Linkskey LDV-DM702AUSK KVM Switch Review

I am running dual DVI monitors with a desktop PC and a Mac Pro. This KVM switch offers just about everything I could have hoped for in a high end device. Dual monitor support is, of course, the key attraction but also the fact that it handles DVI monitors exclusively is excellent. Scroll Lock (twice--key is configurable) plus backspace cycles between the machines and is easier than having to push a number to select the system. With a 4-port KVM (also available by Linkskey), numbers would be more important. I am also very pleased with the other keyboard shortcuts that allow the sound or USB ports to be locked to a specific computer. I am able to attach my scanner and other special devices through the USB ports and with a few keyboard strikes, I can use the scanner on either my Windows or Mac machine. I also greatly utilize and appreciate the audio switching which again, can be locked to a specific machine.
One feature I feel is missing is the ability to switch one monitor but not the other. Then, a person could have a reference piece on monitor #1 from computer #1 but be working on monitor #2 from computer #2. After emailing the company asking if it was possible, they said that such an ability is available in a video matrix and not a KVM switch. However, this is a minor shortcoming.
The device is sturdy and solid. I have added small rubberized adhesive pads to the side of the unit because my setup prefers it to be sideways standing upright. The unit includes a power adapter but it is not required. I have had no problems with the unit and am insanely pleased with its abilities and reliability. The moment I decided to add a Mac Pro to my setup I knew I would have to spend some time finding the perfect KVM. I did not want to give up dual monitors nor ignore my audio abilities either. USB handling has been an unexpected improvement that is very helpful. The single greatest ability is the list of keyboard shortcuts available to switch things around. It helps to memorize these quickly.

This is my third Aten KVM, and they've all been good. This one is the best so far. No problems with keyboard and mouse emulation (some KVM's cause boot hang-ups because they don't emulate well), the hotkey swapping is blazing fast, unit is heavy and well-built (lighter units tend to do a "wheelie" because of the weight of the cables coming off the back of them.
My only complaint is lack of response to my request to Aten to sell me a longer cable set - the short ones that come with the unit won't work for many users. There's a couple of longer sets on the Aten website, but requests to purchase those part numbers are being ignored...

The CubiQ CS1644 DVI Dual View KVMP Switch adds a new dimension to DVI KVMs by incorporating dual monitor support and an LED Status panel for a clear, simple method to select and monitor the advanced switching features of the KVM. Now you can extend your desktop across two 2560x1600 Dual link monitors, making it ideal for graphic designers, banking and finance consultants, medical applications, and gaming. The CS1644\'s independent (asynchronous) switching feature allows the KVM, USB ports, and audio to focus on different ports simultaneously. In order to simplify source identification, and manual port selection, the Status Panel has been expanded by the addition of LCDs that illuminate, to clearly indicate the feature selected, and the port to which it is connected. Other major features of the CubiQ include Video DynaSync, which ensures proper resolution and refresh rate when booting or switching computers. Mouse emulation maybe disabled to allow full functionality for programmable mice, and USB 2.0 peripheral sharing ports to share printers, and other external devices. The CS1644 supports digital video I.E. flat panel displays, data projectors, plasma displays, digital TVs and set-top boxes. Switching is accomplished by one of two methods: Hotkeys (you don\'t have to take your fingers off the keyboard), or front panel push buttons. Easy install and set up, simply connect the CS1644 between your computers, monitor, mouse and keyboard. Connect your microphone, speakers, and peripheral devices. No software to install, no configuration routines. Since the keyboard communicates directly with the KVM it will work with multiple computing platforms (PC (x86/x64), Macintosh PowerPC, and Sun Microsystems (Sparc)

I tried using the Belkin Flip for six months because I couldn't find a competitive product. The flip provides poor video and very long transition times between computers. This unit by Aten is much superior, with support for 30" monitors (2560x1600), instant switching, and the unique capability to switch with or without USB attached. So if you have your printers and external hard drives on a USB extender box, just plug that into the Aten switch and presto! Each time you switch to another computer, that computer benefits from the entire set of devices. You can also revoke this by hitting "k" during your scroll-lock jumps, and leave the USB on one computer only. The Aten also supports full audio, has some useful front connectors (including an extra USB), and is solid and reliable. I recommend it highly.

