Finding this product can be a little hard on Amazon because many people are looking for the Wacom name but it only comes up as Acad. I hope Amazon can update the ad to include Wacom (I bet they will sell more).
This pad is pretty big so make sure you have some room on your desk! It really can make many Photoshop task easier and more fun. It works well with other programs too so if you get one make sure and try it out! My friend's daughter enjoys using Corel Painter with it.

Wacom Intuos3 SE 9x12 - Special Edition Review

Wacom Intuos3 SE 9x12 - Special Edition
Average Reviews:

This was my first purchase of a tablet and I have to say, this unit really does the job. It's simple to learn, easy to use and in general makes any art project faster and more fun. Photoshop and Corel Painter X are the perfect combination. I also use Toon Boom, which is for animations (2D) and it works beautifully with this tablet as well.
On thing to remember, the 9x12 is a large unit, so it takes up a reasonable amount of space on your desktop.
Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone. Those new to tablets, or even art in general as well as professionals. Using a computer for orginal artwork, always felt a bit off. But now, I feel creative again. It allows me to feel in control of the brush strokes I make, and that...is a wonderful feeling!

Wacom Intuos3 9 x 12-Inch USB Tablet--Metallic Gray Review

Wacom Intuos3 9 x 12-Inch USB Tablet--Metallic Gray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have to say that after years and years of greedily drooling at the thought of getting a 9x12 Intuos tablet, I have finally purchased the 9x12 Intuos 3. And it's huge. Not HUGE like thick or heavy, just spacious. And so far I can't put it down. Really. I haven't cleared enough space on the desk. But then why would I want to? It doesn't get hot, it's the right size for a lap desk, and I can use it for most of what I do from 9 to 5. Except typing. Anyway here's my take on it:
-----------------------
SIZE
I'm moving up from the 4x5 Intuos 2 which will now live in my laptop bag. You may be just fine with a smaller tablet, and travel concerns may make this a little unwieldy. The full tablet is 3 additional inches on the left right and bottom sides around the 9x12" area, so it's a grand total of 17x13" in the bag. No big deal for anyone accustomed to carrying an art portfolio around. Stack two Intuos2/Graphire 4x5 tablets flat on top of each other, and that's about how thick it is. (If you're considering buying a 9x12 you probably have a few of these lying around)
TABLET & SCREEN AREA
if you don't like the overabundance of space, you can always limit the tablet area in the Wacom control panel to ANY dimensions up to 9x12, mapped to any area of the pad. I feel sometimes that I am moving my arm way too far all over this space for most of my work, so it's good to know I can reduce the physical tablet area controlling the entire screen to a 3x5 box in the corner. This particular feature is very good for "tracing" a photo or small object placed on the tablet and still drawing to the entire screen.
Likewise you can limit the amount of screen area the whole tablet can control. For VERY VERY precise control over a small screen area this is the best option. An alternative to zooming the image to work details. Also useful for avoiding accidental menu-clicks, and prevents the pointer from migrating into toolboxes or clicking scrollbars and other windows.
All this space does provide a fantastic level of control. It's just different. You realize how little you move the mouse most of the time to work on a computer when you start using your entire arm to work. Usually it's all about the flick of the wrist.
QUICKPOINT "VIRTUAL-TABLETS"
An added bonus I discovered (not on the smaller tablets to my knowledge) is the "Quickpoint" dual tablet feature. Two "virtual" tablets control the same screen. The lower left or right corner becomes a tiny 2x3 tablet, and the upper left/right opposite corner becomes a 7x9 tablet (approximately). The 2x3 gives you fast access to the whole screen with very little pointer movement, and the 7x9 gives you precision control. Two tablets in one!
WIDESCREEN / DUAL MONITOR SUPPORT
Happy to say it works very well with dual screens. You can span both screens using the full tablet, choose which screen to control exclusively, or reduce the functional tablet area to match the aspect ratio of spanned/dual monitors.
As far as widescreen monitor support, this tablet can automatically adjust the active area to match the aspect ratio of any screen. So if you are considering the 6x11 widescreen Wacom, remember this tablet can double as a 7x12 widescreen. I used a grey Sharpie to draw faint lines on the tablet surface to map out different screen ratios.
BASICS
