I have built dozens of HTPCs over the years. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of using this case in a build. Out of all the prefab HTPC cases, this is the only one I have run across that would be worthy to be used in my own system. Everything is remarkably thick and is built heavy duty. The case is tall enough for nearly any aftermarket cooler. Be forewarned that extra long video cards and power supplies may not fit so measure accordantly.

I bought this case after returning a thermaltake case that arrived dented. I was going to buy another thermaltake but saw this one. Im glad I did this one is quite a bit sturdier and I like the looks better. I think its all aluminum where I think all but the face plate on the thermaltake was steel. Fit all of my components nicely and matches my onkyo reciever well. Setting up the display was dificult at first but I found a nice tutorial.

I love my case, this case is beautiful, tough, and huge. You wont regret it at all even after you pay such a high price.

The main structure for the TJ07 is crafted from a solid extruded aluminum panel measuring more than 164cm (5.3 feet) in length and 4mm to 8mm in thickness. Using a process never before seen in PC cases, the panel was then arched precisely on two sides with automotive-caliber press machines to create the top, front, and bottom sides of the chassis. The end result is an aluminum chassis frame with more than twice the structural rigidity over average steel cases, helping to practically eliminate vibration-induced noise. Thanks to this process, SilverStone engineers was freed to place more large fans at strategic positions to significantly improve cooling while keeping noise to a minimum.

Zalman HD160XTPlusBlack Home Theatre Case (Black) Review

Zalman HD160XTPlusBlack Home Theatre Case (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had one of these for about a year and a half now. I had decided to upgrade my "main" computer but had a pretty recent motherboard/CPU/memory setup which I decided was more than adequate for setting up as a media device. Of course, from there, the whole project just sort of GREW... and once I started looking at the case to mount it in, I fell in love with this one.
This is now, along with my Pioneer 1019 receiver, the centerpiece of my Home Theater setup. I have it at the bottom of a (fan-ventilated) stereo cabinet. It will generate a fair amount of heat, and it's reasonably heavy... and has the largest footprint of any of my electronic devices, to boot. So, it really can't sit directly on top of anything else. It's a SOLID piece of hardware.
The finish is beautiful. It is actually the "prettiest" part of my system. Note that the entire case is made of black-anodized, brushed aluminum. It's resistant to scratching and marring (as compared to a painted surface), though you should still treat it with care.
This is a full-size case... you don't require "half-height" PC components to build inside of this. This means it's larger than some other options out there, but it also means you can put a lot more POWER into the space, and still have it run pretty coolly.
The front panel is a really nice touch. It's not "crucial" to use, and I seldom use controls on the front (though if the remote fails, you can do pretty much anything using those controls). The big knob is a volume control and a "press to mute" button as well. The twelve buttons under the touchscreen are pre-configured to be replications of some of the most common remote-control buttons. But the main feature is the screen, which is a TOUCH SCREEN. You can basically control your PC entirely using this, which even includes a "smartphone" style virtual keyboard.
But for me, I mainly leave the front panel as a display unit... it's my graphic equalizer display when running any of my media software, and when not, it's a basic "system status display" (CPU activity, memory status, hard drive status, network status, email status, etc, all rotating). I have a little "news streamer" at the bottom, as well.
The remote isn't a typical remote... you'll want to use the provided remote rather than some "universal remote" because its features are pretty unique. It has the normal remote control buttons, of course, but it also has the center "pad" which isn't like any other remote I've seen... it can serve (through a toggle button) as either the keyboard arrow keys, or the mouse pointer. It has a series of buttons around it which are analogs of important keyboard keys... backspace, space, escape, enter, left-mouse-click, right-mouse-click, start-menu, and application-menu, task-switcher ("alt-tab"), system shutdown, application shutdown, plus an optical-disk-eject button. Plus a special "application launcher" (which lets you pull up a quick menu for your favorite media apps without use of a keyboard, and which allows one "most used" program to be assigned to a one-button-launch on the remote... I use Media Center for that, but you can assign anything you wish).
So, while I use my Harmony remote for every other element of my system, I still keep the Zalman (actually Soundgraph iMon, rebranded for this case) remote out at all times as well.
This isn't a "computer case" as much as it is a "very high end stereo equipment" case, which just happens to be made to hold computer hardware.
It's easy to work with, easy to install and maintain.
There are a couple of things to bear in mind. First, the front-display is a SLIGHTLY older design... it isn't a separate "smart" device (iMon has replaced this with what's basically a freestanding PC-let now, connected purely by USB, but this device is a keyboard/mouse/moniitor without a "brain" of it's own). This means it needs both an internal USB connection to your motherboard (not a problem with any modern PC board designs) but also needs a free VGA port on your video card. Yes, VGA... not HDMI or DVI. Virtually all video cards have multiple outputs these days, and quite a few still have VGA ports, of course. Mine has an HDMI, a DVI, and a VGA port, in fact. And there are "DVI-to-VGA adaptors" which you can use if you don't have a VGA port but have a free DVI port.
There's a VGA cable which snakes through the case, out the back, and then connects to the free VGA port (or adapter) on your video card. Without this... no front-panel display.
Second... the case needs proper ventilation. You need to ensure good airflow all around. If it's in a tightly-packed cabinet with limited airflow, it's going to get pretty hot, and your hardware won't last as long. If it gets too hot (like with ANY computer) you might expect to see crashes.
There's only room for a single optical drive. I recommend getting a blu-ray burner. You'll be snapping off the front tray cover from that drive, and sticking the included drive cover on in its place. The included piece is a perfect match to the case itself, of course... but it only says "DVD" and I wish mine said "Blu-ray" instead. Oh well... that's just a quibble, isn't it?
This was a very expensive purchase, but I use this every day... and you get what you pay for. This is the nicest HTPC case I've ever seen. And I've never once had even the smallest regret for having gone for the "best option" here.
Right now, Zalman isn't offering a new version of this case. Soundgraph, the company which makes the iMon display panel at the center of this case, has recently released their new version (as mentioned above) and it's not 100% compatible... it's not a drop-in replacement, in other words. So I suspect Zalman is currently working up the revised version of this case. But you can't go wrong with this case... it's a keeper as far as I'm concerned!

