(More customer reviews)The thing I like about this shredder is that is chews up your papers into rice - sized bits. And I am not talking about fat, plump, Uncle Ben's fertilizer grown rice, but rather small, broken, undernourished bits of rice like you get at the discount store. Strip shredders, or 95% of the crosscut shredders out there that make relatively large cuts are just not secure. A determined person can piece those big pieces back together. With this shredder you get Level 4 security which means no-one is going to be able to piece your micro confetti from this machine back together - ever, no matter how many patient crooks go to work on it. It is the next best thing to turning your papers into dust.
The second thing I like about this shredder is it feels substantial (it is heavy but on wheels which is good). And I very much like the bright blue led indicator lights - very snazzy!
The third thing is that it is quite quiet compared to most shredders. It is definitely not silent, but then it is also definitely not a raucus buzzsaw like most other shredders are.
The fourth thing is that is not a large sized shredder, but it is likewise not a desk-top sized one either - it is inbetween which makes it a manageable but not overly small size for my home office.
The only part that feels a bit cheap is the plastic bin that pulls out from the front side to empty the microshreds. If they want to do one more thing to make this feel like a high-end shredder it would be to invest just a few dollars more into making the waste bin a bit more substantial and have it feel like it really slides in and out with precision.
The other minor criticism is that you need to push the paper down into the maw an inch or more before the machine grabs it and starts chewing it. It would be nicer for me if it were just a tad easier to get the machine to grab the paper more quickly and without pushing it in so far. We have an expensive commercial sized Level 4 shredder at work and it grabs paper within the first quarter of an inch so I know it can be done.
Overall I am very happy with my new shredder and I think I made the best choice of a well made and reliable shredder that should last me many years. I always do a fair amount of research on my consumer choices and I feel that this is the best bang for the buck in this price range. I recommend it to anyone who understands the value of having a microshredder over the usual less secure big chunk or strip shredders out there.
