Never really concentrated to much on the sony products because of the prices of them. For the money, you can get a larger sized samsung like a 32", or for the same size TV you can save big bucks by going with a westinghouse or other bargain priced TV's sized at 26" which is ideal for a bedroom. After purchasing a 26" westinghouse and not being extremely happy I bought a 32" Vizio. Still not satisfied, I left the bargain TV basement and took the plunge and bought this TV. Wow, what a difference. At $300-$400 dollars more than the westy, I'm not sure if it's that much better if tied to a budget, but if you've got it (cash), get it (sony). As far as specs go, read the description, but rest assured this TV is really nice. Sound is better than expected for a 26", menus are nice, picture is B.A. On XBOX 360, the best and most graphically demanding game is by far Gears of War. This TV makes it look incredible. The darks are dark enough in the spooky parts unlike other TVs I've tried out which looked washed out and lame. This set really makes the whole thing look alot better. I have been switching between the 3 presets (vivid, cinema, standard) and haven't made any tweaks yet exept for turning on the dynamic lighting. I'm sure you could make the picture even better with some adjustments but it's unnecessary.

This is my first LCD tv. I spent a lot of time looking at them in stores, reading reviews & finally decided that Samsung would provide me the best value for my money. I purchased this 26" for my bedroom & it's the perfect size. I was a little nervous setting it up but it was so simple. From attaching the stand, hooking it up & setting up the menu options. The picture is amazing! The colors are wonderful, the blacks are not washed out at all but appear rich & dark. There are a number of setting options to achieve the perfect picture for you, including adjusting the backlight. The sound is good, for a bedroom tv I'm not looking for a movie theater experience & quite frankly, I wouldn't expect tv speakers to ever give me that. I would expect to buy separate speakers. The sound is just as good, if not better, then any past tv I have owned. I have a computer desk off to the side & often glance over at the tv and can view the screen just fine from side angles. There's also a sleep timer for turning both off & on. I've watched everything from movies to sports to regular shows. Also, for anyone nervous about getting this tv without HD, it's looks incredible even without the HD! There are tons of connections on this model too, including 3 HDMI (2 in the back & one on the side). There is a PC connection too but I haven't tried that or the game mode. I can't find a single negative thing to say & as a plus, the tv itself has a very classy sharp appearance. Very, very happy!

We replaced an 18 year old 27" CRT set with this one and it's a beauty. I am a TV news cameraman with thirty years in the business so I look at a lot of high end monitors at work.
When I went to the store I didn't expect to get a great set in this size and frankly 720P didn't excite me much either.
After looking at top tier sets from Sony, LG, Samsung, Toshiba and Mitsubishi I ended up on the Panasonic.
I was shocked at how good all the upper tier sets looked but the Panasonic seemed to have a little better detail down in the blacks and seemed to track highly detailed scenes with less digital noise than the others, but it was close accross the board.
The off air ATSC tuner is excellent and the set has all the inputs you could reasonably need. I do not intend to plug in an iPod so that wasn't a factor in my choice.
My DVD player is older and does not pass audio through the HDMI output so I connected it to the set via the component outs and I feel no need at all to upgrade to a BlueRay player. At this size this is a wonderful combination.
My general feeling is that if you watch a lot of HDTV that is live or tape such as sports then Panasonic flat screens just seem to pull a little more quality out of the signal. For movies it is more of a level playing field.
This is pretty subjective but it's how I see it.
It's amazing how far your money goes in this stuff anymore.

I got this item on a Gold Box special, so I ordered quickly with no reviews posted. Then I saw a lot of negative comments in the Gold Box section, especially regarding the sound quality. I have had the TV for less than 24 hours so I am not going to be able to provide an in-depth review, but I will say my fears were unfounded. For $389, no shipping charges, I could not have done better. The sound is fine. The picture is beautiful. The TV is attractive and not heavy. The remote is difficult to program and we are still working on that. We are not yet able to get all of the info on shows we got from our original Dish remote, but we are down to one remote rather than the two we had previously.
Several others asked about computer usage, and I have not tried to do this although it looks like it is equipped for this use. I don't have any reason to believe that picture-in-picture capacity exists, but who knows?
My point in the quick posting is that there is a lot of negative reaction to this product, and I wanted to report a positive experience. The most common comment was that the sound got garbled after a few hours use, and this has not occurred in its first day of performance. My old set had lousy sound, so this is a major improvement.
Good luck! And, by the way, I ordered it on Fri morning and received it Sat night...on Super Saver Shipping...bravo!

