Bought QNAP NAS unit after some research. I have a lot of video files and photos scattered in several hard drives and it was time to organize. Unit arrived promptly and well packed. Hard drive installation was simple. Set as RAID 5 with 4 Seagate 1.5T drives. Using NAS software was able to easily upload video files under 2G but it has that size limit using browser based software(support explanation). Had to upgrade firmware which was a relatively simple process. After calling support was guided through process of mapping NAS on network as drive where I can drag and drop any file size. Support was quite good and prompt even performing remote hardware adjustments. If documentation had been better I could have probably been able to do this myself. Unit kept ejecting one drive from RAID (which required long rebuild process several times) which after some research appeared to be a problem with the Seagate drives(?). After another support fix this has stopped happening for now. Adding a 5th drive to RAID was not possible with their software(although it's supposed to)and again prompt support remote hardware reconfiguration resolved issue. This part I don't think the average user could pull off. So unit seems to be good but for poor documentation and apparent software issues which were fixed with good support. I will not get rid of my old drives (good advice for anyone) until I feel more confident with unit.