Silverstone FT02S Fortress Aluminum Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Silverstone FT02S Fortress Aluminum Mid-Tower Chassis
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a case that would be both quiet and keep my overclocked components cool. So far this case has been excellent in both regards.
For those who may not be familiar with Silverstone's new case designs, this case is unique. Instead of the motherboard being vertical and plugging everything into the back of a case, this one has the motherboard mounted horizontally and you plug everything into the top. This provides allot of benefits, but is very different from almost every other case on the market. In short, the FT02's strengths are also it's weaknesses - depending on how you look at it.
I've been building PCs since 1990. This isn't a simple case for an inexperienced builder. The FT02 requires forethought, planning, and careful execution to get the most out of it. I highly recommend that anyone considering this case go to SilverStone's web site and read the manual first. The manual does a very good job of explaining clearance for components and how to install everything.
What's good:
1. Runs Quiet and Cool: Outside air comes in through the bottom and is exhausted out the top. This allows for natural heat convection.
2. Airflow: There are 3 180mm fans on the bottom of the case that blow air up, and 1 120mm fan on the top for exhaust. There are 3 switches under the top panel, 1 for each fan, that can be set to low or high. Personally I have all 4 fans controlled through the fan connectors on my motherboard so I leave the switches on high.
3. Keeps the Dust Out: This case employs positive pressure and filters to keep dust out. 3 180mm fans blow air in and only 1 120mm fan blows air out. The 3 180mm fans on the bottom each have their own intake filter. When more air is coming in than going out, we call that "positive pressure" because the air pressure inside the case is greater than the pressure outside the case. Most cases have more air going out than coming in which results in negative pressure inside the case. The main downside to negative pressure is that air is drawn into the case from every crack, orifice, seam, etc., and none of those entrance points have filters. The result is that dust gets into the case. Whereas with positive pressure, air only goes out through cracks, orifices, etc. The only air that comes into this case is through the 3 180mm fans with their filters. To keep this case performing well, remember to clean the filters regularly. It would've been nice if the filters were accessible without taking a side panel off.
4. 5 Vibration Damped 3.5" Hard Drive Cages: There are 5 hot-swap drive bays. Each comes with a plastic cage to mount a drive and uses rubber grommets to minimize vibration. 1 of the 5 bays comes with a SilverStone CP05 SATA II hot-swap connector. For the other 4 you just use cables as normal. SilverStone offers the CP05 hot-swap connector separately if you want the other bays to be swappable - they tend to run for $5-$10 which seems reasonable. To some folks, plastic drive cages may be a bad thing, but I prefer plastic. They dampen vibration and they'll never scratch the drives, unlike aluminum and steel drive cages. Many servers from the likes of HP, Dell, and IBM also use plastic drive cages.
What could be bad depending on your situation:
1. Top Panel Clearance: Because everything plugs into the top of the case, there's a perforated top panel that covers all of the ports. If you have any cables that use an adapter (like a VGA to DVI adapter), there may not be enough clearance between the port and the top panel. This wasn't an issue for me. Having said that, I really like being able to pop the top cover off and have easy access to see and work with the ports rather than pulling my case away from the wall and awkwardly fumbling with trying to see and connect cables and ports.
2. Door On the Right Side: Since this case mounts the motherboard differently, the primary access into the case is from the right side panel instead of the left side. For me, this meant re-locating the case so I wouldn't have to jump through hoops to get inside it, but it wasn't a big deal for me.
