I purchased this card as an upgrade from my Nvidia 9800GT. The GT was an EVGA card, and though I had owned a PNY card in the past that had performed well, I still was a bit wary because the overwhelming majority of people buy EVGA. I decided to go with PNY for a change and I am glad I did. The card installed easily and booted with no problems. I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia's website before the install, and that install went smoothly as well. The card scored a 7.8 in the Windows Experience rating. I'm not a heavy PC gamer, but I upgraded to this card so that I could do some more gaming on my machine, so I will try and update this review when I have more experience in that area. On thing to note is that you have to register the card in the first 90 days to get the lifetime warranty. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

HP Pavilion HDX 16t Premium Notebook Review

HP Pavilion HDX 16t Premium Notebook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm always wary when I read a product review that begins something like "I received my new (fill in name) yesterday and it's great!" A five star rating without a reasonable time to test things isn't something I put much trust in. So I have waited to review my HP HDX 16 laptop for two months of daily use. I'm very impressed with this HP, my first HP after three Dell laptops all of which were good performers.
Right out of the box I did have a problem with the Lightscribe DVD/CD. It was much noisier than I believed it should be and within a few days it first got intermittant, would play some times and not othertimes and in a couple of weeks it quit all together. A call to HP resulted in some things to try (refresh driver, reseat player etc) and when those failed an e-mail brought a prompt replacement and prepaid return shipping label. The replacement is quiet and works perfectly. Product support seems exceptional with HP, online support as well as telephone support with people who are not only patient but actually speak english! And they sound like it's their native language.
As to the HP HDX 16 it is certainly top of the line. Not cheap... but I think you get what you pay for. The screen is beautiful although highly reflective and you need to have a "quiet" background without any bright light behind you shining off the screen. DVDs look grand. When browsing the web if you have a page of print that is difficult to read because of size just hit crl + and enlarge to comfortable size. The built in Next-Gen Wireless is painless to setup and works fine. The 4GB memory runs Vista Ultimate (an optional upgrade with my machine but now I believe you will get Windows 7 for an OS) fast and trouble-free.
I bought the optional 9-cell battery and it runs about two hours of web surfing or e-mailing. I haven't tested the battery running a DVD movie. When I watch a movie I take the battery out (laptop is a lot lighter without the battery, weighs in about five pounds) and run off the power cord. The built in speakers are impressive for their size but when I watch a movie I use a
pair of Sony open ear headphones... very comfortable and they sound great. I watch opera so you know I'm fussy about the audio.
The Norton Internet Security I got with my HP HDX works nicely in the background. I like it better than the Trend Micro I have on my desktop. I got one year of Norton with the laptop and have extended it to three years. The machine comes with a darn clever fingerprint reader that surprises me with its reliability. And you can't seem to fool it by scanning a wrong finger. You can also enter a password and get to the desktop if you don't like the reader.
Sitting on my lap the unit runs reasonably cool and it is very quiet. I can hear the fan blowing if I listen for it but it will not bother you at all. One option I would recommend that I skipped: the back-lighted keyboard. If you are trying to type in dim light the handsome black on silver keys can be difficult to see.
To sum up my impression: if this HP HDX is in your budget range you will not be disappointed.

