(More customer reviews)Let's face it, these bags are $$Expensive$$. So expensive that I lied to my wife about the exorbitant amount of money that I paid for it. However, it saved me money in the end. Because I was moving I needed to be 100 percent sure that I would see my computer on the other side. My mac was packed with two tons of books and furniture in a 5*6*8 box and my computer came out fine! So, if you have an extreme case like mine, do it! It is cheaper than paying for another mac!

(More customer reviews)Great design, suitable for air travel and most overhead storage. The rolling wheels are well balanced and roll smooth. The 'laptop' area is not very well padded and rather large - good for just bringing the laptop from point a to point b, though I wouldn't check the bag or store for long term with the laptop in there. Material seems to be durable, the extendable handle is sturdy and collapses smooth. Would definitely recommend.

After going through a few bags over the years, this is probably my most favorite. Though not a replacement for a backpack if you plan to hike - this is definitely great for keeping in your car, moving from job to job, traveling, and general storage.

Pelican 1510LOC Laptop Overnight Case - Notebook carrying case - black Review

(More customer reviews)My first experience with a Pelican case was a smaller version with pick and pluck foam that I use for a gun case. I liked it - a lot - so when it came time to get an 'occasional' case, this seemed to fit the ticket. I needed something that I could take onboard as a carry-on, but that I could also put in checked baggage if I needed to. Most rollaboards are light but flimsy and would suffer a horrible fate at the hands of typical luggage handlers. Not so with the Pelican case. This thing is seriously tough. The neoprene liner is well worth it with the double zips to keep all your personal effects nicely in place, and the utility bag and laptop bag fit perfectly in the lid. They're held in with velcro and when removed, can be stuck to each other, acting as a laptop pouch (but without its own handle).
The Pelican case's toughness is it's biggest plus point, but could also be a big minus if you're not strong. Fully packed with a laptop, power supply, cables and five days of clothes and a wash kit, this thing tips the scales at about 27lbs. That's well within the limit for checked luggage but if you pack it this full, you'll need some heft to get it into the overhead bins onboard.
Is it worth it? Absolutely. Sure it's hefty but that's because of its durability. In the last year, mine's been round the world with me (literally) twice, both onboard and in checked baggage. Whilst idly staring out the window, I actually saw my case fall off the loading conveyor at Dallas DFW a few months ago - probably an 8ft drop to the concrete. Sure it's scuffed but the hinges are in perfect condition, as are the clasps and seals. The handles show no sign of damage or potential detachment.
As one reviewer said, the interior space does seem smaller than you might expect, but pack smartly and it will be no problem.

(More customer reviews)I have had this case for close to a month at the time of this writing. I have gone on SEVERAL flights and a cruise to the Western Caribbean, and Central America. I LOVE this case. It's ability to become two separate cases has made this all too convenient. I travel with two gripped Canon bodies, at least 5 lenses (One being a 70-200L), flashes and light modifiers, batteries and chargers, filters, manuals, my laptop and it's charger, along with various other accompaniments. I even, remove the internal camera compartment, and place my shooter's vest in flat, and easily replace the compartment. This case is tough and very well built. It makes organizing your equipment extremely easy. What I really appreciate is that even though I've carried all I described, I still have room for more.
As you may be able to guess, with all I have to carry, this can get to be quite heavy. The rolling wheels make this a dream. I simply extend the handle and zip right along through airports with no problems. Removing the computer compartment and re-attaching it is fairly easy. Meaning, it's not exactly a one handed job, but it's not difficult and time consuming. It makes storing the pieces very easy. One piece for your small carry-on item and the other for your major carry-on.
I haven't quite had to break out the supplied waterproof cover, because the material the case is made of, has handled what little rain I've experienced with not an issue.
