Billingham 445 - Shoulder bag for camera - leather, canvas - black Review

Billingham 445 - Shoulder bag for camera - leather, canvas - black

I have struggled to find a camera bag that was flexible enough to handle all of my camera gear (Nikon body, 3 big lenses, one small lense, wireless remote, light meter, flash and various needed gadgets). It seemed like I was either trying to cram too much stuff into too little a camera bag or I was working with some huge backpack with straps and snaps rattling all over everywhere.
This bag has none of those problems and while it is expensive - it lives up to the motto of "you get what you pay for". This bag is easy to set up and is tall enough that the lenses can stand up, which gives you more equipment in a smaller footprint. I have no trouble getting all of my gear in this bag and it still has room for my laptop and cords. Even with all of this, it fits into an airplane overhead without any trouble and doesn't seem nearly as big as the alternative camera bags.
This has an inside zipper to shut the bag with an inside carry handle if you don't want to close the top flap and secure it. This means that you can get into and out of the bag without leaving your gear exposed (zip it shut) and then close the top flap and secure it when you are done shooting and ready to move on. This also means that someone can't slip into your bag once the flap is down and strapped because they can't get to the zipper easily. There are some inside roomy pockets to hold more gear and your laptop (if you want it along). While softsided, the bag has plenty of padding to protect your gear and keep things from bouncing around inside the bag.
With all my gear loaded up the bag gets pretty heavy (because of the gear - not the bag) and yet the shoulder strap is comfortable and surprisingly makes the load feel lighter than it does when you first lift it up. I have tried a lot of bags including flipsides, backpacks and shoulder bags - none of them came even close. The workmanship on this bag is amazing, well thought out and worth every penny. This is the last camera bag that I will ever buy and my only regret is that I didn't buy this one first.

A firm favourite with serious photographers all over the world. The 445 has recently undergone a substantial re-design.The main compartment now includes four extra full depth pockets. The single, straight-path zip top opening is retained but has now been reprofiled, so that it is possible for the zip panels to lie out of the way behind the inside pockets, to form the Billingham TukTop. In use the zip can remain open and protected with the main flap. The simple straight zip path ensures long, trouble-free life. The extra height ofthe 445, allows a hammerhead flashgun to stand upright in the bag. The adjustable Delta shoulder sling comes complete with a leather and neoprene SP20 shoulder pad.A new accessory, the G4 Computer Slip, will fit into the front pocket of the 445, allowing a laptop computer to be safely carried. I fly alot and out of all the rolling bags I've owned this is the best! Plenty of room for equipment and it slides right into any overhead, 737's, 757's+ and probably MD-80's. Don't try to get it on an express jet, You'll have to check it at the gate BUT you can remove the insert and carry it on board any small plane, leave the shell for the baggage handlers to kick around. Padding is good but could be better under the gear . The wheels could be a little bigger. I can't fit my MacBookPro into the computer pocket, so I tuck it inside the camera compartment where it's nice and snug, does put some stress on the self healing zipper (zipper needs to be bigger). I take out the computer when I board the plane so the bag fits better in the overheard and I can do some retouching and tweaking in flight.I now have two Delsey 52's which I rotate. It's the only camera bag I've found with a removable insert.

Tamrac 5552 Black SpeedRoller 2 Rolling Photo/Laptop Case (Black) Review

Great design, suitable for air travel and most overhead storage. The rolling wheels are well balanced and roll smooth. The 'laptop' area is not very well padded and rather large - good for just bringing the laptop from point a to point b, though I wouldn't check the bag or store for long term with the laptop in there. Material seems to be durable, the extendable handle is sturdy and collapses smooth. Would definitely recommend.
Photo of my gear in the bag: [...]
After going through a few bags over the years, this is probably my most favorite. Though not a replacement for a backpack if you plan to hike - this is definitely great for keeping in your car, moving from job to job, traveling, and general storage.

Tenba 632-342 Shootout Medium Backpack with Wheels (Siver/Black) Review

Tenba 632-342 Shootout Medium Backpack with Wheels (Siver/Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ok folks...To start I must say that this bag is of the highest build quality. It is put together VERY well...
I ordered it hoping to us it to carry all my new camera equipment. This includes a D300, 12-24, 18-200, 70-300, 50 1.4, 10.5 fisheye, and a medium tripod. Ok, a good amount of gear I admit, but certainly no more than is suggested could fit in it's description...and it did. But just barely and certainly with no room left for anything else.
And this sucker is big...Don't let the "medium" moniker mislead you. Most prominently it is thick and fully loaded with gear, its even thicker. But justifiably so, It's got a lot going on. Lot's of space, roller bag AND backpack with tripod holder.
So...great bag, exceptional build quality, holds a decent amount of gear but not enough accessory room for my needs. Although it did fit all my camera gear, there was very little additional room for all the other miscellaneous do-dads that go along with a camera setup. Manuals, filters, portable hard drives, cleaning gear, cables, batteries, chargers, etc...etc...
This bag will definitely do a good job of carrying and protecting your delicate camera setup...just don't plan on taking it ALL with you. You WILL have to pick and choose what you want to have with you...
All in all a thumbs up...