C330DN Digital Colorprinter 23/25PPM, 12 Review

C330DN Digital Colorprinter 23/25PPM, 12
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this printer after a search for an ideal color laser printer for home. My wife needs to print in color for her cirriculum and I need to print on both sides of the page to save weight when sending out mailings. This printer does both and does them both well.
In case this is your first time to the rodeo, LED printers are like laser printers, but instead of using a laser beam and a mirror, there is a fixed array of LEDs which perform the same function. The claim is that this will reduce maintenance, but I have never heard of anyone claiming "well, my laser printer was great, but then the laser died." or "well, if only the mirror assembly hadn't broken in my laser printer..." - no, usually it's something to do with the drum, the fuser, constant jams, toner costs, etc. So I'm not sure LED printers are better than laser printers, but I took the plunge anyway.
So, about this printer. So it uses a grid of LEDs. In practice, the resolution is a little worse than a laser printer, but 600x1200 dpi is plenty respectable for print work. I haven't even considered the resolution at any point in operating it.
The paper passes through a singular path, meaning that it doesn't really change print speed based on whether it's b/w or color, which is nice. I was surprised to print a full-page color photo in the same time it takes to print a text file. Generally speaking, that's not common (try that on an inkjet!)
The printer comes with 1000-page toner cartridges, which are "starter" sized. Price per page is not significantly cheaper than an inkjet, after you factor in the costs of toner, but I've always found inkjet printers to be frustrating to deal with, for print speed, frequency of ink changes, dried cartridge nozzles, noisy feed/print mechanisms, and so on. So, this is a lot better than an inkjet in my book, but not for economy printing.
The duplexing is the standard "cheaper" method that requires the page to partially come out of the printer, then it sucks it back in for a second go-round. Nicer workgroup printers keep the document entirely internalized until it has printer on both sides. Still, it works fine and there's plenty of room for it to do its thing and keep all the pages in order. It's a great feature to have when you need it.
The color quality isn't as good as an inkjet. If you want to print photos, you really would be better off simply ordering them online (just upload your jpegs, and so on) and getting them printed on $20,000+ professional printers for pennies. I think a 4x6 photo print is less than 10 cents, so buying an inkjet is just a waste of time in my book. Anyway, this printer is acceptable for all display/presentation work. It's just not color accurate. They package software to attempt to correct the color, but this is unlikely to get it to "professional photo printer" levels anyway.
Black and white is great, as it should be. No complaints there.
No paper jams to report, and the whole printer seems easy to clear if there was a problem.
There is no wireless networking, only a 100mbit (no gigabit, but why would you need it?) ethernet port and a USB port.
Networking is simple and you can point a browser to the IP address to get status and even submit jobs manually if you don't have a print driver installed (it lets you upload a pdf and print it out). Having a networked printer is great so you don't need to have a computer on (though mine is on all the time anyway) if you want others to have access to printing.
Power consumption is like other laser printers. It's significant when warming up, not too bad when printing, and very low when idle. Warm up time is only a few seconds, which is great.
The printer is a bit heavy/bulky, but it's about the size of a larger all-in-one fax/copy/print machine (though it doesn't fax/copy). It weighs about 55lbs.
Overall, I'd give it 5 stars. It fit my needs perfectly.

Philips SpeechMike Pro 5274 - Trackball - wired - USB Review

Philips SpeechMike Pro 5274 - Trackball - wired - USB
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am using this microphone to dictate medical records along with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I found an immediate improvement in accuracy when I began using this microphone. I also feel that it fits very comfortably in the hand. The programmable buttons are handy time-savers. In fact, you can really utilize these more than I realized because each button is really 3 buttons in one as they are programmable for holding CTRL and SHIFT as well. They can activate function keys, macros, or type text macros. The trackball is not my favorite way to navigate my screen, but it is there if you don't feel like reaching for a mouse. It has given me an immediate boost in productivity and has made dictation more enjoyable. In fact, I am dictating this review, and have not needed to correct its output at all.
My only criticism is that it has a rather light, cheap feel in the hand. Also, the attractive red light that looks pretty on the advertisement (around the mic receiver and also illuminating the trackball) almost never comes on. Its an indicator light for recording, but it seems to only work with the recording test-program which the microphone comes with. It's a program which you will never use. The indicator lights never activate while dictating with Dragon. It's a minor criticism.
Summary: Nice mic, quality output, good ergonomics and convenient buttons. If it had a nicer "quality-feel" in the hand and indicator lights which worked with Dragon I would give it five stars easily.

Don't buy this item.
IronKey does not update bugs in the software or firmware of this device.
This is unbelievable considering the price, but that is the way it is.
If you can't find another secure USB stick that you like then you'll want to come up with the money for the personal level device and not the basic. I had been recommending this to friends and family until I realized that mine would never be updated. The problem is that I get the blue screen of death on my Windows 7 box every now and then when locking the IronKey with no hope of it ever being fixed.

Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multifunction Center with Wireless Interface and Duplex
Average Reviews:

I have waited many many years for the perfect all in one COLOR LASER....and this is it + more! I bought mine from a local store and have had it about a week. It comes in a huge box, but don't worry, this MFC is large but not too large compared to the other Brother mono laser all-in-ones (of which I have owned three over the years). The print quality is EXCELLENT and very fast for full color (21 pages per minute). My only initial concern was that it creased envelopes when printing on envelopes......but after consulting the manual there are fuser tension adjustment switches that solves that for perfect envelope printing (Settings, A, B and Envelope). I had compared many all-in-one color laser machines for many years (including recent ones from Xerox and HP). I was surprised that HP hadn't come out with a great, feature rich one yet. Brother beat HP to the punch and it is a knockout for sure. I am replacing a higher end Minolta color laser with flatbed scanner, a Brother MFC mono, and an HP mono workhorse with this ONE MFC-9840CDW!!! I am very very picky with print quality but this one is great! Bonus features are built-in duplex scanning, duplex printing, and wireless network capability! The replacement supply costs are also very reasonable and lower than most of the other color laser brands. Brother truly has a winner on its hand with the MFC-9840CDW!!! Thank you Brother....I LOVE IT!

