G.Skill Trident Series - Memory - 12 GB : 3 x 4 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 2000 MHz / PC3-16000 - CL8 - 1.65 V - unbuffered - non-ECC Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I recently upgraded to a new system, and the G. Skill Trident+ has played a large hand in getting me top-notch gaming performance. Together with a Core i7 980X Extreme and two nVidia GeForce 480GTX cards, there's nothing we can't play, no setting we can't max out. In Windows 7 Professional, the G.Skill scores a 7.9 on the Windows Experience Index (WEI), and when using 3DMark06 my system gets close to 30,000 benchmarks.
This set of triple-channel RAM comes with a nice extra: an easy-to-mount fan to keep the RAM cool. You should be aware that the mount isn't sturdy--rather, the arms of the fan are designed to be hand-bent to the appropriate width. They don't click into place so much as they cling to either end of your memory slots and perch spiderlike over the top.
The fans are small, but they aren't particularly noisy: with the case shut and the system fans running I could barely hear the additional noise. Mine don't ramp speeds up and down with performance, they just run constantly the whole time the machine is on. To be honest, you may not need them unless you start experiencing technical problems: if you don't have the headroom in your case to stuff this extra in you might consider sparing yourself the trouble.
If you're looking for a powerful upgrade, the Trident+ Turbulence kit is an excellent choice. The fan is a nice extra, but may not be necessary. Either way, I've been more than satisfied with the performance of this triple-channel kit.

Epson P-6000 80GB Multimedia Storage Drive, Photo Viewer and Audio-Video Player w/ 4-Inch LCD Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I've tried to go the cheap route when it comes to backing up my digital photos in the field, such as combining the (awful) Aleratec Copy Cruiser Plus with a large-capacity (16G) USB pen drive, and using an adapter and my iPod to offload the data from my CF cards. The latter solution works OK in a pinch, but has several limitations, including the iPod's small screen, the slowness of the process, and the very narrow functionality of the interface (great for music, not quite adequate for viewing, judging, and copying photos).
The Epson was designed from the ground up for duplicating digital photos (JPEG and RAW formats) on the road, a necessary task for photographers who prize their images as well as their sanity. It should fit nicely into any photo professional's 'out-of-doors' workflow.
The device works very well (and pretty fast: for instance, I just copied 322 Mb worth of data -- that's 100 JPEG photos taken with a 10-megapixel camera at the highest-quality settings -- in just over 60 seconds). The 4-inch screen is bright and draws beautifully detailed images. The controls, while not the latest in ergonomic excellence (the 'back' button in particular could have been better placed), are easy to press and a cinch to figure out (I never even had to crack the manual).
Like my Apple computers, the Epson multimedia viewers stand out for their plug-and-play elegance and simplicity. Push a CF card into the slot, or an SD card in a different slot next to it, and the viewer offers to let you browse the files on the card or copy the data to the P-3000's hard drive. You can also copy data to or from a USB device such as an external hard disk or a thumb drive. Want more? You can hide and password-protect folders; play slideshows with or without visual effects and with or without built-in music files playing as a soundtrack; give your photos a one-to-five-star rating to quickly separate the wheat from the chaff; look at EXIF data, blown highlights, and a histogram for each image; use an AV-out cable to show your images on a TV screen, and on and on.
Of course, when viewing a photo, you can zoom in (up to 400 percent) to check details and sharpness,
Later on, when you're ready to copy your images to your computer, just run the supplied USB cable from the Epson to your Mac or PC and the viewer shows up on your virtual desktop as a standard USB 2.0 drive. After a big job such as a wedding, this obviates the need to copy three or four or more memory cards to your computer via an external card reader. With the Epson viewer, all the backed-up data are already in one easily 'copyable' location.
The Epson also lets you copy and play back video footage and MP3s. I have little use for the latter (that's what my iPod is for), but the video-player capability, though hardly crucial for my purposes, makes the P-3000 a pretty sweet and versatile road tool.
I can't think of an actual feature that I'm missing -- OK, maybe wireless capability -- though that's not to say that this is a perfect product. The viewer is slightly unwieldy (about the size of the average automotive GPS unit); I have to think that top-notch engineering could reduce the dimensions a bit. I would have liked some kind of built-in protector that you can fold or draw shut over the fairly vulnerable screen. Speaking of missing hardware, the Epsons really should come with a stand that lets you angle the unit for optimal viewing. Also, it's a bit annoying that the device won't copy data to your computer's hard drive unless the unit's power adapter is attached, even if you have a full battery.
Still, other than my cameras and lenses, this is the best photo tool I've bought in a long time. If you're a professional photographer who, like me, doesn't like to lug a laptop around but could do with fewer backup worries after you're done shooting a big assignment away from home, the Epson P-3000 or P-5000 will bring both pride of ownership and peace of mind.

