(More customer reviews)My previous card was the XLR8 Nvidia 9800 GT 1024mb ddr3. it would play crysis on very high spec with no anti-aliasing about 15-20 fps on my 40" tv. I can now play it on very high spec with 8x anti aliasing and maintain 30-40 fps. However, if you start a game without AAx8 on then switch it on, it will drop fps to about 10-15 for about a minute while it catches up, it's best to just start with AA already on. if you have a monitor that shows resolutions up to 1600p i couldn't tell you if this card can hit those resolutions with the same performance, but 1080p works like a charm. it comes with the ati catalist program that allows you to overclock it. all this performace is without overclocking.
WARNING: it does take two slots on the back of your computer. it only takes one pci express slot, but the card is so thick that it has 2 metal brackets instead of just one, where you connect your monitors. also it is 11 inches long. make sure it will fit before buying. current build:

(More customer reviews)First things first: This is the XFX Alpha Dog edition. The PVT it gives says it is the stock XFX but the one I got in the mail was the Alpha Dog.
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 computer with the Q6600 and the 8600GT graphics. I bought this as an "upgrade." First things first, I had to upgrade my power supply from the stock 350watts to a 500watt PSU. This graphics card has a power supply plug on the end of it. The card is INCREDIBLY LONG ... So much so you better make sure you have space for it if you have a small box. For the Dell Inspiron 530 - had to take out a hard drive to get it in the case.
Now for the actual review. I'm an Eve-Online player. I went from 170FPS (8600GT) to 410 FPS (8800GT) in station with Eve Classic. I went from low 50 FPS (8600GT) to 210 FPS (8800GT) with Eve Premium. Yeah, there is a HUGE difference... The graphics are so much better than the 8600GT as well.
The downsides (reason for 4 stars): This card runs INCREDIBLY hot - so hot I can't even touch it for a second. The card is upside down in my case so it blows hot air to the bottom and just recirculates it. I had to install a case fan and leave a PCI slot open to blow the hot air out. I HAVE NOT had the card freeze but if you don't have good case ventilation that might be an issue for you.

Because on a top end machine the following games have settings that go way past the limitations of even this card - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, Doom 3, FarCry and the soon to be released Half-Life 2. These are all new engines that will drive the games of tomorrow, meaning that I will probably be trading this one in for Xmas 2005 when the 512 line should make its mark. Anyway how does this card pan out?
First of all it is a nightmare if you setup your card on a television and then forget to change it back for use with a monitor. So learn a lesson well about these monitor/television compatible cards. Make sure to change the Display Properties to whichever type you are using next because if you don't then you will not see anything and thus can not change it back. Next you need to know that these cards are top of line and make quite a great deal of noise. We are talking about listening to something like a 50cfm fan in your box doing the rounds. You are probably going to want to run your box cooler with these types of high-end chipsets running to get the most out of them so go searching on the net for a good environmental setup.
All these new series of graphics card come with DirectX 9.0c or higher but the real key to unlock this God is with the new ATI range of drivers that enhance and accelerate the visual experience - CATALYST(tm) (Basically complete Real-time 3D immersive game play*). The four games for this card I have already mentioned (Playing it with Counter-Strike: Source is extremely good although I believe maybe a 128mb would give virtually the same playability for now). So if you want those games then consider this card.
FarCry has an exceptional environment with something like X100 zoom on your binoculars. The enemy AI is unreal but in terms of graphics it is a real ride with this card. I believe you need this card for the full FarCry experience; however I do not believe that it pushes this card to its limit.
MS Flight Simulator 2004 does push this card past it limits. Put everything up full in the details panel and look out the window over populated areas. You will see a delay and suddenly several sectors start to pop up. A 512mb card will make that game real-time.
Doom3 has the ability to actually configure to a 512mb card if one existed now. Doom3 is an experience and a half, not 100% but unlike anything you have seen before and pretty scary to say the least. Anyway with this card the demon disintegration graphics are akin to watching someone getting beamed up in front of you. The lighting dynamics are also crucial to the game play. Get Doom 3 and this card and you will be stunned by something that looks like an XBOX 2 or PS3.
Half-Life 2 really needs this... if you buy the new Bronze edition from Steam you can DL the encrypted HL2 files onto your HD along with CS: Source and Play Source right away which is a big improvement on any version of CS you have seen. Anyway it looks top spec on this card but I believe a 128mb card can play Source at it highest settings. Anyway the point is to look for the HL2 video and know that in reality HL2 is going to cost you $300 if you want the full experience.
It's a tough cookie but let's face it. You have no choice. Now go work or Beg for it. We all did it!
*As for using unsupported ATI drivers for this card. Well even Catalyst is unsupported (Use at your own risk from ATI sort of thing) so hammering around with this card is probably not a bad idea however it is always useful to do that after the card has passed its warranty but the choice is there is you want it. Personally I would stick to the ATI releases and get some good tutorials on your computer environment
5 Stars but an XBOX is almost the same price.
***2008 update***
I got three and a half years out of this card. I will add the following notes about it.
- I burned out the fan for it in 2005 but it still ran for 3 more years before finally packing in. It blew the PSU a few times (twice) and this probably added more damaged to the video card. Originally the specified PSU was not enough. The video card had been damaged but still worked. Instead of replacing the card I got a better PSU with 600W and a new Zalman heatsink to keep the system cool for the card to run for a few more years. In Jan 2008 it essentially packed in. I will be trying Nvidia GeForce next for the experience, but I still replaced this one with another ATI Radeon 9550.
It was a five star experience but not a five star card. This should have been a three star card because of the problems I had with it.

