Review

HP W2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As an Apple devotee, I feel like a bit of a traitor writing a positive review of an HP product, but WOW this thing is great! I bought it as a second monitor to my MacBook. Apple MacBook MA701LL/A 13.3" Notebook PC (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive) - BlackThe color is brilliant, the contrast is impressive, the text pops and it's just plain beautiful to look at, even if you are working. I literally find myself working on things because I don't want to take my eyes off it.
While I love the look of Apple's cinema monitors, the price point is just so high. The HP w2207 represents a far more reasonable price point. Also, if you're a writer like me, HP makes a clip system for this series of monitors, so you can have a document holder off to the side without having to glue something to side of your monitor untiil the end of time.
If you're an art director, graphic designer, or similar artists thinking, "Ah-ha, this guy's a copywriter. What does he know about monitors?" Well I've been in advertising since 1996 and I've seen all kinds of monitors and this is one of the most impressive I've ever seen at any price.
Also, I took sometime to compare this model to others available for sale from a variety of manufacturers and no one matches the image quality in my opinion. This might seem strange for HP to come out on top in comparison to other companies that specialize in monitors, but the truth is people largely, buy their computers based on the quality and look of the monitor. Apple realized this early on and apparently someone told HP too. I wonder how many HP computer bundles are going to be sold based on the performance of this beauty?
Sure, it takes a little adjustment both on the monitor itself and on the display portion of the system preferences, but it's easy enough.
Plus, the built in speakers are much better than you'd expect from a monitor and the built in 2 USB hub is a nice little touch. More would have been better, but an extra usb port is always nice.
All of this said, there are some flaws with this monitor.
1. The rotating screen landscape-or-portrait function is great, but it doesn't work with the MacBook in Mac mode. What I'm talking about is the ability to physically turn the monitor and have the display go into a portrait arrangement. It's probably too much to ask for from a monitor made by a PC manufacturer, but it would have been nice if the software bundle would have included something for us, Mac people. It still works with the MacBook just fine in landscape mode, but it would have been nice to have this particular bell and whistle.
2. The monitor does have a DVI connection as well as an analog VGA connection, but it only comes with an analog VGA wire. Don't settle for VGA, when there's DVI to be had! Order a DVI wire with your order like this one.Cables To Go 2m DVI-D M/M Dual Link Digital Video Cable The response time is appreciably faster than with VGA. It's slight, but it's there.
3. Hopefully, this won't be an issue, but its warranty is for only one year, while others come with a three year warranty. This is a little disconcerting, but I'd rather have one year of looking at this screen than 3 years of looking at washed out or drab monitor.
4. The screen does pick up reflections more readily than other flat panels.
And even with these shortcomings, I've still got to give it 5 stars. It's just that beautiful!
UPDATE: Although mine did not, this monitor now does come with a DVI cable. So you won't need to buy one separately.

HP W2408 Vivid Color 24-inch Widescreen Flat LCD Monitor with BrightView Panel Review

HP W2408 Vivid Color 24-inch Widescreen Flat LCD Monitor with BrightView Panel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note: Just had this monitor a few days but since no one has written a review I thought I would provide my initial thoughts keeping in mind that HP is not known for its customer support so I am hoping I don't get punished for taking a chance with them. So do keep in mind this is review based on less than a week.
My configuration: I mainly use my MacPro with the standard 256Meg graphics card. I pluged it into the DVI plug. I also have a Dell computer and I pluged it into the VGA plug so I can test post OSX and Vista (Business). However, my main machine is the MacPro so I will leave the details to a Vista person but will give you my intial reaction.
Wanted a large nice monitor without a matte finish and from my observations the HP W2408 was better than the rest of the field. The W2408 is very similar to the W2207 with the glossy screen and mandatory for me a pivot screen. The pivot feature is implemented well although with such a big screen there is only so much you can do with the screen in portrait mode. The W2408 is similar to the W2207 but 2 inches bigger (it is a monster but a nice monster) and a higher resolution. Before I continue let me eliminate some misinformation that ran rampant in reviews of the W2207 which I hope doesn't happen here. The box DOES, I repeat does contain both the DVI, VGA, and USB cables so if you don't have them you've been shortchanged. For Mac users, Yes, I repeat yes, you can rotate the screen if your Mac is at least no older than three years old. A down side is that the software/drivers are for Windows not Mac. However, it doesn't matter. The Mac has it's own drivers and I was up and running within the five minutes. There were some minor tweaks done in "preferences" and the HP on screen menu. On the Windows side I installed the software and happily surprised that I had the latest version. The installation in Vista was simple and uneventful. One downside is the autopivot/rotation software didn't work as it didn't work for some for the HP 2208. My Vista computer with an ATI card can assign a hotkey to rotate the screen so no big deal for me. For the Mac you have to go into Preferences and then click to rotate but I also have activated the display icon to make it easier to change from landscape to portrait.
Now the good part where I can seem less objective. The screen is beautiful! It blows others out of the tub IMO. The colors are so vibrant and a joy to view. Photographs look much more like the real thing and DVD movies almost look HD. Since this is HD resolution and has. HDCP for future expansion with Blu-ray and HD-DVD. It is simply a beautiful screen that looks better what currently Apple has to offer and much cheaper. The downside might be related to the strengths. It is best viewed straight on but the viewing angle isn't that bad. With bright sunlight you might have reflection but I cans imply live with it. It also has an ambient light sensor that helps. Overall I give it 4 1/2 stars (5 is nearest) since it should have more software for Mac (but still OK) and the Vista software doesn't work perfectly but good enough. The price is reasonable and should come down later. Should you instead get the 2207 instead of the 2408? It is $200 cheaper. That's a close call. With the 2407 you get a large screen and believe me you can live with a 24 inch screen. It also has a higher native resolution which I can tell when compared to the 2207. I would say it's a tossup. If you want to save money I think you will love the W2207 almost as much. I spent the extra money so my Photoshop CS3 has lots of real estate.

