(More customer reviews)After owning 3 messenger bags for my laptop and books, and having each one wear out in some (major) way after about a year/year-and-a-half, I decided to finally bite the bullet and get a laptop backpack. This one seemed to be at a good price ($35), and the reviews were nearly glowing with enthusiasm and praise, so I went for it.
The first thing I noticed when it came was that the picture online is a bit deceptive in that it makes it seem very small; this was not really the case on my smallish 5'8" frame. So it is a bit larger than I had expected, but because of that it holds a lot... and I mean... A LOT. After using it for a week now, I can say that the two strongest pluses are that it's built like a veritable tank (I've never seen such quality nylon before!), and it is designed in such a way that, even fully loaded, it disperses the weight well, and puts minimal pressure on your shoulders. Very good for the back.
All in all, I'm very happy so far. This bag lives up to the reviews, and I hope that it will last a long, long time for me.

I just returned yesterday from my first trip with this backpack. Over one week, I took this bag on 6 plane trips, 2 bus rides, 1 taxi ride, 1 shuttle ride, and multiple car rides. I can say that it is definitely worth its price... and then some. It's ridiculously durable (and comfortable!), and with a 3-year warranty, I don't think you could go wrong with this bag. A definite must-have for those on the go! Highly recommended.

Still loving this backpack, but I thought it would be good if I mentioned one downside that I hadn't expected. I had it out the other day in a heavy rain for the first time. I wasn't really out in the rain that long, but it was evident that this bag isn't very water proof. A book and some papers got fairly wet, and I'm glad that my laptop wasn't in there at the time.

(More customer reviews)I'm a sucker for Acme Made products, so I snapped this bag up at a reduced price. It's spacious, boxy and BIG. Finely detailed as can be expected from Acme, however their presumption that everybody wears these sort of bags on their right-side, with access to the exterior pocket and compartment on the left (or in back if you wear the thing on your left, like I do, renders them almost useless. Zippers with metal teeth.. like . . . "OW!" But there's enough great about it to like.

I'm in and out of Domestic and International airports many times and many times crashing on the airport floor and yes using this bag as a pillow(for obvious reasons). I state this to give you a sense of how much this bag gets used. I usually go through bags every 2 years for various reasons; bored, poor quality, broken. I've had them all TUMI, Brenthaven, Samsonite, Targus... All good quality. But why five stars for Korchmar. I rarely give five stars. Every case you buy will have some problem either early or in the future. The weighing factor in selecting a product is always customer service. That is why the five stars. I must say they have one of the best customer service departments I've had the pleasure of receiving service. I first had a problem with the front flap buckles. Pulling my bag from under the seat of the plane always dislodge at least one of these buckles. I did some research and discovered this was a defect and contacted Korchmar. Within hours, I received a response to my email. I had to send a picture of the buckle. Within a week of receiving my email, my buckles arrived. No more issues. Then last week the buckle on the strap broke. Again sent an email with a picture and within hours received a response stating that my new strap was on its way upon confirmation of mailing address. This is why I give this product five stars...
BTW: My dog chewed the canvas flaps on the side pockets. I had a leather smith custom build a new leather flap for both sides. Still makes the bag look great. I've had people on the plane compliment me on the bag and ask who makes the bag.

(More customer reviews)This is a beautiful lightweight bag, but be warned: Your basic 15" laptop will NOT fit into the computer pouch! When I learned this, it was a huge disappointment. The leather is very nice and the bag is extremely lightweight, so I may keep it anyway.

SwissGear SA1923 ScanSmart Black Backpack Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this backpack for school. After an exhaustive search online, in local stores and across campus, I can definitively say that this is hands down the best laptop backpack you can buy!
Pros:
1. Tons of space and usable compartments:
- 1 padded laptop compartment
- 1 thin compartment that can be used for papers and folders
- 1 main compartment that contains vertical dividers to keep things organized, a smaller interior mesh pocket, and an ipod/cell phone pouch that leads to a slit in the top of the backpack for a headphone cord
- 1 decent sized pocket on each side (I use 1 for my laptop charger and accessories)
- 2 stretchy water bottle pockets big enough for the big 1 liter bottles (good for umbrella too)
- 1 small pocket on the top front
- 1 pocket on the bottom front that contains a bunch of small organizer pockets found in every backpack that nobody ever uses
2. Comfort: padded, shock absorbing arm pads, padded back, and a comfortable handle on top.
3. Appearance: In my opinion, this is one of the best looking backpacks out there, but I can't argue with taste so if you have one of those ugly backpacks, that's fine with me.
4. Price: Phenomenal deal! ($50 when I purchased it) Would have gladly spent more (don't tell amazon)
Cons: (there really are none... I'm nitpicking here)
1. The opening for the laptop is on the side (not the top) which makes it a little awkward to get in and out. Not a big deal though.
2. I would have liked a little more padding underneath the laptop. The amount of padding is pretty similar to most other laptop cases though. You just need to be careful about setting it down to hard.
3. The size was perfect for my 15.6 widescreen. I haven't tried a 17", but I'm guessing it would be too big (if you could get it to fit inside, it would be VERY tight)

(More customer reviews)My husband has been using this case for 4 years. He overloads it, carries it every day and on lots of domestic and international trips. It is more expensive than the other computer cases he's had, but this one is in exactly the same condition as when he bought it. Wheels are intact, exterior is fine, frame is sturdy.
So, for Christmas, we bought one for our son who travels extensively, too.
One nice feature: it has a panel on the back that attaches to a rolling bag securely. Great bag.