I just bought this model, and I also own a Sony 40" S model. I was tempted to get Sony's S model in this size, but the M is a newer model, and $50-$80 cheaper. Picture quality is, overall, equal to my larger set, (though fleshtones are more natural on the "S") which cost twice as much. However, I was surprised that it does not come with the stand attached. Not a big deal, but I've never seen this practice before. Also, unlike the S series classy flat black matte finish, this M model has the "Samsungy" glossy piano black finish. Again, not a big deal..but still. Anyway, despite all my nitpicking, it is the picture that really matters, and in that area, this set delivers in Sony tradition..excellent. For the money, a great set, a great value, but it will remind you it is entry level, something the S models did not do...of course, Sony's least, is still better than it's competitors best.

Toshiba 26AV502R 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note: I purchased this 26" LCD TV one week ago. As I am waiting for the cable company to upgrade my service, this set is simply receiving a standard cable signal without benefit of a converter box or High Def signal. Many LCD owners consider the signal source a major factor in image quality -- so I want to be clear on this point at the outset. Also, my DVD player is more than 5 years old and does not upconvert.
PROS:
Easy to install base pedestal. Four screws (provided) and a phillips head screwdriver are all that's needed. Instructions were clear and straight forward. Hooking up the coax cable took only a minute.
Superb remote control. Layout is intelligent and intuitive -- a pleasure to use. Glows in the dark (bright!) Sleep timer button is well placed on the upper corner and easy to access without even looking. Easily one the best designed remotes on the market and a pleasure to use.
Picture and sound set-up controls are very easy to understand. Owners manual instruction very clear and straightforward.
Sound is excellent. Very good quality and volume. Treble, Bass, and Balance controls are easy to use if you choose. For it's size and likely application -- a bedroom or a small den -- the sound is really quite good. This set has forward facing speakers -- not down firing as many LCD sets have.
Picture is fair to good. Live TV broadcasts such as news programs and talk shows appear brighter and with better, cleaner colors than movies -- especially films with dark scenes. DVD programs appear much better. (Please note again the standard coax cable signal source I am presently receiving)
2 HDMI inputs and multiple others. More than enough for most applications.
CONS:
Picture not as sharp as I would like, especially broadcast TV as opposed to DVD (standard DVD). Also, I am noticing scenes go from dark to light and back for no apparent reason. This could be due to a setting which may be improperly set .. but I've tried it both ways but see the same effect.
One other frustrating scenario for example: multiple camera shows. For example, a news program where you have an anchor in the studio and a reporter in the field. The anchor looks pretty good but the field reporter might look a bit green or orange. Other sets even this out, the Toshiba does not.
Conclusion:
For the money, this is probably the best value on a 26" LCD TV on the market today. Prices under $[...] are out there. If you are an "average" TV viewer, you may find this set to be just the ticket for your bedroom. But, if you have a critical eye, you may find the tuner or signal processing unit on this set a bit under par compared to Sony and Samsung -- perhaps more sophisticated technology, but which also carry price tags of $[...] and more higher.
Once I get a better cable signal, I may amend this review. Indeed, I will decide whether I am keeping the Toshiba or spending the extra money for the Samsung 26". So please "stay tuned".
UPDATE: Yesterday I installed a Panamax PM8-HT 8-Outlet Power Line Conditioner and Surge Protector. The image quality of this TV increased markedly! Panamax PM8-HT 8-Outlet Power Line Conditioner and Surge Protector

Overall, I have to say that it has quality and I really like the picture. I was disappointed in the fact that it does not tilt 30 degrees as it states. Eventhough it does not tilt, the picture quality is very good. I have it on a five shelf dresser and the picture quality is very good when laying on the bed. The setup was really easy and the picture of the DVD and sound is really good. I feel that the overall package was a very good value based on what I have experienced so far. If anything changes in my opinion, I will certainly let you know.

