(More customer reviews)I bough this video card as a replacement to the Xfx hd 4890, and I say it was a good choice as FPS increased drastically and temperature decreased a little as well, iddle desktop temps are about 32-36 ºC and playing 50ºC, It can handle 1080p smoothly.

The 3DSMAX and Maya benchmarks speak for themselves. Furthermore, game performance is excellent. This would be the ideal card for all game developers save for the following caveat.
The bad:
1. There is no professional 30" screen supporting both HDCP and display port.
2. All display port -> dual link DVI adapters are highly problematic at best and totally nonfunctional at worst (for example, the Apple display port -> dual link DVI adapter is notorious garbage that has never worked one instant for anybody and never will; the only halfway functional one garbles DPMS, preventing operation at 2560x1600 after entering full screen DirectX modes in Windows).
3. Console game development requires a screen supporting HDCP.
4. The only 30" screen supporting both HDCP and display port is the Dell 3008WFP. This is a consumer screen that suffers from all sorts of brain damage (no powersave control, long resync times, questionable quality).
For heaven's sake, ATI, going with display port only on a professional card is a mistake.
DO NOT BUY THIS CARD IF YOUR DISPLAY REQUIRES DUAL LINK DVI.

(More customer reviews)My Windows 7 performance rating went from a 4.2 to a 7.3 (the grpahics part was 7.6 out of 7.9). I was shocked. Games like CIv5 and mass effect 2 played flawlesly with all the video graphic setting on max. I am only using a AMD Quad processor for the cpu.

(More customer reviews)This is a great graphics card for business applications, running a pair of 24" monitors at 1920x1200. It is stable, fanless, and runs cool, unlike most fanless graphics cards that will support the latest high rez monitors.
After upgrading from Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64, I couldn't watch videos on the computer. I tried to upgrade from the old driver that worked in Vista to the latest driver that supports Windows 7 x64 following directions on the Matrox support website, but the self-installing driver package in an exe file wouldn't run.
I contacted Matrox tech support and was advised that when I ran the Windows 7 upgrade disk, my old driver was "locked in", but since it's not a Windows 7 driver, Windows 7 couldn't recognize it to uninstall. They said the only solution was to do a clean install of Windows 7. They said that I should have uninstalled the old driver before upgrading to Windows 7.
In fact, the advice I received from Matrox was incompetent. You only need to unpack the exe file provided by Matrox and install the Windows 7 driver inf file through Device Manager. Then run Device Manager again to install the entire package. There is no need to do a clean install, as claimed by Matrox. Still, it would have been easier to update the driver before upgrading to Windows 7.
