This was my first receiver that I have ever purchased and am very pleased overall (4 months of ownership). Set up was a breeze and the auto calibration (MCACC) works like a charm. Originally I had cheap speakers hooked up to the receiver (still shopping for quality speakers) and the sound out of them was horrible... Well, I ran the auto calibration and it made my cheap speakers sound spectacular!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing and was starting to wonder if spending hundreds on speakers was going to be worth it. I have listed some pros and cons below. The only reason I did not give the receiver 5 stars is due to the cons that I listed which seem a lot because I tried to explain them in detail. Overall I would defiantly buy this receiver again due to the fact most of the cons listed could be fixed with a software upgrade and a new remote.
System:
Receiver-Pioneer VSX-21TXH, Monitor-Samsung LN46B-530, Center Channel -Polk TSi CS20, Fronts-Polk TSi 200s, Surrounds-Polk Monitor-30s, Subwoofer-? (Came from a computer system 300-W, 8in. woofer)
Pros
1.The auto MCACC calibration (microphone included!)
2.Price!! Buy buying from a non-authorized Pioneer Elite dealer off of Amazon I paid half the price my friend paid when buying the VSx-23 receiver from best-buy. The dealer also had a warranty and good customer service.
3.Being able to assign inputs
4.The amplifier power (Cranked up the volume in a 5.1 channel setup to uncomfortable sound levels and did not notice any distortion
5.Looks, I like the glossy front....well as long as it is kept clean, smudges are very noticeable
6.FM tuner works great!!! All stations come in very clearly. I know that some of the receivers I had listened to in the past need huge outdoor antennas to pick up stations. I just used the antenna that came with the receiver (single wire) and now get all stations in my area
7.Video up scaling. Hugh difference from using the TVs up scaling.
8.Inputs, Had all the inputs I needed excluding the third component input (Wii, PS2, DVD, VHS, HTPC, iPOD)
Cons
1.I wish it had one more component input (I still have to use my component switch)
2.Remote is a little hard to use due to the location of the buttons
3.When trying to change audio parameters when listening to a source the silver round button stops working after one push. This problem is only intermittent and has been noticed when multiple sources are selected. If your trying to change the channel level of a speaker you have to push the buttons (receiver then audio parameter then the circular Arrows) This must be done for each arrow button push. Switching to another source corrects this problem but then you can't tell how your modifications effect the sound in real-time.
4.Cheap speaker binding posts. Not really a major con but before I had purchased banana plugs for my speakers I used the post and screwed them down. I thought I was going to break them.
5.I wish the connection to the computer was a USB instead of a RS-232. I have still not connected it to my HTPC but will once I get the right cable
6.TV control seems to only work when I push the TV source button on the remote even though the remote has a region of buttons dedicated to the TV specifically (Was told that I probably just have the incorrect TV code in my remote but I still haven't gotten to correct)
7.No HD Radio, I didn't know how much I would miss this feature until I bought a receiver and now listen to the radio hours each day.
8.Receiver has to be reset when using my Home Theater PC that is connected through a HDMI cable. The receiver does not send the signal to the monitor after I turn on the PC until after I switch the receiver to HDMI source the turn off the receiver and then turn it back on. If I don't do this then the receiver just says its looking for a source. This could be an issue with my video card (ATI4650) but I'm not sure.

I just installed my screen two days ago. Because of the size, I did need another person to help hold it. It took us less than 5 minutes to install it. The screen movement is very slow but still extended in less than a minute. The slow movement made it very easy for me to stop at the desired location. I am using a Mitsubishi HC1500 projector (HD). The picture is awesome and exceeds my expectations. I inquired about other screens at a nationally owned theater store. In order to get the same features as this screen (remote, trigger, etc), it was going to cost around $1000. The money that I saved is helping pay for all of the beer that my neighbors are now drinking while watching the games!
The shipment was quick and arrived defect free.
My only complaint is that it took me a lot of searching to figure out how to connect the trigger. The trigger function allows the screen to automatically drop/rise when the projector is powered on/off. The included trigger connects into the screen. In order to connect it into a trigger capable LCD projector, you only need to use two wires from a Cat 5 cable (the cable has to be purchased separately). Those two wires can be connected in to a 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug (which can be purchased at a store that sells radio equipment).
Update on 8/11/09:
The trigger doesn't work 100% of the time. So I disconnected it and just leave the screen down. I do not have the screen mounted in a location where it needs to be up.

