(More customer reviews)I've had two of these hard drives for over 3 months now I am completely in love with them.
The connectivity, the style, the capacity, the speed, and how it goes perfectly with the rest of my Apple gear... it's just an amazing piece of hardware.
I use one primarily for editing, and the other one as a back up with Time Machine. Haven't had any problems so far and if I ever need another HDD I know I'll get another G-Tech, this one, or if they come out with a better one then that one.
Love it!
EDIT - 08/26/2009: Still have it and still going strong. All hard drives crash eventually, but I can guarantee that whenever these two puppies fail I will be getting another G-Tech drive. Truly a remarkable product and the only hard drives I currently recommend.

(More customer reviews)Finally, an excellent solution to my large file redundant back-up needs! With hot-swappable drives, G-Safe allows me to keep a pair of true RAID copies on-site and also use a third drive (bought separately) that I can rotate and keep at an off-site location. I have another G-Safe used for other projects, and it's been working flawlessly for over 2 years. I'm just glad this new larger 2 TB storage format is available for system-wide back-ups. Perfect for Mac Time Machine back-ups, video, photographs, and anything for which you really can't afford to lose a byte. Per GB, it's very reasonable cost for the storage safety you need. Only possible critique: cooling fan is a couple dB above my desk background noise; otherwise fine. Looks great, too.

I love Hitachi and i never had a bad experience with any of its products, so i bought this drive unboxed it when it arrived and found 4 sets of cables 1 mini USB, 1 eSata, 1 FireWire 400, 1 FireWire 800 the drive was little heavy but still reasonable and made from high quality aluminum that matches Apple Aluminum color exactly i connected power and connected it by FireWire 800 to my Mac and pushed the Power button wow it popped on my desktop! I choose get info and there it was 6TB nice :) its really quiet no clicking sounds and very fast and it wont get hot i love it and it deserves 5 stars and the $700 i paid for it, I highly recommend it...

(More customer reviews)Purchased from Amazon, and have owned MANY external drives. These drives are first rate, from the construction, to the design, to the details, including hidden heat sink under drive. They run warm (not hot), and they behave very well with my Mac Pro. They quickly go to sleep when not in use, and they wake up when the computer calls for them. This is an issue with many external drives. These, on the other hand, are perfectly behaved, very quiet, and fast. I am using them on Firewire 800 for time machine and SuperDuper Clone backups, and they are flawless. SuperDuper Clone can boot system and is a perfect substitute, just as advertised. I have used this method for years, but some of the external drives have let me down. Not these. I have finally finished my long and expensive search for the right external drive. Should have started here in the beginning. Almost forgot... Amazon was the vendor. Nothing needs to be added to that except... Perfect. I will add more as I can afford, to use as external SATA using the 5th and 6th SATA ports on my Mac Motherboard. Been less successful with this with other drives, but I feel good about these drives. One thing, of course... Put a piece of black tape (I used a square piece of black duct tape) on face of white light on drive. It makes the light tolerable. Otherwise it is like headlights from an oncoming car. But the black tape looks factory, and you can still see the light. You'll understand when you do this.
