Column Mount Notebook-Monitor Dual Arm w/SmartFit System Review

My wife wanted a larger monitor than the 17" laptop screen she was using. I found this at a decent price, bought it and a 24" monitor and now she is very pleased with the two screens for multitasking. She also like how it holds the laptop off the desk so she has room for a normal PC keyboard. When I get my laptop, I'll get one of these too.

I looked and looked at my local electronics stores comparing every lcd tv they had and when I saw this one it was a WOW moment. The picture on this is amazing to say the least. I have a buddy who is a die hard sony fan. He saw this and couldn't stop talking about it. Cons are video switching is slow... no hdmi.... and audio is bad..... but who cares about audio. If you are going to be spending the money that this costs I would bet that you have a surround sound system already.

HP W22 22" Wide LCD Monitor Review

HP W22 22 Wide LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

I've been looking at LCD monitors for some time but most of the previous 20" and larger LCD monitors just didn't look good. I compared the new Gateway 24" to this HP 22" and overall preferred the HP. The HP W22 is bright with excellent contrast. And as a bonus the integral speakers have a reasonably good sound. I don't run games so I cannot comment on how it would perform for those applications but so far for all other apps, it works great. We have a lot of high resolution pics of our kids and they also look great on this monitor.
HOWEVER - When buying an LCD monitor you must understand that these monitors only work well at certain screen resolutions. If you run them at other than their "native resolutions" (in the case of the HP W22 it is 1680x1050) the picture quality suffers greatly. I had to buy a new video card that would support the "native resolution" of this monitor but the end result is well worth it.

ViewSonic's VT3245 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black Review

I bought this for my parents for Christmas. Overall, I would say this is a quality product. The setup sequence worked well and in no time we were watching HD and non-HD material. This unit even made the non-HD material look better. Unfortunately, after a few days, the unit could not sense the input signal (RF) and displayed "no input signal". It would also not power off. Pull the AC (mains) plug, pop it back in, and it worked well. After a while, you had to pull and unplug twice before it would come back. Now it won't come back on at all. I brought it back to my home to try on my different cable system and it still wouldn't work.
Dealer said I could get a replacement, so I guess the EZ exchange policy is really what matters. I've had two Viewsonic computer monitors and the prior model of 32" LCD TV that have given me no problems.

I own this LG DLP 3D projecor since dec. 2010. I've liked overhall, but the low contrast ratio bothers me. Also some movies I can't make it do 16.9, the image look really big, some IMAX BD 3D will do that, also Alice in Wonder Land, Coraline, Shrek 1, Ice Age, but most BD will play right 16.9. I gave 4 stars due to the low contrast ratio, it would be much better if it was just above 10.000:1. I have a Sony projector vpl-aw10 with 6000:1 contrast ratio, and it is just great, the best projector I ever own. So I believe that if LG increased the contrast ratio, and make it 16.9 native, it would make a great 3D projector. I still recomend. Can't beat this price.

It's brand new so I hope it will do well in the long run but for now I would recommend it.

Average Reviews:

I love choices. But if you want to ship a 30" cinema display, as far as I could tell, this was it. And it is not inexpensive! But what an excellent case. The outer is tough, the hard inner shell is strong enough for a baggage handler to jig on and the interior holds the monitor snug and scratch free. I would like to of had closed pouches instead of open ended dividers to hold the cables. I wish it weighed less. It is right at 50 lbs when loaded. To close for airline scales. And it is slightly oversize. The airline allowed it but they could of hit me for big bucks.
It arrived after along international flight with transfers looking literally like new and the contents unscathed. Not bad!