HP L2208w 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor Review

I purchased this monitor to go with my MacPro 15" laptop. Because of all the great Amazon reviews, I was all ready to buy a Samsung for about $100 more, but when I saw how crisp and clear my boss's HP display was I changed my mind and purchased the HP L2208w. I love it! The color is a little cooler than my laptop display but it's totally adjustable through the Monitor>Color>Calibration>Advanced control panel. The display is crisp with full color and saturation ranges and nice deep blacks for photograph editing. It took about 3 minutes to get it out of the box, plugged in and in use. At first I used it in duel monitor mode with my laptop but now, most of the time I just leave my laptop closed and use the HP as my sole monitor. It coordinates nicely with my laptop and Apple keyboard too. The only thing I don't like about it is the adjustment controls. I can't actually see any labels or icons on them to give a clue what does what, though I think they are there, they're so faint I can't see them. That said, there are an ABUNDANCE of adjustments you can make, everything you can thing of, and if you click around enough, you'll eventually get it exactly where you want it. It's a really great monitor at a fantastic price and I couldn't be happier with it.

I'll make it short... the product is fantastic at a great price. its NOT a TV but hook in a cable box, HDMI, or Apple TV, etc and you have your TV. right out of the box it works, i have connected it to 2 different computer, one MAC and one PC, and it's easy switch between them. the sharpness is un matched from the LED....so much value... also Electronica Direct was fantastic to deal with... for you advanced guys, you can get it tweaked just right to be even more amazing. one more thing, you can have picture in picture as well as 2 full size screens open at one time as 27`is so large ...see you in the PITs....i'll get there but i'm ecstatic and so here i sit...cheers

Excellent display, colors are great - looks great, physical buttons to control the settings and a power light that isn't bright enough to be a night light. Stand is a little wobbly but not bad and this is pretty much the same with all LED monitors. I would buy another one in a second.

Samsung SyncMaster 275T+ 27-inch LCD Monitor Review

Samsung SyncMaster 275T+ 27-inch LCD Monitor

The vital consideration for a monitor is the relation between diagonal measurement of size and the number of pixels on the screen--neither one alone is enough. I've found this 27-inch monitor to be perfect for 1920 x 1200 (from a ThinkPad T61p with digital connection). A display this size needs to be further away from the eyes to see everything; I find about 30 inches from my face to be comfortable. At this distance both the Windows UI and webpage defaults produce type which is easy to read and still gets a lot of content onscreen at once. In Word, for example, it is very easy to edit two documents side by side seeing all of both full pages at the same time. In a browser it is easy to see two webpages side by side.

Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP 30-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor Review

Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP 30-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
Average Reviews:

I've only had this monitor for about a week so far, but it is amazing. Super bright, clear, dynamic image. Has a ton of inputs.
The 3008 has inputs for VGA, component, HDMI, 2 DVI inputs, S-Video, and composite. And best of all, it's got an input for DisplayPort which is what the next standard will apparently be. Because it has a built-in scaler, it can handle just about anything you plug into it.
Along with the graphics work I do, games look great also. Playstation 3 looks awesome!
The screen is so large that at normal viewing distances it practically fills your view.
It's also got a USB in, so you have 4 extra USB ports, 2 on the side of the monitor and 2 at the input panel. The side panel also has a built-in card reader.
Very happy with it so far.