I bought this screen for our home theater after reading many reviews of the major brands (Stewart, Dalite, etc.). Someone on a message board recommended this brand (which I'd never heard of before). The price was so much lower (about 1/3 the price) that I figured it was worth a shot. I'm very happy I decided to buy this. My wife and I put it together and had it hanging on the wall in about an hour and a half, working at a leisurely pace. The screen surface (always under tension) is perfectly taut and the black velvet surround looks great. The first couple days it smelled like a giant beach ball in the theater, but that's to be expected and it soon went away. I'm very happy with this purchase and I've recommended to other people already.

Elite Screens ER100WH1 Sable Frame Series Screen Review

I was putting together a nice home theater area in the basement for the family. I did a lot of researching on what screens to buy. I am no expert by any means when it comes to home theater components but this Elite screen really impressed me.
It was easy to put together. It took maybe 45 minutes and everything snapped into place with ease. I thought stretching the screen might become a little of a chore but it was simple and straight forward. The frame (covered in black velvet) screwed together with the enclosed allen wrench. Mounting on the wall was a breeze. Attached the brackets to studs in the wall, level of course and the screen sits right on the brackets. We were watching movies by that evening.
The picture was excellent using our Optoma HD20. The screen has a gain of 1.1 and gaming and Blu Ray movies were sharp and bright on this white matte screen. I realize the projector is an important part but the screen also adds to the experience and this Elite screen combines great performance and ease of installation.

Elite Screens VMAX2 Electric projection Screen, 16:9 Aspect Ratio-120in (Max White) Review

This screen is an amazing bargain, and truly puts the "theater" in home theater. We were trying to decide between the 100" and the 120". If your room can manage the 120", go for it. It's fantastic.
This is solid and easy to install, and the opening mechanism feels stable and smooth. The material is even, no creases or waves, and colors show up crisply without any issues.
One great thing to note is that this screen is compatible with the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen, so you can set up your Harmony remote to automatically open your screen when you turn everything on. If you don't have a Harmony Remote, there's also an optional wireless trigger out that you can get from Elite Screens and hook up to your projector, so that when you turn your projector on, it sends a signal to the screen that opens it.
You can get more expensive screens with tension, higher gains, or made of acoustic mesh so that your speakers can go right behind it, but this is a perfect entry-level price that does not feel or look entry-level at all.

The screen arrived quickly and was well packaged with the screen material wrapped around a plastic tube and inserted inside another plastic tube (4" heavy plastic drain pipe). The aluminium frame is quick to put together, it comes in 6 pieces, the sides are one piece and the top and bottom are in two pieces. The top and bottom frame pieces are joined together with small shaped pieces that insert into the extruded frame and are screwed in place through each side of the frame, works well and makes a very neat and strong join between the frame pieces. There are 90 degree corner pieces that insert into the end of each frame and make it very easy to fit the screen together, make sure you measure the diagonals to check everything is square before tightening all the screws. Once the frame is together it is very easy to fit the screen material, there are 6 plastic rods that have to be pushed into a pocket around the edge of the screen material (2 on each on the top and bottom of the screen and 1 on each side)then you stretch the material to fit the rods within a channel in the frame. Plastic clips are then used all round the frame to hold the rod in the frame channel. It produces a nice tight screen with no visible sags or creases.
This was the first frame I have assembled but I had it ready to mount on the wall within 45 minutes and I was taking it slowly! Mounting it on the wall is easy - the supplied brackets work well and it is easy to lift the assembled screen and hook it onto them.
I have the screen mounted in a dedicated media room and am using a Panasonic PT-AE3000U projector, this screen works very well and gives a nice sharp, bright image with good colour reproduction and the felt covered frame is excellent at absorbing any light from the projector that over laps the screen edges. I would highly recommend this screen, far more expensive screens might give you a very slightly better image but you would have to have them side by side to notice!
Ignore the 1 star review above - the dimensions given by Amazon are the screen viewing dimensions and do not include the frame, the dimensions to the the edges of the frame are 109.4" x 63.4" check out the manufacturers website for more information (which would be pretty sensible before purchasing any product, finding it didn't fit then giving it 1 star reviews....)