This item is meant to be a Windows 7 tablet that is comparable to something like the iPad. In my case, I needed this for a project, and none of the competing vendors (like ViewSonic) have a release date yet, so I got this one (note I'm writing this in January 2011 - I suspect the tablet market will change significantly in the coming months).
First, it's extremely well-built. The back is metal and it has a solid feel. However, it's so "solid" that is somewhat heavy. It's almost too heavy to hold in one hand for too long a period (it weighs just about 2 lbs; and iPad weights 1.5 lbs). Maybe a plastic back would've helped? The back is smooth too, so it's little tough to hang on to with one hand too.
Also, it's a little odd there is no information about manufacturer, brand, or model. It's just a "tablet computer" that is made from China. The device, the box, the manual all make no reference to a company or brand. However, it does have a 3 year warrantee card that you are to "send to manufacturer", but there is absolutely no reference to any company name or address. So, I don't know how legitimate that is? If you can get past that though, this does seem to be a pretty high-quality device that works well, so unless there is a catastrophic problem, I assume I'll be OK anyhow.
The price is on the high-side, in my opinion. If I didn't see a price on this, I would've guessed it should be maybe $399. But with supply-and-demand, beggars can't be choosers - but I would've liked to see a lower price.
Next, battery-life isn't great. With the backlit turned down, you might get 3.5 hours of battery life. With the backlight turned all the way up (and it is REALLY bright), you might get closer to 1.5 to 2 hours of battery life. So this is around the same as "regular" laptop or larger netbook with a 6-cell battery.
Aside from those few small things, this is everything else it claims to be! It has built-in wireless and bluetooth, the rotating screen (it has a built-in gyroscope), the multi-touch features, etc all work as expected. It looks really nice, it has clean lines.
As far as speed, it has the feel of a higher-end netbook (this has a solid state drive and Atom processor, so it's physically similar too). All around though, if you are looking for an iPad-like Windows tablet, this is a pretty good alternative. It's heavier than an iPad, and not super-cheap, but until other alternatives come out, this was by-far the best option I found (and I looked), and it turned out to be a pretty nice device. I'd recommend it!

Viewsonic VP2290B-2 22.2" LCD Monitor Review

Viewsonic VP2290B-2 22.2 LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not quite sure where to begin with this review. I guess I should start by stating, right up front, that the VP2290B (and it's twin, the IBM T221) can NOT be used -- or even considered for use -- as a "general purpose" display for your computer. It's a *highly* specialized display that is really meant to be used to display one thing and one thing only -- STATIC images such as photographs, CAD/CAE drawings, and other *very* high resolution graphics.
You simply can NOT use this monitor as a primary Windows (or any other OS) display. You'll need a second "normal" display for that purpose running from a completely separate display adapter (I use a 24" LCD). The VP2290 can't be run from a standard graphics adapter -- even the latest and greatest like an nVidia 7900GTX/512 or an ATI X1900XTX. It needs MORE! You'll need either a Matrox Parhelia 256/PCI or a Quadro FX 4500 or above. To run it require BOTH DVI ports simultaneously via two "funky" non-standard DVI cables. Basically, the display "stitches" four "panels" together into one seamless display -- with staggering clarity.
With the VP2290 you can edit an image from the latest 8MP digital SLR at 100% and fit the ENTIRE image on the display. GULP! The brightness/contrast specs may not inspire awe, but believe me when I say that they are quite misleading. My 24" LCD has double the stated B/C specs but the VP still looks brighter and holds more shadow detail.
You can't play video or prettymuch ANYTHING with motion (forget gaming) because the "refresh" is only 50Hz. Even web Flash animations blur and ghost -- but if you're into Photoshop and have a high-MP camera then this is, in no uncertain terms, THE Big, Bad Wolf.
Forget about text. Sure it redefines "razor sharp," but you'll need an electron microscope to see any of it. Resolution-wise it absolutely DWARFS the current 30" mega-displays on the market with DOUBLE the gross pixel count -- in a considerably smaller area. You do the math. Ideally I'd like to have a 30" for my general-purpose display and the VP2290 as my graphic editor (don't put ANYTHING other than the image on it. Menus will disappear into postage-stamp sized boxes on the VP). Some dreams are just meant to come true.
To sum up, the VP2290 has a very narrow performance envelope. If you are a graphics editor of one sort or another -- STATIC graphics -- then the VP is the apex predator of the display universe. Nothing else can even come close. It makes a 30" display look like it has glowing tennis balls for pixels. The resolution is SO high that it is simply impossible to see any pixels with the naked eye. It looks like you're seeing a continuous tone image even with your face plastered to the screen. Color reproduction is flawless, and I don't use that word lightly. The unit itself is big, thick, and bulky for an LCD, but it's still no CRT.
I'd LOVE to see this resolution in a fast 40" made-for-PC display for $3,000 or less. They couldn't manufacture enough of them.

