(More customer reviews)Driving can sometimes become a chore more than fun. Some have even come to dread driving on that horrid three hour road trip up north. This Alpine in-dash TV is the solution to all your problems. I personally love mine. I had purchased mine for my 1999 Ford Mustang GT convertible. I bought mine for the long two and a half hour drive back and forth from school at Western Michigan University. It was the best investment of my life! It made the time pass right on by.
Before the TV was installed I would have to day dream and the ride would seem endless, but with the TV now it is a whole different story. All I have to do now is pop my favorite DVD in and let it play. By the time the movie is over I am almost to my destination. This is a lot safer with a friend driving my car but it's not hard to glance down every once in a while. These units range from all different prices from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars. This particular Alpine in-dash TV is also touch screen which a huge helping hand. Instead of having to dig between the seat and the floor to find the remote, you just have to touch the screen.
Some states are trying to ban any type of screen visible to the driver. Michigan however has not passed a such law yet, so if you are a resident of Michigan you have nothing to worry about. The law is also trying to enforce a rule that an able to activate the TV screen to come out of the dash the parking brake must be up, therefore making it impossible to watch while the car is in motion. This is also not a problem, you can simply ground that wire out of if you have a professional install your unit, which I suggest, and you can sign a waver that will wave that rule.
Many companies are coming out with items to compete with these in-dash TV units such as units that mount in other spots still visible to the driver such as in the visors. These units are not as good. They generally cost a little bit less but have a terrible resolution and do not have the same tilt feature the in-dash TV units do that will not let the sunlight inhibit your viewing.
This item is the real deal and I would encourage anyone who is bored of driving to purchase such a unit. It will prove to be a great investment and will also improve not only you vehicles worth but also your coolness with everyone you pull up next to at a red light of traffic jam!
