(More customer reviews)I decided it was time to get rid of my 5 year old gaming desktop (Athlon 64 3000+, 1gb RAM, WindowsXP). It was simply too slow and used as much power as 2 or 3 Xbox 360s. So I did lots of research on the new processors and GPUs and settled on this computer.
I won't speak much about the speed of this computer because most everything these days is fast. I can burn CDs and watched HD Youtube at the same time, yeah most dual core computers can do that. But I will say that Windows7 is great! I skipped Vista so I'm not sure how much is the same but I am very very pleased with Windows7. But it is enough to say that this laptop will perform great at most anything you throw at it. I tried the Crysis demo and it selected "High" settings automatically. It ran ok on high but I cut most down to Medium. Not bad for a midrange lappy. On a side note the specs listed above are incorrect, the CPU speed in Windows shows 2.23ghz not 2.53ghz.
The battery life isn't quite what I thought it would be. It'll last about 3 hours on the high side. I know that is pretty good but I was expecting a little better. I suppose for the power it is alright
On the design side, it's a very stylish laptop. The area around the keybord is a dark brown which looks nice actually. It gives it a little visual pop. The keyboard itself is great, the keys feel good and are spaces correctly (unlike the new Gateways). The touch pad gestures work very well too. The only negative is that (for me) the touch pad is placed a little too far to the left so my palm touches it and moves the cursor around as I type sometimes. There is a palm auto recognition feature but I have not messed with it much. At this point it seems to not work very well.
The bottom like is that this laptop is fantastic. I like it much more than I thought I would. I would recommend it to anyone and if you are shopping for a laptop this is a great choice.