Corsair Dominator 16 GB 4 x 4 GB PC3-10666 1333mHz 240-pin CAS 9 Dual Channel DDR3 Core i3, i5, i7 Memory Kit CMP16GX3M4A1333C9 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I purchased this memory to use with an Intel i7 950 processor on an Intel DX58SO motherboard.
The memory is advertised at the Corsair website as Intel i7 compatible, so far, so good for me. After installing it, the motherboard BIOS showed my 16GB installed and Windows 7 is also working fine.
This is a kit that comes with 4 DDR3 memories and a Corsair Dominator fan.
Each memory is packaged in its own individual anti-static hard box, so you can keep them in there if you don't need or don't want all modules at one time.
Be aware that the the DX58SO motherboard has the memory "above" the processor (above in case refers to the top of the mid-tower I installed it in). So if you are thinking about buying an alternate cooling system for your processor (like the Cooler Master V8), you may not be able to install the memory fan kit properly.

(More customer reviews)This set of Corsair DDR3 memory modules is the best in the market, but it didn't work great with my Asus Rampage Extreme adn have requisted a replacement form Amazon.com, which they ship out very fast like the next business day delevery; however, these memory modules would give a blue screen. The first set would give a blue screen as well, but it would keep dump the physical memory. The second set that gave me a blue screen, would not dump the physical memory, but would just keep the blue screen on my computer and would not be able to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit or even 32 bit. So, I have requested Corsair for a RMA support, but having yeat recieved a respons. I will recontact them and see what would happen, I love Amazon.com, but with product I have had no luck. I have the OCZ Technologies Fatal1ty DDR3 memory modules, which aren't bad but they are slower than these Corsair DDR3 memory modules. I would purchase these from some where else.

(More customer reviews)This memory was inexpensive in comparison to the same Corsair memory. About half the price. I couldn't get it to go above 1066MHz. I have an evga X58 motherboard. I'm not blaming the memory but I don't think the Corsair would have had the same problem. Obviously I'm a Corsair fan. But I can't pass up a bargain either.

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The memory works great with my motherboard that has only three memory slots. It cost more than I would like. The heatsink is a little taller than standard so be mindful if you have a tight space. One last thing, the heatsink is the only surface available to use as a lever on which to apply force when inserting. I was concerned this may damage the chips. All in all no errors and very stable.

Samsung NB30 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I do tech support for a living, and often find that I need to have a computer of my own (rather than use a client's PC) when I am onsite fixing problems. My previous portable notebook was a 7-pound Sony which really had way too many bells and whistles for what I usually needed -- that is, just a basic PC, as light and as rugged as possible. When I saw the Samsung NB30, I knew I'd found what I was looking for.
The NB30 is a sweet little machine -- it is fairly speedy, it has great battery life, it's light (even with the AC adapter in my backpack, the entire package is less than 4 pounds), and it's got a "corduroy" outer case which is fingerprint- and scratch-resistant. The Windows 7 Starter operating system was easily upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate (since I do tech support, I need full access to the entire operating system) using Windows Anytime Upgrade, and upgrading the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB (highly recommended) took only a couple of minutes.
If you're looking for a netbook, I highly recommend the NB30.

The exterior is protected, too, with a scratch-resistant, texturized matte black finish. And the NB30 also incorporates a water-tight seal to prevent potential damage from contact with up to 50cc of spilled water (less than 2 ounces) if removed within 10 seconds.

This lightweight netbook gives you access to all the computing tools you'll need on the go, and it offers a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, the latest Intel Atom N450 processor, Windows 7 Starter operating system, and up to 6.5 hours of battery life. Based on an entirely new micro-architecture, the Intel Atom N450 is specifically designed to deliver excellent Internet performance and increase energy efficiency to extend battery life.

Corsair TR3X6G1600C7D Dominator 6 GB PC3-12800 1600 MHz 240-pin Triple Channel Core i7 DDR3 Memory Kit Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I got 2 sets of this RAM (12GB worth) for my new system build :
EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 X58 3-Way SLI
2 Corsair TR3X6G1600C7D Dominator set's (12G total)
Intel I7-975 Extreme Processor
I was VERY impressed with the stablility of this build. I was able to run the RAM at 1600MHZ (1600MHZ is considered overclocked for the systemboard) with NO issues at all, even under-volted the RAM. I had assumed the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) would need to be reflashed to match up the RAM since I bought 2 seperate sets. Well, everything matched up, and no reflash was needed. I have to say everything about this build went flawlessly. All the usual overclocking utilities (Prime95, etc) all run without any issues. It's nice when things just work.

Acer AS5551-2805 15.6-Inch Notebook Computer Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My previous laptops were IBM, Dell, and Gateway. Being out of work, I was looking to buy the most computer for the least money. Get the size screen I want, roomy keyboard, highest RAM, enough HD storage space and best processor...but balance them all out for the optimum computer.
And this ACER was the best choice, dollar for dollar.
BUT..of course there is a but.....the keyboard and the joints/joinings for different parts feel 'cheap'. The plastic molding around the screen pulled out (away from the actual screen) when I was removing the film that covered all parts of the laptop when it is shipped. The rt/lf click on the built-in mousepad is very clunky.
You do get what you pay for. IF this ACER lasts 2 years without breaking (the keyboard, the casement, the cables between screen and computer, etc) I'll be eating my words.
Comparable models (same RAM, HD Memory, Dual Processor) of other makes were 30-50% higher in price. Technology developing as fast as it does, 3 years out of a laptop should be plenty.
