(More customer reviews)My music collection (1500 disc, 300 lp's) has been digitally converted using iTunes with error correction and 16/48 sampling into AIFF files. I play the collection using Pure Music Media Player which is quite a cut above the iTunes player.
I have what was at one time Yamaha's flagship AV Receiver (Z1). This DAC makes the music come alive. I can close my eyes and hear the performers as if they were in the same room. Got mine directly through the manufacturer but I have never had an issue with amazon in the many years and purchases I have made with them. The world of digital to analog converters is a very confusing one when you read the many product reviews.
Hearing is the best thing to believing and this DAC has made a believer out of me. In the sub-1000 price range this is a clear winner.

The M1 DAC will lock on to any S/PDIF signal at 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz, and the input sampling frequency is then displayed on the front panel. It employs a pair of 24-bit Delta-Sigma DACs in a dual differential alignment with 8x over-sampling, so you'll enjoy true upsampling to 24-bit at 192kHz!
The M1 has vanishingly low distortion, typically less than 0.005% across the band. Frequency response is ruler-flat. Jitter is extremely low. And the noise ratio is outstanding - it's one of the quietest DACs in the world, regardless of price. Look at the M1 DAC's total measurements and compare them to any DAC up to ten times its price, and you'll see that, on balance, the M1 DAC is equal to or better than any of them!