3. Cable Management: The case is designed to route cables behind the motherboard, but the clearance from the motherboard tray to the left side panel is a little tight. So it took a little extra effort to position the cables flat. In my case, the left panel bulges out ever-so-slightly. I don't notice it and neither has anyone who's seen it. So while I like the cable management, I do with they'd provided an extra 3/8" - 1/2" of clearance to accommodate thicker and/or stiffer cables.
4. 5.25" Drive Length: Because of the motherboard position and SilverStone's need to try to keep the size of this case reasonable, there's limited clearance for the length of 5.25" devices like DVD drives. It wasn't a problem for me, but it's possible there are some long 5.25" devices that won't fit in this case.
5. Top Panel Ports: Microphone, Headphones, and 2 USB connectors, but no FireWire port(s). Personally I would've liked a FireWire port on the top, but it's not that big of a deal.
6. Ground Clearance: Because the primary air comes from the bottom, the case has about 1" of ground clearance on the bottom. So the air intake may be obstructed if you plan on putting this case on thick carpet. I have it on a platform, so it wasn't an issue for me.
7. Case Depth: 24" from front to back, which is allot, but keep in mind that most full tower cases run 20" deep or more, so it's not ridiculous. I don't mind the depth, but this may be a problem in some situations. Note that the power supply intake in the rear of the case will prevent one from pushing the case right up against something in the rear. However if you have a power supply like mine which doesn't have a side intake, it's a good thing because you can push the case to within 1/2" of a wall or desk or whatever. Since this case has no ports in the back and my power supply happens to not have a side intake, I like being able to push case right up against the wall.
8. Hybrid Aluminum & Steel: Just so you know, this case has both steel and aluminum construction. It's not an all-aluminum case. This isn't a LAN-party case by any means - it's way too big and heavy for that. I'm happy with that because all-aluminum cases tend to be noisier and are more easily damaged, and my case stays home. Apparently the uni-body aluminum that they advertise is only talking about a single piece of aluminum that makes up the front, bottom, and back of the case. The top of the case is sheathed in thin-gauge aluminum, and the 5.25" drive bay covers are made of brushed aluminum. Everything else is steel, including the side panels and the motherboard tray.
9. Side Panels: Each side panel attaches via 2 thumbscrews on the top of the case under the top panel. I would've preferred if they had designed a latching mechanism to quickly and easily remove and secure the side panels. This can be inconvenient if you're someone who's constantly going into their case. The top panel itself is fixed via 4 snap-in connectors and works fine.
The bad:
1. Fit & Finish: I expected a little more from a SilverStone case that costs this much. The 5.25" drive bay covers are brushed aluminum and appear different than the front of the case making the front have a bit of a 2-toned look. They're both silver: just different shades. The seams between the 5.25" drive bay covers and the front of the case were slightly uneven, but I fixed that by loosening the screws and repositioning the 5.25" covers. The seams between the top cover and the case could be better. My case has no blemishes. Overall I'm satisfied. If I had it to do over again, I might have opted for the black version of this case - the FTO2B.
I would've liked to give 4.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I'll give it 5. It does what it does very well and I'm very happy with it. It's worth repeating the FT02's strengths are also it's weaknesses. The great noise and airflow characteristics, by necessity, mean that many things considered normal for a case have to be handled differently with the FT02. It isn't the absolute quietest case out there, nor does it have the absolute best airflow/cooling properties, but it manages to be excellent in both of those areas which is very rare. Trust me - I've used full tower cases from CoolerMaster, Thermaltake, Lian Li, etc. So far, no other case has come close to being this quiet while keeping my overclocked components this cool.

