(More customer reviews)So not screaming fast or spectacular screen etc. but this notebook has everything that I wanted: 720p screen, plays hd videos, decent 3d performance (for Blender 3D, not sure about gaming) AND the display is a matte finish, NOT glossy which is a huge deal to me. I use this notebook mostly for sales presentations and there's nothing worse than trying to show my work with a glossy screen and a window behind my client...glossy screens seem almost worthless to me, honestly. Shiny is nice looking but it actually means you're reflecting the room not seeing the screen...hard on the eyes for long periods of time and why TVs always have anti-glare coatings.
Odd that it comes with XP (business thing I guess) but just ran the windows 7 install and all is good. Best part is I only installed the drivers/utils that I wanted to install (disc menu makes it easy to pick/choose) so I've got a very bloatware-free and fast install of windows 7.
Oh, the touchpad is a weak point. It's easy to find your thumbs moving the mouse cursor on the pad while you try to type. Also, the buttons are not easy to press. However, there's lots of ways to deal with this. The best is to plug in a mouse (like the logitech m305) and set the pad to disable. As far as the buttons go, you can tap anywhere of course for the left button and enable the double-tap to drag option to make dragging easier. Right-mouse clicks are rare enough that it doesn't matter too much. The pad also supports gestures (drag anywhere with two fingers to scroll, for example). So not a great touchpad, but not a dealbreaker imo.
The other week point is the screen angle. Similar to my last HP business notebook, the vertical angle is very limited. Not a big deal though and left/right is better.
No major complaints for sure. Great deal for the money. Very slick looking business notebook with a matte finish (yay!) screen.