USB of course.. Nice 8 foot cord so you can move around a bit, excellent for putting the tablet in your lap. Has a pretty blue light.
Thankfully the 1/2 "tracing overlay" is gone. Sorry to whoever was saying that was the primary feature for them.. In my experience it just gets dirt and coffee and whatever else you carelessly do to your tablet all stuck up in it. And if you accidentally crease it.. oh the pain...
STYLUS & NIBS
The grip pen is nice, bigger than the Intuos 2 pen and has a good weight, otherwise the same. The "6D" art pen actually has two tips inside the felt nib, but sometimes the tablet doesn't register both tips (critical to rotation data) unless you plunk the nib down FLAT on the tablet before you start your stroke. Without both tips active it just works like the grip pen.
The nibs are interesting, I haven't discovered how the springloaded "Stroke Nib" is so much different from the standard white plastic nib. Says it's "amazing" on the website but really.. ehh. But the "Felt Nib" is definitely different. Kind of makes me think of a Flair Pen. It has considerable friction against the surface and squeaks on the tablet like a marker. This is good if your hand isn't surgeon-steady or if you want slower more precise strokes, but it is a bit grabby if you press too hard. Draw lines with a Sharpie marker on copier paper with a little extra pressure and it feels about the same. My previous trick with the Intuos 2 was to tape paper on top of the tablet to add friction.
MOUSE
As for the 5D mouse, I think it's easier to use a regular mouse on the side. Although the extra surface area makes a mouse much more practical on this pad than it is on a 4x5.
The mouse will jitter and is act strange IF you don't put the tablet in "mouse mode." The software *should* just do that automatically, but sometimes it doesn't catch on. Once the mouse is specifically set to mouse mode in the driver settings it should stay in mouse mode any time it's on the pad, and can be moved relative to wherever screen pointer is just like a regular mouse. Otherwise in pen mode the mouse directly tracks the tablet precisely where you place it, and the screen pointer jumps to that spot--just like the pens. If you WANT you can put the pens in mouse mode, but again, weird.
MACROS
I use the Wacom mice mostly to run unrestricted macros that Microsoft and Logitech don't seem to want to let you run with their "programmable" mice these days. Think "QuicKeys" on a mouse. You can program an unlimited string of keystrokes and menu commands, and link the macros globally or restrict them to specific applications.
THE "EXPRESS KEYS"
(THOSE RECTANGLE THINGS ON THE SIDES)
You can program the left and right sets independently. Again, you have complete control of any method of macro you'd like to assign to any of the buttons. There is a whole list of options for each button and both scroll bars. So you have eight buttons and two scrolls to program to your heart's desire on the pad. IN ADDITION to simple button macros there is a "pop up menu" you can assign to any of the buttons. Just like a Windows Right-Click menu, it appears wherever the pointer is--only you have complete control of the menu content.
CONCLUSION
My only gripe goes to Adobe for disabling most of the stylus/pen features in Photoshop by default. It gets a little tiresome enabling size, opacity, tilt, and rotation for almost every brush..
As for everything else the tablet was meant to do different from a mouse, pressure sensitivity, tilt, rotation, high resolution tracking, lack of jitter.. it works fantastically. I'm just going to have to adjust to the huge 9x12 stroke. So give your Aiptek to someone you hate this Christmas, and hook yourself up with a Wacom!
Next up, Cintiq! Paycheck.. well, better job, paycheck, THEN Cintiq!
---------------------------
WISH LIST
Why do we have only one pointer (focus point) on the screen? Why not a dedicated pointer per-device now that USB makes the mouse addressable?
A "Wacom Glove" would be great. If I could put on a special glove or just little thimble-nibs and have fingertip control on this tablet they'd have one helluva product. Kids could fingerpaint!
In addition to that, is there any technical reason why given the right input device this thing couldn't function like one giant "touchpad" with surface area detection and everything? If the 6D can recognize two points simultaneously, what's the technical limit?
bye

I am extremely happy with my HP mini in pink, from Amazon. It arrived several days before the expected delivery date and was securely packaged. I've owned it less than 24hrs, but so far I am pleased with this mini pc. It is perfect for people who do basic functions like surfing the web, checking email, and chatting. I purchased mine mainly to participate in my online classes, while on the go!