SilverStone FT01B-W Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Uni-Body Computer Case with Window Side Panel - Retail (Black)
Average Reviews:

Let me start by saying this is an awesome mid-sized tower computer case. However, there are a few flaws. I'm gonna keep it short but sweet:
Pros: Plenty, I won't go into details, but here's a quick list: Compact, easy to assemble/use, outstanding airflow capabilities, positive airflow, dust shields, heat absorption material on the side panels, as well as the clear side panels so you can keep an eye on your water coolers (if applicable), plenty of rom bays and well as 7 hard drive bays!
Cons (hoping SilverStone will read it and make the corrections on future models):
- A little tight, if you're an overclocker, and size is not an issue, I hear there's a full size version of the Fortress available. Look for it. I could have used a little more space, but it was sufficient for what I needed it for. Not really Silverstone's fault, but my fault for not looking to see if there's a larger size. Just letting you other guys know in case you're thinking of which size to go with. If size is not an issue, go with the bigger one. But this one still rocks!
- CP05 hot swapable SATA 2 adapters. One came with the case, but just as a teaser. I didn't care much for it because I did not need hot swapable drives, but when it came to cable management to make the cables in the back neat, it became a nightmare without these things. I kinda wish I had 5 more for all 6 drives. Went online to search for it and they do sell them, however the ones on the market now are straight connectors and not the 90 degree angled one that came with the case. What a tease! I called Silverstone and they said they don't have nor do they make one that came with the case. Bummer!
- Hard drive brackets not tool-less! "Why, oh why?!? They could have come up with a better design for this!" -- my exact thoughts while I was putting in the 24 screws (4 for each of my drives) for my 6 drive setup.
- 5.25 drive bays, quick lock/release mechanism, nice! But the contruction needed work. It didn't line up correctly with a 3rd party fan control unit, so I had to switch it out and use their brand. Also, their instructions didn't mention the locking hooks on the back side, so I was fumbling with it for a little bit till I figured it out.
Overall, awesome product and I still give it 5 stars. Just wish the little stuff mentioned above were done better. Hope this helps someone. And if anyone knows where to get the CP05 with the 90 degree connector, like the one that came with the case, please let me know!!!! Share!