Bought to replace a smaller-screen TV in our bedroom. The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I've seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money.

I just got this tv a couple days ago, and its pretty nice. The picture is very bright when you take it out of the box, so you might want to dim the backlight some to reduce this, and save power too. The picture is great with this tv, the colors are great, and the led backlighting makes the dark areas real nice compared to regular lcd's which tend to have bright blacks. I hooked this up to my computer and it works great, it actually looked better than my 1080p computer monitor. One problem i had overall with this though is the speakers. They dont have much depth to them, they dont have much bass but have too much treble which I find a bit annoying. This tv works great for the bedroom, or if you hook it up to your computer too. Worth the buy!

Samsung LN26C350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) Review

Samsung LN26C350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
Average Reviews:

The picture quality is very good. I watch OTA channels only (no cable, fios, or satellite). The sound is typical of small tv's. Out of the box, the audio lacks bass; however, there is an equalizer to make adjustments or just use one of the preset modes. The bezel is big which makes the viewable screen look small. The bezel is 1.75 inches around, plus another 1.5 inches on the bottom for the speaker. I dislike the glossy bezel because it reflects light, which can be a distraction.
I have another Samsung purchased in 2008. There does not seem to be improvements in how this new Samsung tv tuner handles OTA multi-path problems. I would say it handles the same. There are some improvements in user interface. On the older tv, when changing channels, it would display the channel number and station ID on the upper right corner and, for some reason, it would show the audio mode (mono, stereo, mute) on the upper left corner. On this new tv, it only shows the channel number and station ID on the upper left corner. The onscreen display is transparent, so you can still watch the current channel beneath the onscreen display.
There is a button on the remote that brings up a list of channels and lists what program is on each channel. This saves you from switching channels to find out what else is on. Another button, the "info" button, displays a synopsis of the show you are watching. It also has a progress bar to show how much time the show has until it ends. My 2008 Samsung does not have a progress bar.
I had no problems connecting my laptop to this tv via the hdmi port. Video and audio passes through the hdmi port, which is good.

Wanted a bedroom TV that had full 1080p, network interface and Yahoo! Widgets (or similar capabilities). Most other TV manufacturers offer this combination of features only in models of 40 inches or larger -- I wanted a smaller size for a simple bedroom TV.
First, the good things... Very nice picture that remains clear and viewable even from way off angle -- this is its strongest feature. Also, the built-in Yahoo! Widgets include being able to view movies or listen to music ordered from services such as Netflix and Pandora without an outboard box. Further, one of the Widgets brings in TV Guide over the Internet, which is helpful if your cable company can't seem to successfully transmit a TV Guide (or similar function) over their own cable. I also found the remote control to actually be pretty good in the sense that the different buttons are of different shapes and sizes that you can actually find the correct buttons to push by touch without looking at them.
Second, the OK thing... I have to echo, to some extent, some of the other reviews that criticize the audio -- it's not really that bad, but I've had other LCD TVs of similar size that did better. I must say, though, that the audio is clear, so you won't find yourself unable to understand what someone is saying when they're speaking softly, and the speakers output a full enough range that you won't find yourself wondering where an instrument disappeared to when listening to a piece of music. I have encountered other small TVs (both old CRT types and current-day LCD types) that have had audio far, far worse than this -- some were so bad that the whole casing of the TV would vibrate when certain instruments were played in a piece of music -- this TV definitely does not have anything like that problem.
Third, the problem... It actually crashes! This has to be the weirdest thing I've ever experienced or have ever said about a TV, but this thing actually crashes to the extent that it completely ignores the remote and its built-in button controls, and can only be brought back under control by unplugging it! I'm guessing, but I think it's a simple case of overheating, because the crashes occur after it's been on for a number of hours to the point where the back side feels awfully hot. The heat is a little surprising, since this is an edge-lit LED TV, and not one that uses CCFL backlighting. Also, it doesn't seem to matter whether you use any of the Widget applications, or not -- the crashing occurs even when you do nothing more than feed it video from a cable box or other source. So, the crashing doesn't seem to be precipitated by running any particular Widget application.
Fourth, some missing information... It is not made clear on Vizio's website or even if you download a PDF of the user's manual, but this TV comes with an external brick-type power supply. This item caught me by surprise as most LCD TVs of this size (in my experience) have the power supply built in. This is not a big deal, unless you intend to wall-mount it, in which case, you'll need to decide what to do with the brick power supply.
All-in-all, I would be perfectly happy with this TV if I didn't occasionally need to unplug it in order to bring it back from crashing. It's this weird crashing behavior that is actually causing me to consider returning it.