I'm running two GTS 250 cards with SLI and this power supply exceeds what I need. My favorite feature is that there are less cables required for the unit.
The basic cables, like the ones that plug on the motherboard are traditionally installed on the unit. However, power cables that are used for the hard drives
and other internal components are plugged into the unit separately. So, you only need to plug in power cables that you need instead of having all these

The 3DSMAX and Maya benchmarks speak for themselves. Furthermore, game performance is excellent. This would be the ideal card for all game developers save for the following caveat.
The bad:
1. There is no professional 30" screen supporting both HDCP and display port.
2. All display port -> dual link DVI adapters are highly problematic at best and totally nonfunctional at worst (for example, the Apple display port -> dual link DVI adapter is notorious garbage that has never worked one instant for anybody and never will; the only halfway functional one garbles DPMS, preventing operation at 2560x1600 after entering full screen DirectX modes in Windows).
3. Console game development requires a screen supporting HDCP.
4. The only 30" screen supporting both HDCP and display port is the Dell 3008WFP. This is a consumer screen that suffers from all sorts of brain damage (no powersave control, long resync times, questionable quality).
For heaven's sake, ATI, going with display port only on a professional card is a mistake.
DO NOT BUY THIS CARD IF YOUR DISPLAY REQUIRES DUAL LINK DVI.

XFX HD 6950 800M 1 GB DDR5 PCI-E Video Card HD695XZNFC Review

First my only negative would be that this card seems to run a little hot, 43 C at idle in the 70 C range when gaming and over 80 C when running a stress test. From what I have read this is cool however comparted to some of the HD 6950 2GB refernce cards and yet this can be addressed if you like me like to keep you're hardware cool. Youc an do so by upgrading your case like I did and by using software like MSI Afterburner to adjust the fan which I also did, the only downside is that it becomes a bit loud in my opinion. Keep in mind I say this as someone who has never owned a top model graphics card like an AMD 69xx or an Nvidia x80 before, so heat and loud fans my be the norm, as I have nothing to compare it against. For instance my previous two cards were a Radeon HD 5770 I got last year and an NVIDIA 8600 GT I bought in 2008.
With all that aside for the moeny after the rebate this card is an unbeatable value and an out of this world performer. I can play EVERY game I have on the highest setting with AA at 1920x1080 and get well over 30 FPS on everything, most running over 60 FPS.
Some bencharking results I got with 3D MARK VANTAGE and 3D MARK 11 are as follows,

Update 3/21/2011.
Today I installed and ran the Unigine Hevan Benchmark and the results were as follows:
32.6 FPS with all high settings, normal tesselation and 8x AA.
46.1 FPS with all high settings, normal tesselation and no AA.
These are great results for a very demmanding benchmark which gave the Ati 5xxx line a hard time due to their poor tesseliation performance and as you can see the AMD 6xxx line in particular, my HD 6950 live up to AMD's claim to have made mjor improvements to the tesselation peromance of their new cards.
Whatever you buy XFX makes great products and their customer support is top notch and legendary among the community of computer gamers so you can not go wrong with this card at less than [...]