Both the price and the product are great! The product works well. I owned a projector about 7-8 years ago. It was very expensive back then (Infocus brand) and I always thought it had a great picture in our dark basement setting... but the output was not bright enough to work in a semi-lit room during the day. When the bulb finally burnt out and I realized how expensive they were to replace, I got rid of it and bought a 42" Sony rear-projection TV. I have been happy with the Sony for the last 7 years or so but just moved from a large house into a smaller apartment and was looking for a way to free up all the space that this rather large TV took up (not to mention it is almost impossible to move because it is so big and heavy). I was looking into the newest technology of LCD, Plasma, and even LED TVs and the prices are pretty crazy for the size you get. I remembered how cool it was to have a projector and I thought to myself that would be great to save space and get a HUGE screen. I looked into them and I knew from my prior ownership that anything over 2000 lumens was typically considered to be bright enough to use in a semi-dark room. Most of the projectors advertised and sold as "Home Theater Projectors" are just as expensive as the TVs and I understand that they have native resolutions of 1280x800 or higher and some I have seen as high as 5500 lumens.... but I think a lot of it is hype. How black can the blacks in the video get? Why do you need a 60,000 to 1 contrast ratio? If you are not going to project the image 100 feet or more, why do you need that many lumens? I took a chance on this projector because I found it brand new on ebay for less than four hundred dollars and thought what the heck. At 2800 lumens it is plenty bright (even in daylight) to be seen clearly. The picture looks razor sharp and all my friends that spent thousands on big screen TVs are all jealous and say it looks better than their TVs. For 1/8 or less the cost, I have a 75" screen that is 1080i and 720p compatible. It is awesome for movies or ball games. Everyone always wants to have the superbowl party at my place.
Compared to my old Infocus projector, I can see technology has come a long way. This Optoma projector is very compact, lightweight, and quiet. It does put out a fair amount of heat (exhaust fan) but other than that I have absolutely no complaints, nor do I see a reason to spend thousands more on a big screen TV or "Home Theater" projector. In fact, this projector is actually TOO bright for the 10' that I am projecting the picture so I turned it down to "eco-mode" which dims it a bit and saves another 1,000 hours on the bulb. For the money, I think you would be very pressed to find a better quality projector with higher lumens and resolution for anywhere close to the same cost. The replacement cost of the bulbs are under $200 each so I can rest assured that this projector will last me the rest of my happy life, and even if it wasn't affordable to replace the bulb. At 350 dollars, I think 240,000 minutes of watching this screen is well worth the money I paid for it. That is 8 cents per hour.
Bottom line: Incredible Hi-Def picture, compact space-saving design, bright enough for daytime viewing, and very cost affordable. If you are considering this projector compared to some similar models, you have my recommendation to go with this one. I checked out Dell, NEC, Hitachi, Epson, and Infocus and nothing in this price range compared. 2800 lumens and 3000:1 contrast ratio is pretty impressive. Deep, rich dark colors... True blacks... and bright whites. I think you will be as happy as I am.I will post some pictures as soon as I get my screen installed. Right now I am just projecting on a (brown) wall. I can't even imagine how good the picture is going to be on a real screen!