Samsung Touch Of Color T260HD 25.5-Inch LCD HDTV Monitor Review

Samsung Touch Of Color T260HD 25.5-Inch LCD HDTV Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Samsung T260HD is the best monitor I've ever owned. I was using dual 19 inchers (Samsung 940BX and Samsung 971P) and this blows both of them away. I'm an amateur photographer and my photos look amazing on this monitor -- big screen, high resolution, clear bright colors. The images are very sharp and detailed. There is so much detail in the images, it's almost like being there. Photos have more detail in both the highlights and shadows than any other monitor I have used. I love this monitor.
With the default settings, the monitor was a little too bright, so I turned the brightness down to 50 and then profiled the monitor with my Monico Optix XR color puck. Now the monitor produces less bright and more natural colors. The photos show more detail in both highlight and shadow areas than any previous monitor. The built-in 1080P HDTV works great too. It automatically found all of my DTV stations without a cable box -- in fact it found even more than my cable box shows. Standard DVDs look very good on it too. The monitor was easy to setup and use both as a monitor and as a TV. The remote is just the right size, with all the essential buttons and enough space between them for even my large fingers. The remote lets you switch between TV mode and monitor mode with a single button push.
Initially I couldn't play Blu-ray movies on this monitor and the Cyberlink Blu-ray advisor reported a digital connection that didn't support HDCP. The problem turned out to be lack on HDCP support in the GeForce 7600GT video card. I upgraded the video card to a GeForce 9800GT and now Blu-ray movies play just fine. Blu-ray movies have a little more detail, but standard DVDs look great too.
The screen seems to have an anti-glare feature -- light coming in my window that used to cause glare on my other monitors, is not a problem on this monitor. I haven't verified this in the specs, but it just seems to have less of a glare problem than other monitors.
Now that I have this large widescreen monitor, I've started watching DVDs and instant Netflix movies on it. Both look great. With a high speed connection, the instant view movies look almost as good as DVDs.
I still have a 19inch monitor to the side of this one for games that don't display well at this resolution. It also adds as an overflow monitor when I get lots of stuff running.
This monitor is a little slow to wake up after being asleep (Windows power management). I discovered that it wakes up better when detecting a mouse click than just moving the mouse.
I tried using the monitor from both the HDMI and DVI connectors and found no noticeable difference in display quality.
The sound quality from the built-in speakers is okay for watching standard TV, but I normally use my Logitech THX-certified Z-2300 speakers which are much better. When using the T260HD as a TV I let the sound come out of its own speakers, but when using it as a monitor, the sound routes through the Logitech Z-2300 speakers. They have excellent sound for both movies and gaming and are only $83 on Amazon.
If you are thinking of getting one of these monitors, just do it. You will love it.

VIZIO M260VA 26-Inch Class RazorLED 720p LCD HDTV, Black Review

VIZIO M260VA 26-Inch Class RazorLED 720p LCD HDTV, Black

I bought this Vizio because I needed a decent sized tv that was relatively cheap but would also fit into a dorm room. The picture quality is excellent and the difference between this tv's 720p and other 1080p is negligible. At first colors looked a little washed out on my 360 but after fiddling with the tv/xbox settings it now looks superb. The size of the tv is also nice...it is lightweight and is super slim. The only thing that could be improved on is the speakers which imo are still a lot better than most tv's in this price range/size. It sounds a little hollow and could use more bass but overall it isn't too bad (it helps to turn off srs surround and switch to rock equalizer). Volume also isn't too big of an issue with this tv like on other tv's since this has front facing speakers as opposed to rear speakers. There is also very little lag or ghosting at 8ms and 60ghz refresh rates. Highly recommended if you are looking for a tv that is cost efficient and has good picture quality.