More than two years after the introduction of the world\'s first uni-body PC chassis, the SilverStone Temjin TJ07, a new product line was created to extend this unique construction further into other applications. The first model for this line is the Fortress FT01, which sports the same super strong uni-body frame as its predecessor but with even more sleeker profile thanks to its smaller size. Designed with positive air pressure concept, it enables better cooling performance than traditional chassis but also helps to prevent dust from penetrating into the chassis by use of filters on intake fans and forcing air out of the chassis through unfiltered vents and gaps. Comprised of modern touches such as quick release drive cages and dual 180mm fans, this case is easily the top choice for anyone looking to assemble a top of the line midsize system.

This case is totally awesome. Very solid construction and well worth every dollar I paid for it. The three fans on the bottom keep everything cool inside. The case rotates the motherboard 90 degrees, which give easier access and does a better job at allowing the air from the bottom fans to pass over keeping things nice and cool.

SilverStone TJ10B-WNV TJ10 NVIDIA Edition Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case (Black) Review

SilverStone TJ10B-WNV TJ10 NVIDIA Edition Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Part of me feared that I was nuts to spend the amount of funds that I spent on this computer case, but after it arrived, and I installed my X58 SLI motherboard into it, I was delighted to discover all of this case's well thought-out features. It was truly a luxury to slide out the motherboard tray from the chassis and install my motherboard onto just the tray itself. Note that you must install the spacer screws into the tray first so that your motherboard does not make contact with the chassis.
The main reason that I purchased this computer case is that I wanted to cool down my nVidia GTX 295 card that was running at 75 degrees celcius in my old, cheap, single-fan computer case. After installing everything into the SilverStone TJ10B-WNV case, my GTX 295 ran at 49 degrees celcius! The five fans that are included with the SilverStone case reduced the operating temp of my video card by 26 degrees celcius!! I WAS going to invest in an expensive water-cooled system to cool down all of the boards, but now I don't have to!
One thing that you should note before purchasing this case is that it is not only tall, but also very deep! At first, I tried placing this case under my computer desk, where my former case resided; but this SilverStone case stuck out five inches in front of the desk even though I had pushed the case all the way to the back of the desk. I wound up placing the case to the side of my computer desk instead of under it. The extra space is well utilized, however, as that is how the case keeps the airflow moving and the hot power supply and disk drives away from the boards.
The bottom line is that I am happy to own the SilverStone TJ10B-WNV, and I love the nVidia theme that is silkscreened on the case. I also don't regret spending the extra money on this case as it is the Rolls-Royce of computer cases! Considering that you can cool down all of your boards with just this case instead of buying an expensive water-cooling system, you actually get a lot of bang for your bucks.
P.S. The up-charge for the nVidia theme is more than made up for by the inclusion of five (5) fans instead of just two (2) fans like the non-nVidia-themed version of this case. (i.e. the SST-TJ10B-W)

I have owned numerous Antec 900's for a while now, and was very happy with them. Since purchasing a amd 1090t, a gtx 480, 2 terrabytes of HD's, 8 gigs of ddr3... my case has been a bit over stuffed, and it was very visible in the temperature in the case. Even at full speed on the fans, the MCP was hovering at 168, HD's at 105, and CPU at 89. (massive thermal take cpu cooler). I tried to purchase the antec 1200 for the extra space and cooling, but none were in stock... I saw a few reviews on this one, and decided I would give it a shot.
Over all, it is a very well thought out system. Temps are better now, HD's 95, MCP 140, CPU 66. There is a dedicated GPU cooler, with air ducts on the side. VERY nice idea, and works well. (I dont have a before temp to compare with, but just placing my hand near it there is a significant differance).
In pretty much every mid atx case you will run into a lot of issues of the GTX 260/gtx 480's not fitting, or being too snug. In this case, there is about 4 inches between the end of my 480, and the gpu cooler.
Some key things I liked about this... BAGS of spare screws... They didn't skimp on them at all. There is plenty in there to build your system 6x over and still have spare screws.
I like the sideways mount HD's with the 120mm fan in there. I like how the PSU is at the bottom. I like the ample space all around EVERY component.
If you buy this case, you MUST also buy 3 - 120mm fans. (2 for the top, 1 for the HD bays)
The only real issue now.... I need more hardware to make it not look so empty. I might also need to re-enforce my desk, as this thing is HEAVY.

