(More customer reviews)I have used an HP2408 24" monitor since Nov 2007 and I love it except for the pronounced color shift with vertical viewing angle. In comparison, the ZR24w produces uniform color from top to bottom. However, I have not attempted a color calibration, so I cannot comment on the trueness of the color.
The ZR24w I rec'd has [updated] 1 stuck-on pixel (0.2" from bottom in area of Windows taskbar) but no other defects that I have noticed. In addition to having a different panel type (ZR24w has H2-IPS), the ZR24w has a non-reflective, matte screen, unlike the specular screen of the 2408. That mirror screen has never been a problem for me since I work in a room with low lights, and a specular screen cannot be beat for sharpness. The backlight is good; I'm using a 15% brightness setting. The control buttons, including power and an LED power indicator, are in the lower right corner. The LED is bright blue when operating but is tiny, so that placement will not be a problem for me. The heavy stand is simple in construction compared to that of the 2408 but offers equal adjustments (height/tilt/rotate), and no assembly is req'd other than to slide the monitor onto the stand and click the locking lever into place. HP included a cable for each interface (DVI, VGA, DisplayPort), a USB cable to connect to the 4-port (2 on left side, 2 behind/under) built-in USB hub, and a detachable power cord. It's only been "on" a few hours now, but it seems to work perfectly.