Panasonic DMW-FL360 External Flash (GN36) for Panasonic L1 DSLR and FZ50 Digital Camera Review

Panasonic DMW-FL360 External Flash (GN36) for Panasonic L1 DSLR and FZ50 Digital Camera
Average Reviews:

This is well-matched to the needs of the Panasonic LX3. It integrates well with the camera. It is bulky, but it is difficult to see how a smaller unit could work well. Flash angle is adequate to cover the 24mm-equivalent wide angle of the LX3. One issue is batteries. Panasonic recommends alkalines or Ni-MH recharageables, but this results in short battery life and long recharge cycles. I use Energizer Ulitimate Lithium batteries which seem much more practical. At 200 ISO and f2.0 aperture the flash can reach out 50 feet for wide angle shots or 70 feet for normal angle shots. For most of my shots I use it in bounce mode, often with a bounce card, and have no trouble illuminating subjects more than 30 feet away.

Mounting the Panasonic DMW-FL360 TTL external flash unit onto the L1 hotshoe gives you precise TTL light control of the high-powered flash, and lets youuse the versatile functions of the flash. Linked with the L1's light-metering functions, the DMW-FL360 uses a TTL light adjustment system to measure the light that actually strikes the Live MOS sensor, then adjusts the flash intensity accordingly. The result is flash photoswith outstanding exposure. The FL360 has a guide number of 36 (ISO 100/m). The angle zoom function covers a lens range of 24-85mm (35mm camera equivalent). Using the built-in wide panel further extends coverage to a view angle of 18mm. The firing angle can also be automatically changed to create a bounce lighting effect.FEATURES: For use with Panasonic Lumix Digital SLR cameras TTL metering, FP emission capable Medium light intensity -- Guide number 36

Being and advanced computer user I found it really easy to install without any instructions (although I imagine you could easily do this with the included instructions). I put it in place of my 285GTX. Installed the 8-pin and 6-pin Cables from by power supply. Connected my computer monitor to it, powered up my computer, installed the lasted drivers off NVidia's website, and was on my way without any problems at all. I even have this hooked up to my computer monitor with an HDMI 1.4a cable (not that I need it since my monitor doesn't do 3D, but I got it on sale for [...] bucks.)
One of the things that I have noticed is that it runs cooler and quieter in my computer case than my old 285GTX. I have a thermometer on my case so I can monitor the temperature at any time. My case is now 5-7 degrees (F) cooler. This is a nice improvement if heat is a problem for you.
I don't have any games on my computer that use a lot of direct X 11 features. I was however able to run "Lord of the Rings Online" at my computer's max resolution (1920x1200@60hz) using direct X 11 mode with everything turned on without any noticeable slowdown other than lag caused by my connection (cable Modem service where I am is iffy sometimes.) It also plays every modern game I have such as Call of Duty Black OPS and Medal of Honor with everything turned on, without any slow down at all. Even while playing multiplayer in both games. While performance will probably vary from system to system, this is the fastest graphics card I have used so far. I will post an update how it plays with other new games I just happen to buy. If you want benchmark testing results you can just Google "580 GTX reviews". There are a ton of them and since I only own one card I cannot tell you how it is using SLI.
While this graphics card is expensive, it is currently the fastest single graphics card you can buy without an SLI/Crossfire solution and if the price is not a killer for you, then I highly recommend this card. It is a quieter and cooler running graphics card than previous generations of cards (by NVidia) and handles just about anything you can throw at it. Hope this helps.

I got it on a sale from another store and bought it without second thought. I was more inclined towards Klispch or Energy, but the price offered was very cheap compared to both. Currently I am using as surround sound speakers and it is not being the heart of the system( front speakers are Polk tsi400). Subwooofer is OK and for a second option I will go with PSW111 or higher. This a decent unit for the lower to mid range, but for the current price I would go with Energy as it is only the same price. Very light( less than 2LB) for ceiling mount as it is one my requirement. Polk has done a good job in creating such light speakers with good sound.

This motherboard rocks. The BIOS is easy to operate with mouse interface, as well as visually appealing. Instillation was simple. Overall an amazing board, and well worth the money. Highly Recommended especially for the new BIOS.
Cons- The main PCI Express slot lines up with the 6gig/sec SATA connectors. They plug in sideways, so they don't interfier with your Videocard, but if you ever want to unplug or add in another SATA cable, You MIGHT have to take out your video card depending on which one you have; Minor inconvienence. Also the USB 3.0 module has a very short cable. Plan on mounting it somewhere in your tower almost directly infront of the middile mounting screw. I had to re-arrange some items to get it to fit.