The Internet is at the center of modern life keeping you connected and informed through email, IMs, RSS feeds, social networking sites and Search. Keeping up often requires time shifting with companion devices like netbooks. Powered by energy-efficient Intel Atom processors, the HP Mini 110 is optimized for Web access and can handle standard productivity apps - but is light enough to carry everywhere at just 2.33 lbs. Its LED anti-glare display reduces reflection that can distract from the visual experience, especially when used outside. The 92% of full-size keyboard enables much more efficient and comfortable use than texting (or typing on smartphone keyboards) for most. Windows 7 makes locating and connecting to hotspots easier and faster than ever. The HP Mini 110 is the perfect device for staying productive, informed and in touch.

Wacom Intuos3 6 x 11-Inch Pen Tablet Review

Wacom Intuos3 6 x 11-Inch Pen Tablet

Ok, if you have two monitors side by side, or a single wide-screen format, this is the way to go! I use this tablet with the Mac G5, with full functionality, and 1024 levels of pressure from the pen to the screen. I have used the smaller tablets from Wacom, and they work very well, but this particular product is designed and constructed VERY WELL and makes the left right monitor design a breeze to use!
Having the assignable "ExpressKeys" left and or right is really slick for repetitive
tasks.
This model stands 5/8" high/thick, 10 and 7/8" deep (front to back), and just under 16 and 1/2" wide. Take two late model white Mac keyboards and set them one behind the other, and that is about the footprint this item covers, (width and depth).
So, you will need some desk space, or I have found myself using this item on my lap with the pen. Quite comfortable!
In any scenario, this is by far one of the greatest products you could add to have the flexibility to be creative with whatever application you use.
Thanks Wacom!

Microsoft Visio Professional 2007 Review

Microsoft Visio Professional 2007
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I been using Visio Enterprise 2003 for the last 3 years with Sql Server 2000. My only use of visio relates to database modeling. Once the drawing is been approved, I simply used "Update" option to update database. The update option is a time saving feature in a rapid application development environment for changing relationship, keys and constraints. Writing those changes back to Sql Server is a smooth process.
Recently i changed my development environment to SQL Server 2005 and figured out that Visio 2003 Enterprise does not work with SQL Server 2005. So I decided to buy visio professional 2007 to use the single feature of database modeling.
Upon installation, I figured that there is no option for writing changes back to SQL Server 2005 in either version of Visio (2003 Enterprise, 2007 Professional). In simple there is no "update" or "generate" command in visio professional 2007.
Put it simple. If you want to use database modeling and hoping to write those changes back to SQL Server 2005 with visio, DON'T BUT IT......IT WILL NOT WORK

