(More customer reviews)I am jazzed about this machine. For the price point, you can't go wrong. I shopped HP, Compaq, Gateway, Toshiba and Dell before picking this laptop. As a former network administrator, I didn't think I could afford a ThinkPad/Lenovo. I was always pleased with these machines when I bought them for my company, but they were always so expensive - even on an IT budget. This machine fits the bill in both features and price! Just read other reviews and you will find other laptops:
- have a problematic touchpad
- lack expansion slots
- don't have modems
- don't have enough USB ports
- don't read and write DVDs
- don't have memory card slots
- do not have finishes that are robust
- don't have microphones or web cams
- don't have enough memory to run Vista
- are not Intel processers
- are not dual core
- do not have high definition audio
- have Vista home basic
This PC has it all:
- 3 Gb of DDR2 677 MHz ram
- An Intel Dual core processor
- A modem
- High Definition audio
- A great touchpad (no glossy stuff that is unresponsive)
- An express card slot
- A built in mic and network cam
- 4 USB ports
- Wireless (802.11 b/g) and wired Ethernet connectivity
- A memory card reader
- A DVD player and writer
- A top notch display
- Headphone and mic jacks
- Vista Home Premium - not Vista Home Basic
- a 15 pin VGA monitor connector
- a really solid build (no flexing or "cracking" when you pick it up)
And the BEST - a Window's 7 upgrade for free if you buy it in the right time frame. What else do you want from a laptop purchase? Let me add that it Syncs with my Windows Mobil 5.0 phone after a Microsoft download of the 6.1 software for Vista - without a hitch. It plays DVDs flawlessly. It plays Netflix streaming video perfectly. If there was an HDMI port and Blu-Ray I would be in heaven. From a former XP Nazi, this is quite a glowing review of a Vista machine.
Be sure to check the specifications on other Lenovo laptops. Some have smaller hard drives, less memory and Vista Basic. You do not get an upgrade to Window's 7 from Vista basic.
Happy computing!
