(More customer reviews)I bought this to use for online schooling for the next 2 years. I already have 2 older laptops but it didn't have the power I required to run all the apps and the speed to load everything. Since our other 2 laptops were top of the line when we got them, they have all the bells and whistles, now they're just slower. I didn't want to spend 700+ bucks again. This was a great alternative. Dell, not sure if I liked them so I didn't want to go there. HP/Compaq I liked but didn't want to go crazy spending again. Didn't want emachines, asus, or some other new company I haven't heard of before. This was the best bang for the buck! $399 for a triple core, webcam, 4g RAM, 500G HD, DL DVD drive.....I think that's pretty damn good. Also Acer bought out gateway about 3yrs ago if that matters. Cosmetically, definietly not as plain old Volvo looking like lenovos so that's a plus. HAHAHA
Cons: speaker is not so good, it's a single so it's very mono and not loud but what do you expect (my older laps had Altecs and Harmon)
Keyboard is a full with numericals, the buttons are not as solid feeling but it works and they didn't fly off yet. The touch pad is weirdly off to the left which is weird...I'm a righty, but I can learn to deal.
It is larger than you expect for a laptop, but i guess that's a plus or minus depending on how portable you want it.
If you not looking for fancy, this is it. It has enough extras to prove versatile but is basic enough. It is fast and has plenty storage. Considering the price, I really can't complain.