Pantone Plus Series GPG003 ESSENTIALS ADVANCE, Eight-Guide Set Review

Pantone Plus Series GPG003 ESSENTIALS ADVANCE, Eight-Guide Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The new guides look good and will come in handy. It's good to see the swatches on coated and uncoated stock. The addition of Bridge on uncoated stock is a necessary tool, as inks change appearance between coated and uncoated stock. The New GEO guides has a good color range, check with your ink vendor or local print shop for availability before specifying a color for print. You need to know it's going to be available.
The digital version of the color libraries have not been added to the design software (at this time (Sept 2010)), to spec one of the GEO colors, a similar spot color would be chosen, and clear instructions need to be provided in order to make sure the wrong color is not used.
The CMYK libraries are completely new color formulas. They do not match the previous set of CMYK swatches and DO NOT invalidate the previously booked color swatches, it expands the range. So hold on to that older set of process swatches, they will come in handy.
The solid set that was included on matte paper was left out. For the most part, I have no complaints here. In reality, matte paper is not used often in the print shop I work in. It's more expensive, subject to availability, and the ink can take longer to dry. My reason for wanting to hold on to the matte samples, is to have a printed sample to show to the customer. Most of the time when someone tells me they want a matte paper, they mean an uncoated stock. Matte paper has a dull coating, with the dull coating, comes a light shine (not high glossy shine). A true 100# matte stock feels thinner, compared to a 100# uncoated stock. So why are people getting matte and uncoated paper confused?
Features: The process swatches have CMYK color bars above the formulas, making it easier to define the color break down for the color. Three features were taken out the solid libraries. The four dots that suggest a color converts to CMYK fairly well. So that a company that has a specific PMS solid color can spec out a CMYK formula and get close to the same color. The three circles that suggest a color converts to RGB faily well, for the same reason, getting the company colors to close to the print collateral on the internet. The last feature to be taken out was the parts list. Parts have been replaced strictly by percentages. Parts, percentages, same thing, when it comes right down to it. Some people who mix ink see parts better than percentages when mixing small quantities. PMS 187: 12 parts warm red, 4 parts rub. red and 1 part black (percentages 70.6, 23.5 and 5.9) If mixing a pound, or half a pound, each part could be an ounce or half ounce. The total mix would be an ounce over a pound or half ounce over half a pound. Removing the parts breakdown, removes the parts to ounces comparison reference. Print shops are going to be holding on to the books that give a parts breakdown. You can't just generate a list that says 5.9% is one ounce, PMS 1767 is 1 part 032 red and 15 parts transparent white, the percentage break down on the red is 6.2%.
The color swatches are a designer's friend, don't design without them. I think the digital versions of the color books should have been updated the same time the printed samples were released. Because there are going to be designer and print shops holding on to the older sets, I think this should have been marketed as a companion to the previous versions of the Pantone Essentials sets.

Wacom Techno Cintiq 21UX 21-Inch Interactive Pen Display PC Tablet With Pen and Software Review

Wacom Techno Cintiq 21UX 21-Inch Interactive Pen Display PC Tablet With Pen and Software
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're expecting a perfect replacement for pencil and paper then you're bound to be disappointed. The technology is not perfect, but the Cintiq is more intuitive to use than a traditional graphics tablet. I still do most drawing/sketching on paper, but for painting and 3d sculpting, the hands-on approach on the Cintiq is quite welcome. I undo strokes far less and have a better connection with what I'm doing and how it's affecting the image.
If you're a hobbyist then it would be wise to investigate the Intuos or Bamboo line of tablets first. I use both a regular Intuos tablet and the Cintiq at work and home routinely and find they have their strengths for different tasks. Obviously, you can get amazing results with a regular graphics tablet alone and you shouldn't buy the Cintiq with it in mind that it will automagically make you a better artist. However, it helps my productivity and is a refreshing way to work. The benefit to more ably focus on what you're doing rather than how you're doing it is difficult to quantify, but that's what the Cintiq sets out to do and does it well.
A lot is made of the hefty price tag, but considering you get a very large monitor (which, by the way, in terms of visual quality is better than most regular LCD monitors) and built in capabilities of a large graphics tablet, it's not a bad deal. I use it as my primary monitor for general computer usage as well.

Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Pen Tablet (Academic Version) Review

Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Pen Tablet (Academic Version)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Works like it should, use a HP Envy, I7 Pentium, 1 terrabyte of space, 8 gigs memory w/ SD flash formatted to be Readyboosted (2 gigs extra RAM). So with that set-up, the thing works well, just like it's supposed to. The only complaint is that you do have to enable it each time by plugging it in, this might be because I'm on a laptop and it disables the touchpad when it does this. Also, like all bluetooth devices, if you are using one bluetooth device, it will interfere with others. So follow the instructions and turn off all other bluetooth devices or you will get interference.
I had no problem doing the installation and thus far, no problems using it. A word of warning though. This is an advanced tool meant for people who do serious drawing. I use it for web design and only spend maybe an hour or two actually drawing, then the rest is spent working in php/html/css etc. Friends I have who do this for 8 to 10 hours a day tend to complain that you need a lot of replacement parts, thus far, I'm not having any problems.
Also, this is an advanced device. Not to be snarky, but the first user clearly had no idea what he was buying or why he/she would need it. Don't get this because you think it's a cool device to have, because it has a steep learning curve and you will have to use it for quite a while to understand and configure it properly. If you're more old-school and prefer to do the outlines and then upload the sketch into a computer, the tablet does not feel like a real sketchpad, and even changing the pens out, none of them really simulate a good graphite pencil. So this is a tool for someone who likes working in digital media, and in my case, likes to boost their computer out through the HDMI port and look at what they're working on in big screen.
If you are really curious about how to maximize its effectiveness, check out Kelbytraining.com and look up their video on using the Wacom4.