ATI FirePro 2450 Multi-View 512 MB PCI-Express Video Card Review

(More customer reviews)I run a quad monitor setup, typically off a Dell box. Historically I was using a GX280 box, and recently upgraded to an Inspiron 546 running Windows 7 Professional.
I am always looking for the cheapest solution, so historically ran twin video cards, each with dual monitor capability. On the GX280 (which was running Windows XP), this was never a problem. I ran one ATI and one NVIDIA card (ATI in PCI-E slot, NVIDIA in PCI slot) and they operated flawlessly. However, when I tried to duplicate this setup on the Windows 7 box I ran into huge hardware conflict issues. Part of the problem, I think, is that as graphics performance has improved rapidly running a 2nd video card through a standard PCI slot has become a real bottleneck. The graphics processing demanded by Vista and 7 is simply too intense to be handled through old-school PCI, it really needs PCI-Express.
So, with a heavy heart, I had to suck it up and begin looking for a quad-monitor capable PCI-E card. There aren't a lot of them out there, and most of them that are available are absolutely massive power hogs, requiring systems with 400+ watt power supplies (i.e. see Sapphire cards, awesome capabilities for about $250 but need huge power).
For me, it came down to a choice between this ATI Firepro card and a competing NVIDIA card. The ATI was slightly cheaper, and the NVIDIA had a slight performance edge. The first thing you will find is that it is virtually impossible to find raw benchmark performance data for this Firepro 2450. ATI has not made it available. The bad news is that the card is not even close to bleeding edge. It only generated a 3.1 Windows Experience Index score on my computer for "Graphics" (i.e. Windows Aero desktop performance). This is a pretty low score; the 3-year old ATI card in my laptop, for instance, generated a 3.6 on this index. However, if you're not a gamer or running 3D apps on your PC the performance should be more than sufficient. I use my PC for work (financial services), so run a combination of trading applications, standard video, etc., and have never had any performance issues with the card. It runs plenty quick for my needs.
Other pluses. Power usage is very, very low. Reliability is rock solid. ATI typically updates its driver and software packages once a month so bugs are caught and fixed quickly. Another plus, you can run your quad outputs to either VGA or DVI. My old dual-card setup always forced me to use VGA outputs, and although VGA is a lot better than it used to be, I will say hands down that moving to DVI has been a huge plus. It can't be beat.
A couple of negatives. The Catalyst Manager software package is OK, but not great. Several of the "functions" that the ATI website says exist actually are not available (for instance, setting up a hotkey to snap applications to a given monitor). Also, I discovered a bug where the software doesn't interface well with a few Microsoft Office 2007 applications. I have spoken with tech support, they are now aware of these bugs, and are working to implement a fix on a future release. This brings up my final point. One of the benefits of buying a $400 video card is that you get very, very good tech support (much better than ATI provides on their "consumer" cards). The tech support team is responsive, and is always there to help.

XFX HD-695A-CNFC AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB Graphics Card Review

(More customer reviews)I was using a Nvidia GTX 580 and swapped it out for a couple of these in crossfire.
I got these when I found out about the flash trick to unlock the shaders. A google search should get you the info you need to easily do this. I would also suggest checking forums to see the current state of doing this in case AMD revises cards to eliminate this trick before buying.
I game on a 30" running at 2560x1600 and these cards just let me play through Dead Space 2 maxed smooth as butter. I also recently played through Fear and Fear 2 maxed without a problem. Overall I am very happy with the performance in crossfire and the 2GB of memory helps especially at higher resolutions.
I do have a couple of complaints though. The shrouds on these cards do not allow the top card to get enough air on a lot of motherboards. Since they are boxy with no curves there is only a small gap between the cards. This causes the top card to be much warmer than the other card. If the shroud had a slant like Nvidia cards it wouldn't be as much of a problem. My other complaint is that there are many driver problems around if you check the forums. Nvidia has its problems too but lately AMD's driver team seems to be out to lunch or something.
Overall I would recommend this card due to the value and performance presented but do some research be aware of the current state of things before purchasing.

(More customer reviews)First of all i would like to start out by saying that i have only owned this video card less then two weeks. I was trying to decide between which brand to go with, xfx, msi, asus, sapphire, so i decided to settle on this one, mainly because xfx offers lifetime warranty, so i thought this is the best choice. The box contents is just the card, manual, drivers, and those cards you hang on the knob of your door. No vga to dvi or hdmi converters, nothing of that sort in case needed, which at the time i needed.. Installed the card, and everything worked smoothly, have been playing couple of games, on decent resolution and mostly high graphics. Bad company 2, CS, DOD 2, HL2, Bioshock, Left 4 Dead, Crysis, Dirt 2 ect.. and never hand any significant lags. I was able to overclock the card decently with MSI Afterburner, without raising the voltage. The temperatures are decent, and it does go up to 70 Celsius and around there, when gaming. Overall i feel that this is a very good ati card made by xfx, i have not had any problems or difficulties with the video card, i hope this helps those individuals considering to buy this card.
