(More customer reviews)I had been following the OLPC, Netbook, Classmate, Netablet movement with great interest, but hadn't pushed the buy button until I saw that the Intel Powered Convertible Classmate PC was available from Mirus/Target via Amazon. I bought this for the 3 year-old since he's always fighting with his sister over use of her laptop. First impression is that it's small (it's a netbook, not a laptop). Configuration didn't seem to complete correctly initially so the auto screen rotation didn't work until after a reboot. Everything seems to work ok, it's a very dense little package so it seems a little heavy for it's size. I think I would prefer Windows 7 with Ink, but I haven't really tried using the MyScript that comes preinstalled with XP Home. I think it will be really cool with the right software installed.
After playing with it for a week, it's still pretty cool, but the autorotate is a little buggy. Sometimes the autorotate seems to get stuck needs to be disabled and reset to normal orientation. The three year old dropped it on a hard floor and dented the stylus openning making it a tight fit, but it still works ok. Installed one CD rom game by copying to SD card, but need to find a good solution to have multiple CDROM games playable using ISO images.