Clik Elite CE405BK Elite Pro (Black) Review

Clik Elite CE405BK Elite Pro (Black)
Average Reviews:

This bag is large, spacious, and holds tons of gear. It is well made and the little dividers that "snug" your lenses work great - almost too well at times. My only complaints: the square shaped compartments make it a little harder at times to zip/unzip them one handed. The "snug" dividers don't allow any room to get your hands in to pull the lens out when it's a small lens like a 50mm. So you need to leave a little room. Make sure you take the time to adjust the straps so that the waist belt rest on your hips. The bag will ride a little lower on your back, but this is most comfortable. I just spent about 4 hours hiking sand dunes with all my camera gear and my tripod attached. It was heavy and it hurt for the first hour. But once I adjusted the straps, it was comfortable for the rest of the day. I'm 5'11" and 175 pounds and i had to have the shoulder straps on the largest/tallest setting to get the waist belt on my hips, so it may not be a good bag for taller people otherwise it'll go right across your fat gut.

Tamrac 5263 Black CyberPro Express Rolling Photo/Laptop Briefcase (Black) Review

Tamrac 5263 Black CyberPro Express Rolling Photo/Laptop Briefcase (Black)
Average Reviews:

Tamrac has done it again...
This bag is the answer to all of your SLR & Computer travel needs. First off, it is very well protected with heavy padding. This particular model can EASILY fit your SLR system...including 6 lens and a flash...and you'll probably still have room to spare. Inside compartment comes equipt with NUMEROUS removeable sections. Heavy duty velcro allows you to organize it in whatever way you deem necessary. Laptop section easily fits oversized laptops (mine's a gaming grade Alienware). Section also has a protection pad on the bottom of it that flips up so that section will collapse when not in use.
In addition to all of that there are two outside flap pockets on the side, one portfolio type zipper pocket on the front flap, and an additional organizational section in front of the laptop section that is equipt with numerous pockets... Read: plenty of room for PDAs, paperwork, gadgets and gizmos. :) Other points of interest include a well made telescoping handle. It locks in place when you need it to lock, and it collapses when you need it to collapse. No more struggling with handles on this bag! ...and when the handles is not in use it fits into another zipper section. Rolling casters roll in all directions...not just forward and backward. You can literally spin this bag in a circle with only the use of one hand. This means that the bag won't tip, even if your pulling it behind you, off balance whie running thru the airport to catch a plane. :) Bag also has a removable shoulder strap with heavy duty hardware, and another handle for hand carrying on top.
Bottom line is.... Tamrac was not fooling around when they designed this bag. Nothing was skimped on. It's very well thought out and very well made. I have absolutley no complains about this bag. It's perfect! Buy with confidence!

The main compartment features fully adjustable, foam-padded dividers and an accessory pocket inside the top lid. A weather-protected Speed Pocket on the front flap keeps filters, tickets and small accessories within easy reach for quick access, while large side pockets hold AC adapters, cables, cords and other bulky items. Tamrac 614 Super Pro 14 Camera Bag (Gray) Review

Tamrac 614 Super Pro 14 Camera Bag (Gray)
Average Reviews:

This is exactly what I wanted...a huge, rectangular bag with all the goodies. I wanted to be able to carry everything and have quick access to it all. Lots of pockets. My only complaint is that (and this applies to every camera bag I've ever bought) most of the pre-configured storage spaces seem to assume older skinny lenses not the fat ones I currently use. So, re-organizing the interior is a must.

Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Backpack Review

Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Backpack

I just returned form two weeks in Alaska and found the Lowepro Vertex 300 was what I expected from Lowepro. I found that it easily stored in the overhead bin and was easy to carry in the field. I carried a Nikon D100 and F100 both with the extended battery packs, a 170-500mm Sigma Telephoto, two additional lenses, an Epson P-3000, DX-80 Flash, various Cokin filters, extra batteries, chargers, flashlight, 20 rolls of film, manuals, tools, canned air and a Gitzo 2530 with no problem. So, as you can see I had just about everything but the kitchen sink! The ability to carry this by it's top strap made it easy to get around. The build quality is very good also. I will purchase Lowepro again!