ATEN's CS1782 Dual Link DVI KVMP switch sets a new standard in KVMP functionality by adding three major innovations. Display technology reads and remembers your monitor's optimal display settings (E-DDC), thereby eliminating display problems when simultaneously booting or switching between computers. With support for resolutions up to 3840 x 2400 you can enjoy the full capabilities of your wide screen monitor. 7.1 sound support provides a fully immersed audio experience for listening pleasure, gaming, or audio editing. In keeping with the proliferation of high speed devices, the CS1782 provides two USB 2.0 peripheral ports for sharing USB devices between your computers. A powered USB hub may be attached for added expansion. Switching computers is merely a matter of pressing a manual button, or by a few Hotkey strokes entered directly from the keyboard. The hotkeys allow for independently switching audio, KVM focus, and peripherals. Setup is as easy as disconnecting your existing cables and connecting the CS1782. There is no software to install, and it is compatible with virtually all USB compliant operating systems. Save money time and space, share one monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker system, and set of peripherals between two computers. No more using the "wrong" keyboard or mouse, no more moving cables between computers, not to mention the number of speakers involved. The CS1782 comes complete with all cables including 7.1 audio, it supports Apple 20", 23" and 30" Cinema Displays, Apple special function keys, and has an unprecedented 7 year limited warranty. NOTE : The KVM will support both DVI-I and DVI-D, however the supplied video cables are DVI-D they will not work with VGA to DVI adapters, third party DVI-I cables or a VGA to DVI converter must be used. 2-PORT Dual Dvi USB KVM Switch Review

2-PORT Dual Dvi USB KVM Switch
Average Reviews:

This unit is well constructed but lacking in features compared to some competitors such as IO Gear. Most annoying was a problem I experienced with the [Alt]-[Tab] key combination sending a stream of [Tab] keys to the computer which would only stop when you hit [Escape]. It also would intermittently repeat the last one or two characters typed for no apparent reason. I tried two different USB keyboards (SAITEK and HP) and experienced the same problem. I contacted Startech's tech support via email and they directed me to a link to download a BIOS patch. Presumably future version of the product will come with a new bios that will already fix the problem.
Aside from that annoyance it's a good product but compared to an IO Gear DVI unit I have used (but doesn't support two DVI monitors with two computers) it is lacking in some features, for example the IO Gear has a front panel button/hot key combination for viewing the video from one computer while still listening to the audio from the other.
One warning the "Starview 2 Port Dual DVI USB KVM Switch" does not include the cables you will need to hook up the computers so order those separately. I had ordered the 10 foot cables but the video image was badly degraded using that length so I ended up using the 6 foot IO Gear cables and it worked fine.
That said, when I was searching for a KVM to work with two computers with two DVI monitors there weren't a lot of choices. This product is competent and well built. Assuming the BIOS problem has been fixed I would recommend this product.

I've used a fair number of other KVMs and had largely given up on ever having the convenience of using one ever again. Some coworkers had shown me an older set of these that worked really well with DVI switching. I really like this KVM. It works exactly the way you would expect, and in my case it took zero configuration.
Currently I switch four computers with this system: Windows 7 with a Geforce GTX 285, a Hackingtosh with an Nividia 9xxx series, a Linux box, and a mac laptop. It works flawlessly for all of them. You really can't say this with any other KVM setup.
Good job IOGear!

I have two of these now and they have been working great. This kit includes all the cables. When I added the second switch I lost one of the ports since I connected them together. The only problems I have encountered is when I restart some of my older PowerPC Macs the screen will not show. I have to then disconnect it and use a spare monitor to adjust the video resolution down for it to work again with the switch. This is very annoying, but has only happened with the two older Macs. Also, the blue power LED is very bright.

Miniview Ultra+ with USB cables. OGEARs new eight-port Miniview Ultra+KVM switch is the ideal tool to help reduce redundant hardware. Eight monitors, mice and keyboards are simply too expensive, bulky and inconvenient for most system administrators. Why bother when you can control all eight, or even up to 512 computers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. The added audio support allows you to enjoy music while working. Just think of the time, space and money youll save, and added fun. The New Miniview Ultra+is much more than a simple eight-port KVM switch. The dual interface support allows you to connect both PS/2 and USB computers on the same switch. The multi-platform support allows you to control Windowsbased computers, Sun Solarissystems, Linux, or even Macs by a single KVM switch. IOGEAR extended the multi-platform support by supporting the special keys on both Sun and Mac keyboards. This KVM switch also comes with the IOGEAR VSE technology, which provides excellent video resolution - up to 2048 x 1536. Built-in AutoScan mode lets you conveniently monitor every attached computer for a specified amount of time, while our On Screen Display (OSD) technology allows you to assign a unique name to each computer and access it via a smooth menu-driven interface. With its 1U, 19" rack-mountable casing and status-monitoring LEDs, the Miniview Ultra+is the perfect switch for your server room or any other multi-computer environment.