The Temjin TJ09 is the first SilverStone chassis designed with graphics card cooling as one of the priorities. To meet this challenge, a brand new mid-section air duct was created to bypass the hard drive cage, allowing the strategically placed 120mm to draw cool air from outside of the chassis and blow it directly onto the expansion slot area. CPU and hard drives are also cooled exclusively by 120mm fans to maximize airflow while reducing noise. Covered in styling reminiscent of beautiful chassis of years past, the TJ09's advanced structure is second in stiffness only to the unibody designed TJ07. If you have been waiting for a chassis with plenty of technical and aesthetic excellence worthy of an upgrade, then the TJ09 is the one.

Well designed lightweight case with high quality quiet fans. While the case is large on the inside, it is mostly empty. This does allow for good air flow to help cool the inside components. However, there are only 6 slots for internal hard disks, 8 would be a better number for a case this large. The price of this case is also one of its big drawbacks. At $350, it is definitely one of the most expensive cases I have ever bought. There are many cases that will satisfy the need for a quiet case on a lower budget.

Based on the superb Temjin TJ09 chassis released in 2006, the Temjin TJ10 takes another step forward in perfecting the fusion of classic tower styling with the latest in chassis technology. While structurally the same, the TJ10 adds numerous new details to set itself apart from the TJ09. The unique mid-section air duct, which was created to bypass the hard drive cage with 120mm fan to draw cool air from outside of the chassis, can now offer additional support points for extended length graphics cards. The effective cooling layout provided by the all 120mm fan design has been tweaked to further encourage more airflow. For enthusiasts that prefer having a front door with outstanding chassis design and finish, the Temjin TJ10 is a must have.

I got tired of going through loud cheap cases. I've departed from the days of flashing lights, decked out in led fans, and fan controllers. This time around I was set on having a nice quiet build with a case that'll last me through several builds.
This case fit the bill. It was delivered to the office and was immediately surrounded by the geeks and programmers around me. It's a thing of beauty. The thought in design and attention to detail is evidence by the nice finish, huge huge 180mm fans on the bottom (3 of them), the space around the inside cabin for the install, the rubber grommets in the hard drive trays (vertical for better cooling), and I could go on. Even my girlfriend admired it's beauty and took the opportunity to explain that quality purses and shoes are the same way. I now understand how they can even contemplate spending hundreds of dollars on those things.
To address a few of the complaints other reviewers mention. My power buttons were flush. Panels fit square and true. My 7 year old dvd drive was a bit too long so I had to move it down a few brackets but that's an issue of the older drives. The opening for installing a cpu fan, I don't even know what this is about. The case is plenty roomy and has way more room than the typical mid tower. I always install the cpu and cpu cooler on the motherboard first and then move the whole motherboard into the case anyways. On that note, gigabyte x58a-ud3r, i7-920, Zalman cnsp10x quiet, and Corsair TR3X6G1600C7 XMS3 6 GB PC3-12800 fit just right.
As for cooling, I was getting about 31C without the top 120mm fan on. Had plenty of air flow through the case with just the bottom 3 fans. No overclock. There's a nice pleasant low frequency hum. My hp core2 quad at work is much louder.
Note that what other reviewers say about this case being big. It's significantly taller and deeper then the standard midtower. So get the measurements for the case and see if it works out for you. I'm extremely happy with this case.

Combining two of SilverStone's most distinctive computer chassis breakthroughs - the unibody construction of the Temjin TJ07, introduced in 2005, and the 90-degrees rotated motherboard mount of the RAVEN RV01 from 2008 - the Fortress FT02 advances both chassis construction and thermodynamics in a dynamic, streamlined design. With the Fortress FT02, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage and an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Available in black and silver colors, its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminum frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose. The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.