Wacom Cintiq 12WX 12-Inch Pen Display Review

Wacom Cintiq 12WX 12-Inch Pen Display
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are good things, many people have listed them. But for $1000, it should be much better. Here are a list of the shortcomings that are not excusable for this price:
-Poor viewing angles. Wacom says you should use the color profiles that come with the display as it has been properly calibrated at the factory. And yes, color is perfect. At least Hue and Saturation. Verified with ColorSync advanced setup. But if the brightness and contrast changes if you move your head, well, it isn't accurate, is it? I assumed that this 12.1" display was going to be higher quality than the crappy displays you get in a MacBook or thin Windows Laptop. Wrong. Same horrible viewing angles and hot spots. Basically a cheep laptop monitor in a Wacom case.
-Poor tracking. Wacom is the standard. Supposedly this is based on an Intuos pad. But Wacom gives 2 points of calibration. That's right, 2 points. Upper left, lower right. That means that if you move the pen along the line drawn between those points, it's calibrated. But not in the lower left of upper right. Not at all. Any professional product should have at minimum 5 points of calibration. 4 corners and center. 2 is what my GameBoy DS has, and frankly, it tracks better and faster. Wacom needs to improve their driver and they could accomplish this. And of course since you can't touch the bottom 5 pixels of the screen, good luck if you had your dock hidden down there (Mac only). I have to have the dock squished to the side, which makes it harder to use, especially with a dual monitor setup.
-Lots of cables and the brick. It works well, but still. With all that cabling and hardware, you'd think they could provide a DVI/VGA passthrough port.
-1st grader pen. The grip pen is just not logical. No artists tools I use have that shape. Pencils, pens, brushes, all are thinner. I am used to sketching with Colorase and drafting pencils, so I won't be using this grip pen. Can I get used to it? Sure, probably, but then it will be more awkward to switch back and forth between the Cintiq and real paper and pencil. I ordered the classic pen, which should arrive in a few days. But that's another $50 to spend, when it should have either been the default pen provided, or BOTH pens should have been provided.
-Software. They have been downgrading the bundles over time with their tablets, but at $1000, we should get more than Painter Light and Photoshop Light, since the vast, vast VAST majority of Cintiq customers already own Photoshop. I mean, you don't spend $1000 on a Cintiq without already owning a full version of Photoshop, so what value is Elements to anyone? Dump it and provide more brush plugins and the Classic pen instead. And a full version of Painter would be nice.
Everything I list is fixable after the fact except for the LCD quality. Bundle can be improved, driver can be upgraded to fix the tracking issues, classic pen can be included. And a "rev B" could include a higher quality LCD screen with a professional viewing angle, at least vertically. Or, if they don't want to fix these problems, cut the price by $400 and it's less offensive... ;)
All that said, there's still nothing like drawing directly on the screen with a pressure sensitive, high resolution pen. It's a great concept and a decent product that could be great.

Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8-Inch Pen Tablet Review

Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8-Inch Pen Tablet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spend about 10 hours a day working in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and other design related programs including 3D Studio Max. I've been using a Wacom tablet for about six years now, and I love it. It would be impossible for me to create the designs and illustrations that I do without my Wacom. As an artist and designer, I used traditional mediums for years, and then spent another couple of years trying to figure out how to use a mouse in a way that would permit me to create quality images and designs on the computer quickly and in a way that resembled traditional methods. The Wacom tablet has been my solution and the solution of dozens of my colleagues. I use the old Intuos at home, and I use the Intuos 3 at work. The new Intuos features a USB connection that permits hot-swappable, on-the-go design. Also, the new Intuos pens are much more comfortable to hold that the old plastic pens because of the rubber coated grip. The tip on the pen seem much more "springy" and responsive. The pressure sensitivity is amazing and allows me the complete control over the virtual medium that I am handling (airbrush, pencil, ink, paint, etc). Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash are all designed to work with the pressure sensitive pens, and the level of control is amazing. Photoshop's new custom brush palette, combined with the Wacom tablet, permit me to create custom brushes to simulate the appearance of color pencil, pastels, and chalk in such a realistic manner that it's difficult to discern what is real and what is digital. Both of the tablets I own have the 6x8 drawing surface, which I find to be an adequate size for me to accomplish all of my design-work and illustrations. It also is a convenient size to fit into my laptop bag (outer dimensions are about 10"x13"). I absolutely love my Wacom, and I'm ashamed that I didn't place a review for this superior product before now. Several of my coworkers and friends have purchased less expensive versions from competitors, but have regretted the purchase and have switched to Wacom. I was helping a coworker select a Wacom tablet for her desk this morning (as a replacement for another brand) when I decided to write this review for the Wacom tablet. Bottom line for the Wacom 6x8: convenient size, excellent pressure sensitivity, durable construction, excellent value for the price. I would consider this a must-have for any serious digital illustrator or designer.

When I was looking up for a replacement for my Bamboo drawing pad, I managed to come across this product. I decided to get this because of the much larger reading pad size. When it arrived in the mail, I quickly opened it to find the product being better than what I have expected! There were these various of different notify buttons on the pad that you can actually program them to open up any program or use a command in a program, like the undo button in Adobe! Overall, I am very satisfied wtih the product and that it was well worth the price!

Wacom Intuos4 Medium Pen Tablet (Academic Version) Review

Wacom Intuos4 Medium Pen Tablet (Academic Version)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been a self-employed graphic designer since 1996. I bought my first Wacom tablet in 1997. I used it until I replaced it with a larger Intuos2 in 2001 (although the first one still worked well).
My Intuos2 still works great but it has a serial port plug (that I had to adapt to USB) and is no longer compatible to one of my computers. I hated to stop using it since it has been tried and true for so many years but I made the leap and bought the Intuos4.
I am not disappointed. This is a sleek tablet with plenty of room for moving around. Wacom has changed the aspect ratio to accommodate a 16:9 screen - although my older Intuos didn't do this, it was not really an issue.
It installed on Windows very easily, no glitches anywhere.
The tablet is thinner than previous models, very sleek and easy to rest your hand on. The pen has a nice weight and feel and I use the pen buttons for double click and right click. It is just second nature to me.
There is great set-up software that allows you to control every aspect of your pen from click speed to pressure sensitivity, pen angle, button controls, etc. You can adapt how it responds to many programs.
It is adaptable to left or right handedness. My old tablet needed a power supply and this is USB powered.
The USB cord is long enough that if you like to sit back to use your tablet, there is plenty of give.
The express keys on the side are not a big thrill to me but so far I do like the touch ring, especially for scrolling or zooming in or out.
I'm sure, given a little more time, I'll find good shortcuts for the express keys, which can be customized, but for now, my keyboard shortcuts are the quickest.
I use my tablet and pen exclusively. I can't stand using a mouse and find it hard to understand (with no offense to anyone!)why any graphic designer would use a mouse when the pen and tablet give so much precision and control. For me, having a pen in my hand is much more comfortable and my hand cramps up if I have to use a mouse. It is easier to grab one pixel at a time with a pen than to try and position a mouse cursor.
The bundled software is a bonus (you get Wacom Brushes, Color Efex Pro 3.0 and your choice of two of the following: Sketchbook Express 2010, Corel Sketch Pad, Adobe Photoshop Elements for Windows or Elements for Mac.
If you have never used a pen/tablet, you really need to give it plenty of time to get used to it. I believe that once you can get past that learning curve, you will love it. It is like learning a new control pad for a video game, you have to train your brain to move your hand the right way while not looking at it.
The last thing I need to add is that Wacom is a wonderful company to deal with. For me, the quality of product is top notch, the customer support is great, not that I've needed it!