ViewSonic VT2730 27-Inch 1920x1080 LCD Flat-Panel HDTV Review

ViewSonic VT2730 27-Inch 1920x1080 LCD Flat-Panel HDTV

First of all, let me say that it took a lot of research to find this TV but I'm glad I made the effort. I have a 20 year-old AV center in my living room made of real wood and I won't part with it for anything. Unfortunately, it's age means that the bay for the TV is square and pretty small by today's standards. The best that could fit in it before was a Magnavox 25" CRT weighing over 60 lbs. In my research, I found that most 26" HDTV s barely fit. I wanted a Sony Bravia 26" to match my Sony Bravia-aware receiver but the price was too high, they only offered a 22" in that size range, and it was only 720p. Their loss.
Then, I discovered this unit from ViewSonic. They call it a 27" and trust me, unlike other manufacturers, it really is a full 27". Best of all, it's 1080p capable, weights only 19 lbs., and the thin left and right borders meant that it fit in my bay with an inch on both sides to spare! Plus, that extra inch in screen size translates into a noticeably larger viewing area. It arrived via UPS in the same box that it would be found if you bought it in a store. That's fine for store-bought, but it's pretty flimsy for a shipment delivery. The plastic handle was broken and the box was slightly damaged on one edge. I'm amazed that the TV was OK.
The picture is excellent and just a little less in quality that the big-name brands. However, the sound is a little weak, even in stereo mode. That won't matter to me since it is attached to my surround sound system. There are _lots_ of connections in the back meaning that you can turn this TV into the core of a media center without the need of a surround sound system to pull everything together.
Pluses: Great picture, excellent price, easy setup, lots of connection options, great for small spaces or a bedroom.
Minuses: Average sound.

ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black Review

ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned this monitor for six months now and it has been one of my best purchases in years. I wanted a some what large monitor to use on my glass computer desk which consist of my PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and an original Xbox. First, this awesome thing is full 1080P (1920X1080P) via HDMI, DVI, VGA and even component! it's also widescreen 16X10 and not 16X9, confused? it looks a bit taller and larger than other monitors of the same screen size (25.5).
All 16X9 material like PS3 and Xbox 360 games are upcoverted to 16X10 meaning your gaming world will look just a bit more skinny and taller, this makes the games look awesome though, I have switch to 16X9 mode a couple of times (you get slight 1 inch thick black bars on the top and bottom) but original 16X9 looks weird to me now, characters look fat etc similiar to when a full screen picture is stretch to fill a widescreen display. You will love gaming on 16X10 trust me it looks wonders without any loss of picture quality. I have my PC on VGA, my 360 on HDMI, my PS3 on DVI (via hdmi to dvi) and my original xbox on component running in 480p (note that this component input is capable of full 1080p though) I noticed that 480p on this monitor looks so much better than my old Sony 32 inch HDTV, games like halo 2 and ghost recon look like 720p games! I recommend to not use the build in speakers though (who does?) buy yourself some nice PC speakers and just use the audio out jack from the monitor and your set.
The 2ms response time is brilliant on first person shooters with no ghosting at all(ghosting is what makes the screen blurry when turning or slowly moving in games). The bluish tint was there with factory settings so take a few minutes to adjust the brightness and saturation, or use these:
SPLENDID : Scenery. BRIGHTNESS 100. CONTRAST 100. SHARPNESS 100. SATURATION 73, ASCR: OFF (VERY IMPORTANT) COLOR TEMP: Cool, SKIN TONE: Reddish. ASPECT CONTROL: FULL (BUT USE 4:3 FOR NON WIDESCREEN GAMES) and for xbox 360 go to your display settings and choose "1080p" from HDTV SETTINGS, choose "standard" from REFERENCE LEVELS, and choose "YCbCr709" from HDMI COLOR SPACE, for PS3 is all automatic so don't worry about it. There it is! enjoy!
