Don't buy cheap KVM extenders, you'll be glad you didn't. Everything Gefen produces is of high quality and tuned for actual A/V production work, instead of some weak picture that only a server admin could stand to look at all day.

The Gefen CAT5-1000 requires just one CAT5 cable to transmit video, audio and control signals to the remote workstation. It essentially bundles the signals together before, during and after transmission so that cabling is reduced while reliable signal transmission is achieved. This is the ideal solution for anyone who desires an effective method to extend their workstation anywhere within 330-feet from the computer, utilizing a sender and receiver methodology to connect the extended workstation to the computer. Simply connect the sender unit to your computer using the cables provided. Then connect the receiver unit to the computer's keyboard, monitor and mouse at the remote location, and finally connect the sender unit to the receiver unit. Both the sender and the receiver units must be connected to a power supply. When fully powered and operational, the units efficiently extend video, audio and control signals. CAT5 cable(s) sold seperately.Package Includes: Sender Unit, Receiver Unit, One 6ft VGA cable (PC/Black), One 6ft USB cable, One 6ft Audio cable, Two 5VDC Transformer.

IOGEAR KVM PS/2 Console Extender GCE250 (Black) Review

We wanted to share a PC with internet access for a classroom. PC is in the back, projector is close to the front. Had to be able to control the PC from the front of the classroom next to the projector, without changing the PC workstation. Cat5 cable connecting the two units made this simple and reliable. I wish there were more pictures of this product, as it comes with two boxes: one sits close to the PC, the other close to the remote access point. Each box also comes with an AC adapter, so you need an outlet for this. We grounded the unit by the PC to the PC case. There was no practical way to ground the remote access. So far no problems. The boxes also have a local/remote switch, but also appear to switch automatically depending which end is used. Works fine with PS/2 optical mouse and keyboard.