Ergotech Triple Horizontal LCD Monitor Arm Desk Stand (100-D16-B03) Review

Ergotech Triple Horizontal LCD Monitor Arm Desk Stand (100-D16-B03)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have to disagree with some of the previous review. While I don't deny that adjusting the height once monitors are mounted on it isn't painless, due to the lack of any kind of supporting spring, I'm perfectly able to adjust it up and down while it's in the vertical position. Probably depends on how heavy the monitors are - I'm using 3 23' AOC's that weigh about 11 pounds each. Yes, it's not something you can easily do while sitting in front of it, but it's hardly a major undertaking, and once you find the right height you can just leave it there.
Things I like about this stand:
Easy to put together.
Very solid construction.
Plain, no-nonsense approach to cable management - it's very easy to make this thing look "neat" if you have long enough cables, some tie straps, and patience. Important only if it's viewable from the back (and you care).
Very "tweakable" - probably the best feature of this stand. The height, obviously, is fixed for all monitors but just about every other angle can be tweaked and adjusted on a per-monitor basis. Having used another triple stand before sending it back (for lacking this) I've come to really appreciate this part. It's very easy to get just the right angle, which if you've never used triple LCD's before is pretty important.
And finally, it frees up a ton of space (well, all triple mounts do) on my desk. It's hard to appreciate it until you actually see it happen.
Things I don't like:
A spring loaded height adjustment would be a very good "nice to have".
It is heavy, almost to the point of overkill. I suppose if you hung the maximum of 75 total pounds of monitors off it it'd be handy, but who's going to put LCD's that heavy (and therefore, old) on a $300 stand?
It's kind of plain looking, blends in with dark environments maybe but Apple-like-decor it ain't.
And finally, it's worst feature - the base is huge. Huge. If you have a desk that isn't very deep be prepared to have this take up an awful lot of space. Mine is pretty deep and has room behind it so I was able to put the back to the very edge but I could see how "shallow" desks would have a real problem with this thing.
Overall, if you are looking for three monitors to do a little Eyefinity triple-head gaming this is the stand for you - if you have the room on your desk, that is (ironically enough, since one of the byproducts of this thing is it frees up room too).
I am using it with 3 23' widescreen monitors but it looks like it would fit even 24's as long as the bezels weren't too thick. That alone makes this a rarity in triple-mount stands, most of which top out at 20 or 21'.

Wasp WWS850 Wrls Lsr Scnr Kt USB Review

This is an excellent scanner.
Be careful when placing your order. For some reason when ordered from Amazon, the order automatically adds a USB cable at an additional $44. I thought that maybe this was because the scanner kit did not include the cable and you really need the cable to set it up. Turns out there is an identical USB cable in the kit and therefore the extra one is just a waste of money.
If this is your first time working with a scanner I strongly suggest you read the instructions. If you plan to make your own labels, you will need a barcode font. There are no free versions, but you can get shareware versions. The most common barcode font is called 3 of 9.

I ordered this product: Samsung LN32D550 32-Inch 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV (Black) around 1pm yesterday with One-Day Shipping and received it today around 1pm. Amazon always is the best for quality of service and working with the best package delivery companies. I have been looking to purchase a 32 inch TV for my computer room for the last 3 months. I waited for the 2011 models and I am glad that I did.
Setup (putting the stand) on this TV was very simple and the user interface is very easy to understand. I have tested input lag with video games as well as quality on a Blu-ray. You need to adjust your setting when hooking up an Xbox 360 to completely get rid of all input lag noticeable to the human eye (I had to label the HDMI port as PC). The PS3 on the other-hand has no noticeable input lag tested with multiple settings. I watched a few minutes of I am Legend on Blu-ray and the video and audio quality is amazing.
The LN32D550 has more settings and options (except internet apps) than other current 2011 32 inch LCDs.
Video: black tone, dynamic contrast, shadow detail, edge enhancement, motion lighting, digital noise filter, mpeg noise filter, etc.
Audio: SRS TruSurround HD and SRS TruDialog
Vs my other TV Samsung LN40A650 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color this TV has a better interface, more settings, better sound quality, and very similar picture quality but lacks 120Hz motion technology.
This TV is all around a great purchase and product.
Input lag test were done playing Call of Duty: Black Ops on the 360 and Uncharted 2 on the PS3.
