(More customer reviews)I will write a brief review here--part of the brevity is because of the length of time I have kept and used this after buying from Amazon. Yes, sadly, I am returning my unit back to Amazon because of one specific and known problem with Dell laptops: Within a day of getting this laptop, after restarts of the computer, I started to get a message like: Power adapter not recognized. Please use a Dell 90w adapter otherwise the battery may not charge.
The message went away on its own and never returned after a few hours of use. The laptop's battery kept charging fine and, with or without the power-cord connected, the laptop worked just fine.
In fact, it worked superbly! The display is crisp and bright. The keyboard is soft and responsive. The speed of running various concurrent applications (Adobe Dreamweaver, MS Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, MS Visual Studio...) was just fine.
I did not want to return it especially after having spent some much time setting it up. But, after doing some research online and after being advised by someone at Dell's own 'Community' boards to return the unit, I have decided to return this to Amazon. These power adapter problems are all too common in Dell laptops apparently. But then Dell does ship tens of thousands of laptops every month and I may be one of those few unfortunate recipients of bad units.
I will probably another Dell laptop again in future. This was a very nice and powerful laptop. Problems can happen in hardware. May be one or two misplaced pins in the power-adapter or its connection to the computer can cause such problem. While mine started to work fine with the warning about the power adapter but I just could not take a chance in case this laptop breaks down in future. This may not be my bread and butter but sure does contributes to making financial life a bit easier.