UPDATE FOR WINDOWS 7
I purchased a new computer running Windows 7. The Intuos4 works great. I had no installation problems or difficulties.
AND when running it on Windows 7, it starts up a Windows based program utilizing PC tablet input. PC tablet is resident on Windows 7 and automatically runs when a pen is installed. It has handwriting recognition and will fill in forms as you write on the tablet - a very natural thing since you are holding a pen. In other words, if you are somewhere (online or not) where a field is waiting for text - letters or numbers - a little keyboard icon shows up. If you tap on it, a yellow field opens up and is waiting for you to hand write, in script or print, what you want in that field. It is very forgiving for sloppy writing and if it makes a mistake there are buttons to click to correct the mistakes. In other words, you don't have to drop the pen to type in a field and then pick the pen back up.
Personally, I found the pull-out menu annoying after awhile so it can be turned off by going to Control Panel and choosing PC Tablet. The options for turning it off are in there.

ASUS Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Netbook (Hot Pink) Review

ASUS Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Netbook (Hot Pink)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did a lot of research and waited a long time before buying this Netbook; I totally love the gorgeous look and finish, the ports are hidden under covers. Reasons I selected this model: the New Intel Atom N450, 2GB of memory (vs. 1 GB factory installed for most Netbooks), Win7 Home Prem. (vs. Starter Ed for other Netbooks), Wireless N, Bluetooth (I use a BT Wireless mouse), 1.3 MP webcam... Etc. Overall it is a very well equipped, very light and portable Netbook.
The screen is sharp and easy to read even outside (not under direct sun light).
The keyboard is really comfortable and easy to use.
Absolutely love the Express Gate, it is a stand-alone operating system from ASUS that boots up in seconds and provides the essential appz such as File Explorer, internet browser, photo viewer... in seconds I am connected to the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot and good to go.
The Cons are:
1)The most important thing for the Netbook is the battery life; on this one... it sucks! Better explain in numbers, Watching a movie from the Hard Drive with Bluetooth and Wireless both OFF and battery set on power saver: ~3 Hrs, Streaming video online with Wireless ON & BT OFF and battery set on balanced: ~2.5 Hrs, normal internet surfing (No Stream) with Wireless ON & BT OFF and battery set on power saver: ~4 Hrs, Video chat with Wireless ON & BT ON and battery set on balanced: ~2 Hrs, playing light games (like Luxor 3) full screen with BT and Wireless both OFF and battery set on power saver: ~2 Hrs. I haven't yet tried to run it on High Performance battery setting for a long time!! The battery never lasted for 4.5 Hrs or more no matter what I turn off and on which settings the battery is; the 6 Hrs battery life is inaccurately advertised!
2)Surprisingly it is not very responsive, I was expecting way better than that! I understand that it is designed for web surfing and light applications and this is exactly what I'm using it for, if I stream a video on YouTube and I have 3 more tabs open in IE for email, news, blogs... the video breaks up really bad! Close a couple of tabs and it works fine! I mean for a 1.66 GHz dual core CPU and 2 Gigs of RAM you think it can do better. Now the performance significantly improve when it's connected to AC power and set the battery to high performance but the Netbook should be a portable device, if I have to stay plugged to AC power, I would rather prefer to use my 17" laptop!
3)The 1024x600 resolution is not compatible with a lot of websites and applications, seriously... the manufactures has to get out of this box, 1280x720 is totally doable in this screen size!
I would still recommend this Netbook but purchasing an additional battery is a must, which by the way I wasn't able to get an extra battery, I've been looking since the day I placed the order till the time I'm writing this review, I have searched the internet without luck and contacted ASUS several times regarding this and they keep telling me that it will be available in Amazon and some other websites in the near future... I'm still waiting.
